Interesting question. Apparently they can but I have never seen a spider crab with a small regrowing limb like other crabs.
How many fisherman will keep those size of crabs Trojs . Where at least you are conserving the size of crap that you are putting back , but still you and Rebecca had a good day and catch well done 😊😊

We keep a lot but I also have a licence
Do you have parasites stealing your catch like John does on THE FISH LOCKER? They even take undersized lobsters & crabs. He has threatened to quit fishing altogether because of this.
We have had the odd pot lifted or disappear in recent years but it does not happen that often.
That’s Sod’s Law never can tell we used to have four sessions not now ❤

I have never seen any other boats out there fishing around you Troy , are you the only crabber ?
No there are other boats but all the main ports and harbours are on the other side of the island so there is very little traffic. Its extremely rocky my side with big Atlantic swells at times.

Have you ever tried canned cat food for bait? Take hammer and nail, pop 2 or 3 holes on both sides, drop in pot. Used this bait when I stone crab and lobster in the florida keys. Great channel,
I did try this once when I was a kid but I did not catch anything.
