- Spring, Summer, and Autumn are prime months for clubs all over the country to host Poker Runs, a community ride where bikers go through multiple stops to a final destination, choosing playing cards (or similar activity) at each stop to compete for a high score at the end. Usually those with the best (and sometimes worst) hands or scores will win a grand prize.
There are many benefits to hosting a poker run, and in this video we will discuss the details on what a poker run actually is, why your club should host one, and how to put it all together and organize it. a comment makes me think of fundraising honor flight in wi i helped with and person organized it for a few yrs didn't release what was raised until after got back from sturgis or other trip, last 5 years has gotten big with area population being 30k (5 surrounding towns but maybe 100 bikes max generating $30k, made me think some of it was being used for her trips? she has since being just biker thing, has an atv poker run, golf, snowmobile (when have snow for trails) for the honor flight. many businesses/resorts donate for raffles, silent auctions and have lots of media attention.
It does get suspicious if people are promoting the proceeds the Charity receives. We like to hope people are doing the right thing. If your Club is doing a charity, I would suggest you celebrate the earnings. Not only does that look good but is good marketing for further events.
