In my opinion, U are exactly right..👍👍 there is no "superhero fatigue. ".. if there was good storytelling, then there would be no fatigue.. great points about Sony using the characters they have to work with. It makes a lot of sense, and i never looked at it like that. I appreciate ur perspective.

My daughter and I went to go see Madame Web. She loved it. I am a longtime comic reader and while it wasn't the best movie, I enjoyed the story. 'Nuff said.
In all honesty, it wasn't a bad movie. It had some flaws but peeps seem to forget u go to movies for enjoyment and this movie is enjoyable. What bothers me is when the movie hasn't come out yet and everyone starts saying it's bad don't go c it. It's so annoying. Good vid by da way.

A lot of good insight here. I’ll prob see madam web when it comes to streaming, my wife was actually interested in seeing it. Kraven looks interesting but I don’t have my hopes up tbh although it cements Russell Crowe as the actor who has played a father of a character the most in the super hero film genre. I’d be into it if Sony did a film with spideys d level villains. During the superior days - Marvel had a books the superior foes of spiderman. It as a collection of d level characters trying to act like they’re the sinister 6. Something like this in the style of reservoir dogs would be 🎉
Going to go check out Madame Web tomorrow and see what Sony has given us!
Great analysis it makes total sense. I always assumed that Sony had to pump out a Spider related movie in order to keep the license. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a Gibbon movie 😂. I agree that the "superhero fatigue" narrative is not true. Nobody gets tired of something that's good. It comes down to storytelling and quality that keeps us engaged.

To your point about Superhero Fatigue, If “ bad story fatigue” keeps getting associated with Superhero movies, that will translate and seems to have already turned into Superhero fatigue. The studio execs obviously want to cash in on the success of Superhero movies and are pumping out anything thinking it will make huge money without handling with care and truly understanding the characters and source material. The bad movies can screw up the overall outlook on the Superhero movie genre as a whole, especially if there isn’t even breathing room or enough time for the stench of a ‘Madame Web’ to wear off before the next Kraven the hunter comes out.
They saw venom doing well and thought they would do it again and again and again even the average viewer doesn't know who tf madem web and morbius are i know them because if the animated series in the 2000s what's confusing whay make these movie's bad ? It makes no sense the og script for madem web good why change it why make these movie's so bad we all know you can make good movie's sony into the spider verse is amazing
The super hero fatigue is a cover up because the Netflix run of marvel characters stories were amazing. Not many super powers just good story telling.

I didn’t stick the landing in the video 😂🤣 but very rarely do people get movies that they ask for. Studios don’t exactly take poll and ask people what they want. Movies are create and if they are good, people watch them.

You are correct, the issue isn't about gender (however, a check went into someone box); it's fundamentally about opportunism and a failure in maintaining quality standards. The core problem lies with Sony's lack of strategic vision and understanding of their comic book assets (Spider-man). They fail to grasp the intricate relationships between characters, mistakenly believing they can separate Spider-Man from his iconic villains without consequence. The idea of introducing these characters independently of Spider-Man ignores the established narrative synergy, diminishing the potential for genuine audience connection. Rather than navigating this complex landscape, Sony would have been better off divesting from the Spider-Man universe entirely, opting for a share in the profits instead. These consistent failures have become more burdensome than beneficial for Sony (to include hurting Marvel Studio). The issue at hand is not superhero fatigue but a scarcity of skilled writers who prioritize personal reflection over fidelity to the characters and their stories. This misalignment has led to a disconnect in storytelling, where the essence of the characters and their interrelations are overlooked in favor of self-referential narratives.

I am hoping with Marvel taking the step back that they are at the moment the quality of their shows and series will start to go up again. I think they just got greedy over the past few years and were focusing more on the quantity instead of the quality. I think they stopped respecting the audiences and instead started taking them for granted like we were just going to show up for any film or series they put out just because it came with a certain branding. The same is true for DC/Warner Bros. and Sony with their respective universes. Deadpool 3 will be a good barometer of if they are heading in the right direction again when it comes out later this year.
My kids went from being crazy awesome Marvel Loving Fanatics through the Pandemic to now super hero fatigued. I can’t get them to watch a movie, any of the dozen new shows, nothing anymore. They just tell me, “it’s all watered down now.”
Dang teenagers lol. They had em, but then lost them. I honestly think all the shows did them in.
I'm the same as you when it comes to superhero fatigue. I don't think it's a thing. If the product was better, that sentiment wouldn't be echoed/copycatted as much as it is.
Sony has ties to a few networks and they all need the movie of the week (now it seems they replay for a month). I think the Pepsi advertising in madame web paid someone's yearly salary. I also liked the movie. It was like a throwback to the 90s superhero movies for bad and good

A film (preferably, a script written by an actual fan of Spidey) about the life of Curt Connors aka the Lizard would make for a fantastic movie.
Curt is a dope character for sure. Could you tell a Lizard story with zero Spider-Man?
@@RegieCollects I most certainly could tell a Lizard story with no Spidey. & that goes for a few of the characters, including some of the villains. Especially in this multiverse era in comic story telling. But again, perhaps it wouldn't sell. I may love Connors, & the idea of a Lizard film w no Spidey, many may not however. Anywayz. When you look at the emails leaked from Sony they honestly were not sure what to do back in 2014. 😂🤣 I love Curt/Lizard but I think he needs Spider-Man to pull in the masses. Unless….unless they crush it with the Kraven movie. If they can pull that off I think the doors might be open.
I agree, bad story fatigue is a thing. I will never get tired of watching my favorite heroes on the big screen. It's the same with reading, if the stories for a hero keep being terrible, it is going to get frustrating. The same with gaming. The games in the Arkhamverse were phenomenal and I still play them. But if you ask me about Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad, those two games were garbage. It all comes down to the story for me.

