im a 17 year old that just got all four teeth removed yesterday, i just want to say if you are nervous, dont be because its not as bad as you would think. the day before my surgery i was getting so nervous i would look everything up that they would possibly do to me but its nothing compared to what you would think! my main advice is dont stress too much about it, it literally took my dentist 10 minutes to extract all my four teeth lol i was in the lobby more than in the actual room for the surgery, but yea just dont stress too much about it! btw i was numbed and wide awake and all you feel is pressure but it does Not hurt!

I got my wisdom teeth removed today, had a mocha frappe 5hrs after the extraction. Doctor suggested to not have rice at all as we think its soft and ok to consume, but gets lodged in the socket. So I cooked rice and lentils, cooled it, blended and drank. Its protein rich so keeps me full and don’t have many options, so just have to make it work. I've had my four wisdom teeth removed on the 24th of June, been fasting for 2 days straight since I underwent the surgery, I'm 28, the doctor who removed me teeth said that they were difficult to extract, he said that there was more bone damage than usual, my jaw is so painful right now, I don't even feel like eating. Is fasting bad or can it promote faster healing?since I'm reducing inflammation by not eating and leaving the stitches intact, I haven't really bled since I woke up from the surgery.
How did it go for you?
I recently turned 21 & just got 4 of mine removed yesterday (I'm currently serving in the Airforce). It's been crazy for awhile, but honestly I'm getting better. My friend who drove told me the doctor's words that "I'm the perfect patient" because they had no issues with me & didn't deal with bone shards at all. They did my surgery in less than an hour!! It's crazy.
Also I like the background music, name?

Hi, from Liverpool UK 🇬🇧😁. I am 40 years of age... Nearly. I was told a couple of years ago by my tooth doctor that I never had any wisdom teeth. Roll back to about 6 weeks ago, I had a terrible time with my back tooth. I've got TMD, and my tooth cracked due to this, so my tooth wasn't actually impacted. Anyway, after weeks of hell, and I mean hell, major infection in the tooth, course of amoxycillen, then metronidazole... I finally had it pulled Thursday just gone. The pain is still kicking about and it's horrendous! Who knew a tooth could give you so much aggro 😕🦷👀🥺
how mads that
Thank you for this ! I know you mention avoiding acidity - coffee included I assume ?
Avoid anything hot for 2-4 days. Got my removed today. No stitches as it came out well but thats what my doc told me.
Great information but What to take 🤔 for the pain
Would Banana smoothies and tomato soup be a problem with seed / acidic? It's a 40 years old patient that took wisdom teeth out like 20 years ago, but with the root left near the nerve. Unfortunately his root did not surface and it has been causing bone lose at the jaw area from frequent infection that it was suggested to have it remove despite its location overlapping with the nerve on the 3D scan. He has allergy to dairy / avocado / a lot of other soft fruit like papaya, etc... so kind of limited the food choices. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Is mashed banana mixed with yoghurt okay? And also avocado? I don't feel full with just the soups so I'm looking for fulfilling healthy foods that is soft 😂

@@northtexasdentalsurgery hey got all 4 removed can I eat rice and mashed potatoes?
@@aydenfernandez3757 no rice!!! Rice is a bad bad idea to eat after wisdom teeth extraction!
Got my horizontally impacted right bottom wisdom tooth removed 3 days back. The plan was to remove both the right bottom and upper tooth, but couldn't happen.
The bottom tooth was much more difficult to remove than the X Ray suggested and the root was close to some nerve ( that's what the surgeon told me). It took 1.5 hours of cutting, drilling, and cranking with all tools to remove it. Unfortunately, the process was excruciating. The doctor gave me local anesthesia three times and even that didn't help. By the time it was removed I was so exhausted that I was shaking and couldn't stand up.
Lesson learnt: I am never getting my wisdom tooth removed again without sedative or GA 😭
Same exact thing happened to me. Except they just pulled that shit. It was 15 20 min of hell . I though I was going to pass out. I had to really focus not to pass out
I couldn’t image 1.5 hours. I will be out next time to
Had a similar experience yesterday. The procedure took a whole hour. At some point, I had to be given Pethidine; it calmed me a bit but the pain was excruciating all the same. Been spooning smoothie and Greek yogurt since yesterday. Craving all kinds of food but can't even dare.
the both roots of my wisdom tooth were holding my nerve, it hug the nerve . even after more and more local anesthesia, including the one which injected to the bone, those were not helping . i could feel every touch. the vibration was directly sent to the nerve, my jaws feels like after being punched. the dentist and nurses were guilty alot watching me trembling to cry during 1 hours procedure . at the end. the dentist free me from any charge. yay!, i got impacted wisdom tooth removal free of charge . after 3 hours from the surgery, my jaw move normally, no hurt, less swelling. the dentist did the great job.
Hhhh, I thought it was only me, It took more than one hour to remove it and they shaked me until I am exhausted, I m astill swelling and it's one week 😭😭😭
I just got my wisdom teeth out (all 4) on Friday and it's now day 3. I started having massive swelling a hard firm knot develop on one side on day 2 but I don't think it's infected (no fever, bad breath, manageable pain). Is this normal or should I get it checked?
What was it ?
Dr Choi is the very Best in the business, he pulled my widom a few years ago and my recovery was smooth, quicker than expected. I also had to have another unexpected extraction on a premolar yesterday which was a lost cause cavity, meaning no filling would help not even the pulpotomy that was done on it by my other dentist who should have caught the cavity a lot sooner since I always saw him every 6 months without fail( maybe he needs to use 3D xrays) when a simple filling would have sufficed. I went back to Dr. Choi who is an oral surgeon and he did an impeccable job as always. IT was a very hard pull probably due to the prior work the old dentist did trying to salvage the tooth but again I am healing fine. Dr. Choi knows his craft and is very pleasant too.
I just got 4 removed I noticed I have a lot of saliva in my mouth . I know know spitting out when I swollen it it is kinda like a hard gulp . I don’t want to do it to hard cause I don’t want to damage the clot that’s trying to form. What should I do ?

