Chi Coltrane sings "Who Ever Told You" and talks about her songs (Austrian TV, 1974)

Chi Coltrane (born in 1948) is an American singer and pianist. In 1977 she appeared in the Austrian TV show Spotlight.
Spotlight was a music show for the youth, which was aired between 1968 and 1978 by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF). It was the counterpart to the shows "Beat Club" or "Musikladen" in Germany.

Forever a mystery why she wasn't a bigger star than she was. "Thunder and Lightning" was pure fire. It wasn't played everywhere, but I know we played it on the radio in Dallas when I was there, and it was a pretty big hit. I was surprised it wasn't bigger.

Beautiful and talented, still is. Been in love with her since I bought that 8 track in 72. Sent her an email a few years ago and got a reply. That didnt make my day it made my life.

At the time these pictures were taken Chi Coltrane was a very beautiful and kind young girl.
Many years later I initially had contact to her via e-mail until I met her personally at a concert she gave near Bremen in 2011. We shook hands and I was allowed to put my arm around her and I posed for some photographs with her. In the end I bought a lovely magazine with lots of photos of her and I also got an autograph from her with a personal dedication.
What I particularly liked about Chi Coltrane was her modesty. She had no airs and graces and she wasn't arrogant at all, but she kept her feet strictly on the ground.

This woman moves me! I was a kid in the 70's, and listened to radio in NYC and knew about music & stuff on the East and West Coast. I even would get WRNO New Orleans on the shortwave band. Sometimes Chicago! So how is it I am just finding out about the talented Ms. Coltrane in 2022? I mean, she's got it all! beauty, brains, and a voice i would die for!