I believe Sony's stone is dry, unless it's animated. Agreed you can't make a good film with a bad script.
These contractual obliglation are a good thing because it forces a company to make movies. Comic movies come from comic books and the last time I went to an LCS, 9/10 people in the store are men so create a movie for men who love to read comics.
Sometimes I feel the movie executives throw something against the wall seeing if it will stick. Hire the comic book writers who know the characters. It's a proven formula.
Don’t disagree. I didn’t talk about this but it seems like they wanted to put out a movie as cheaply as possible. There were sections of the e-mails referencing little nor no cgi blah blah blah. Squeezing money from the stone.
Dear Regie. If you have the time to research how much money movies especially comic ones make after the box office for the next decade on video/streaming/rental/DVD sales and the big TV...
Unfortunately those data don’t get released. I’ve looked. We know that the theatrical release isn’t the end for a movie due to digital sales, streaming, physical sales. We also recognize that there is a ton of money made via marketing/advertising and merchandising. For example, the MCU generated $30B in sales back in 2020-ish and $40B in merchandising.
So you gotta give marvel a lot of credit. They sold their most popular character and took all their c listers and made a banging universe. Lemonade from lemons.

I grew up reading comics from mid 1960s thru 1980s. There were thousands of amazing stories and characters!!! I never heard of Madam Web and when I looked her up I was wondering why the F**k they would choose that character for a full length movie???? WTF???? I could name so many characters that would make for great CINEMA!! Swamp Thing, The Demon, Animal Man, Plastic Man, Longshot, The Spectre, THE METAL MEN!!!!! Come on guys, there is more ammo in that gun.

That's why I never saw the value of madam webs 1st appearance. Nobody but Stevie B comics cares about collecting this book.
Well one of the creators of Morbius made Madame Web. Personally I think they need to hire new writers. Bad writers burn holes in companies pockets and chase off customers.
With a couple more duds, Sony may have to X-Men their comic book rights.
The problem is story and target audience. Target audience should primarily be comic fans, then you work on other demographics. If you use a good comic story and do the characters right you have a base formula. Choosing the right character is also important. Women in movies that lead do well when you have a good story. Atomic Blonde is proof. There are many others. Just need to do it right.
Why don't any of these movies include Spiderman? It seems like Sony is fighting with one hand tied behind it's back. The Spiderman Universe is centered around Spiderman. The supporting cast isn't really much without Spiderman. It would take quite a masterful story teller to create a story for one of Spiderman's supporting characters without including Spiderman.
I say keep making the bad movies. It makes the comics more affordable and the comics are tens times better than any of the movies.

I think between the political agenda, fascination with special effects, name brand recognition, and competition to rush superhero movies to grab that mcu bank, not to mention those in charge not knowing or caring about the characters, Hollywood has lost its ability to tell great superhero stories. Look at The Godfather for example. It was a great story with great characters that is beloved to this day. No Michael Bay effects needed. No "interesting takes" on characters. It just told a great story. We need to get back to that
Madame Web was a failure from the jump unfortunately. The director has a track record of not doing so well combined with the fact that it was widely apparent that nobody studied the story or characters involved. I don't hate on anything really, and by no means am I trying to push a negative narrative. However, I agree that good story telling only requires a good story and could be done with any character if given the care each of them deserve. Entertainment is an ever evolving and highly competitive market, but these oversights created to satisfy the bottom line are not going to do them much good in the long run. I hope for the future these shortcomings will educate them, and the feedback will let them know that just pushing out a title for the bottom line will not go unnoticed. I for one was excited we were getting a Madame Web movie, and was disappointed after watching the interviews let alone the film itself. Though, I tend to enjoy even the worst of it because part of me is just glad to have the characters I love hit the screen to begin with. I'll always enjoy whatever Marvel will put out because these characters play a big role in my life, and for others like me, we can only hope that they will acknowledge that every character holds a special place for us. The good, the bad, and the ugly....I will enjoy each of them. Lastly, a HUGE THANK YOU to Regie for also doing your part in bringing us all together.
I am a Amazing Spider-man collector, been so for years. I can't stand that books like ASM 101 or ASM 210 carry a premium price and I already even own copies of both! They were always lame issues, never cared about Morbius (all his series failed) and cared even less for Madame Web. Didn't even know it was a 'first issue", It sat in my raw box for years and I only slabbed after this stupid movie led to speculation. Why anyone would want a movie for these 2-dimensional characters....! No, I don't buy the IP protection issue, these releases were just bad ideas.
Hopefully you realize that I didn’t make an IP protection argument in the video. 😂🤣 The reality is the McU was built on the backs of low level characters. I personally don’t think the popularity of the character is the main issue-it’s the quality of the script, story, special effects. Take for exactly the Guardians of the Galaxy. Most folks didn’t give a hoot about the Guardians but the movies have been awesome.

You definitely going to get more Spiderverse movies, eventually you getting Spider-Gwen and Miles Morales, hopefully they wise up do it right. Fyi woke doesn't just mean putting women in movies over men, it's being aware of social injustices towards ppl of color plain and simple.

@RegieCollects nah didn't get my definition from dictionary, I know the version of woke as in promoting women/gay community in traditional male roles, or genres that all started with the Republicans to term woke as something negative for middle/poor class to not have as unifying tool, it's Republicans narrative. I mean if ppl have a problem with women predominantly etc in action/comicbook movies that's fine. I think it's more the story, development of some of these movies. Because it's obvious examples of women dominated movies that did very well. But everyone is entitled to their narrative they want to go with, I just thought I throw my 2 cents in. Madame Web is such an awesome character; I remember 1st seeing her on the Spider-Man animation when I was a kid, then searching for her in comics. The film did her wrong - pure trash. Whoever wrote the script, is wet garbage.