Hello Dr. Choi. Thank you for the information. This is very helpful to me. I had an extraction and I was so concerned about what to eat. I do see that I have formed a clot in my socket where the tooth was extracted from but I notice that the top of the clot sits higher than the gum-line. I don't have any pain or bleeding after the 24 hour mark. I looked at images online and all of the images I saw showed the clot being flat or recessed inside of the socket with a concave shape. Should i be concerned about the clot being higher than the gum line?
I'm on day 2 and when I swallow it almost feels like my stitches are almost being tugged on is that normal?
I just had my wisdom teeth removed today and tried to eat scrambled eggs, that didn't go so well. Foods that can dissolve on your tongue is the way to go.
It’s been over a week since I got both of my wisdom teeth removed. Just the bottom ones. I still can’t open my mouth that much and it’s made it hard for me to brush both my teeth and tongue. I still can’t chew on anything either. I’m stuck with liquids and I’m so over it. I’m craving a burger so bad 😭. I don’t know how much longer until I’ll be able to eat normal again.
1:07 "shakes or smoothies" without straws 👍. I'm looking into chocolate milk drinks
Thank you for telling me what I wanted to hear from my ( in rush dentist). Great clear advices👌
i am hungryy. I think I'm not eating enough cos im too scared.
and it HURTS!
Lick and swallow soft food. Dont need to use teeth
Yogurt is a good option, scramble eggs
@YEET no rice it’s small and can get stuck in the clot
I think you should make a entire list of foods that you CAN NOT eat at all till the extracted area is healed and drinks and not example foods, that way people will be more careful for sure.
Thank you…for the great information
I just go my wisdom teeth out and I can barely open my mouth enough to even put a spoon in. I can see my jaw bone on the bottom left, and I don't know if I should see my doctor. That bottom left side is so tender and sore even when I ice it and take my meds. I wash with salt water after eating, and it doesn't help. I've been eating pudding and broth mostly and puréed veggies.
What should I do?
I would still go in and see the doc on monday and have him take a look. in the meantime, keep icing all weekend. do salt water rinses in the meantime. take your antibiotics and pain meds on the clock
Please give us an update
So what happened? If you can see the bone in the open socket or an adjacent tooth down inside, it likely means the blood clot has dissolved or dislodged. Final outcome?
When will my jaw swelling go back to normal? It looks like a big square
yeah, the gum lining on both sides started swelling like on day 3, i’m on day 6

I got my tooth removed 10 years ago and the blood clot came out when I was yelling at someone and Vicodin didn't even help with the pain it took 4 days and 2 prescription of antibiotics to get better. This Friday I woke up with Jaw pain by Monday which was Yesterday the infection was in my throat, they pulled my tooth yesterday, and I started taking Antibiotics and sipping 1/2 water 1/2 lemon aid mix when I got home, I took Tylenol because they prescribed Ibuprofen which I can not take, and everything was closed. By midnight I had taken 2nd antibiotic, 8oz water down lemon aide and a Tylenol I was able to go to sleep with little pain, and by today taking the antibiotics Tylenol, and drinking waterdown lemon aid I feel much better, I was able to eat mashed potato's with gravy, 2 steak fingers, a onion 1/2 soft bun and tea, chewing on the good side taking my time and being Very careful chewing and swallowing, it was the first real food since Saturday night. I was able to go outside and water my yard and tend to my fish pond. If you want to know what makes the difference it's the blood clot, Make sure you don't pull it out with the gaze, don't go to sleep with the gaze in your mouth, slowly sip everything you drink, and don't eat anything until 24 hour later, don't brush your teeth or rinse your mouth, or mess with it, just rest don't even talk, and try not to lose the blood clot within the first 24 hours. If you loss the blood clot it will be very painful for days and take longer to heal. Once the bleeding slows and the blood looks thicker than it will clot, which you should stop using the gaze or it could pull the blood clot out when you remove it. Look at the blood and notice the difference, when it looks thicker stop using the gaze. Good luck to any of you reading this in the future looking for help.

