My first ever experience of a curlew song was a few years ago when we went to the Yorkshire Dales. We drove up to Malham Tarn & sat on the banks, the view was breathtaking enough and then came the curlew calling. My husband is a keen birdwatcher so he recognised it and I was just mesmerised by it and it was quite an emotional moment for me.
I fondly remember seeing a flock of these beautiful birds in Wells-Next-the-Sea in Norfolk, UK last summer and feeling extremely overwhelmed spotting such an amazing bird for the first time.
I’m surrounded by this wonderful sound everyday where I am on a farm near Kirkby Lonsdale. I love to watch them hover, then land in the meadow opposite.
I live close to an Estuary reserve here on the east coast of Ireland, I hear this every night as they fly over my house into the neighbouring fields, both beautiful and eerie especially in the early hours
In Finland, the skunk population has decreased a lot when they go to France to winter. They are hunted there. In Finland, skunks are not allowed to be hunted.
Excellent recording , thanks for that, took me straight back to 6AM on the river blackwater Essex.
Simply beautiful. Thank you very much.

What a great video! Thankyou. It brought back memories from long ago, whilst spending many holidays on the Yorkshire Moors!

Yes, excellent video. Thanks from Idaho, USA, home of the Curlew National Grasslands.
Your excellent 2013 article on Gregory Bateson brought me here. Thanks for everything you've put out into the either over the years :)
Amazing I saw and heard one once in my life on moorland in Lancashire.
Only once in my whole life, never forget it though.