Great info. Thanks allot
Recently had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed along with a cyst/tumor removal in my bottom left ramus. They also put in bone graft in my ramus since the cyst/tumor had reduced it by a lot. It’s on to the pathologist now but my surgeon is pretty sure it’s a dentigours cyst. My 17 molar was super impacted down towards my sensory nerve. It was a 3 hour surgery and I’m on day 5 of recovery. Any suggestions or past experiences on operations like mine? Like how to manage the pain even after pain killers, or in your experience how long do patients take to become pain free and swelling free? Also my bottom lip and teeth still feel numb, is that normal?
that numbness should progressively get better as the days go by but its really hard to say without looking at your 3d scan. just keep icing. do a soft diet. dont open your jaws too wide to eat. keep taking ibuprofen for the anti-inflammatory action
I have to get all 4 removed in the afternoon tomorrow also a cyst/tumor removal on the top of my gums above my k9’s and I’m super nervous about the pain after the surgery lol Any tips on the foods to eat and the best ways to deal with the pain ?
What day can i start drinking sprite? I'm on my 5 day
Edit: nvm you answered my question at 2:03 thx
I've just got 3 tooth extraction yesterday, and I just drinks milk for 24 hours and I now so tired so I just swallow chopped steaks whole without chewing, almost passed out.
I am on my 3rd day and the pain is unbearable, even ketoprofen doesn't work. At night after the surgery I fainted few times, had fever and couldn't move on my own. Swelling is huge, I can't close my mouth. I don't even think about the food because it hurts so baaad 😭
What about patients that have sutures? I had strawberries in a smoothie today for the first time and you mentioned foods with seeds.. and strawberries didn't even cross my mind! Please advise!
Now repeat after me. “ Oh lord, whatever mistake i made in this lifetime, let it pass and give me forgiveness and mercy when i meet you.” 😂😂Just chill and keep a watch. Rinse ur mouth well.
i just got mine extracted a couple days ago,
when your sutures removed, were your gum skin fully joined, meaning no gum hole visible?
I was about to drink some orange juice and enjoy my berries ... guess not.
I’m not sure if #18 is a Wisdom tooth but I just had this extracted today 05/11/23 due to a major infection, I had, which had caused my tooth to be mobile. Well when I got there and they went to check me out, I was surprised to find out that they were doing a bone graft. I said a bone graft? For what? I had no idea! The doctor said it was to prevent my gum from collapsing and in case I wanted to replace this tooth, number 18, I will be ready to go. My question for you is number one is this my wisdom tooth? And number two is a bone graph necessary, I am 46 years old. Thank you doctor for your time.
Is it normal for the dentist to not prescribe any pain medication? I had a wisdom tooth extracted and they said I would take 4 Alieves for pain.
Can you brush your teeth with toothpaste After the 2nd day or how long do you have to wait to use toothpaste
immediately
I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed, and got stiches for the bottom 2. Currently on day 6 and I am craving EVERYTHING!!! I wish I can just pig out at Korean bbq or eat some church’s fried chicken or chili cheese fries 😭 I’ve only been eating miso soup, Greek yogurt, apple sauce and drinking ensure. I don’t want to risk dry socket or getting an infection so I’m waiting until 2 weeks to start eating solids. CAN’T WAIT!!!!
good job! keep it up!
UPDATE: it’s been about 2 1/2 weeks since I got my wisdom teeth removed. I’m slowly starting to feel more comfortable eating solids, but still being cautious and trying to not chew near the extraction site. 👍
I healed in about 2 weeks and felt no pain afterwards :) I was still a bit cautious when eating super hard foods
How are feeling ?
@@mimitran9039how long until you comfortably started eating without caution? did you have to get cleared by your dentist to make sure you could chew anything like normal?
My daughter is 14 and about to have her wisdom teeth and a syst removed. She is extremely picky and doesn't like any of the foods you listed. I'm afraid she won't eat at all or will eat something she shouldn't. What should I do
yo thank you so much for this vid Doctor🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
