Hi to Tom and Pete. I started flyfishing 27 years ago guided by Tom's Prospecting for trout (reading it 2 or 3 times a year). You're my 2 favorite teachers, both with a distinguished pronounciation and easy kind of speaking. Tom gives me the impression he was born on the water and Pete makes me believe he can cast to a dime with his eyes closed. The modified reach cast will be usefull from now on. Tom: your dedication is second to none.. Pete's nickname (Guru from Tom) is right on. Both of you: keep up the good and precious work. There are times that I wished I had 10 thumbs because you deserve 10 thumbs up.

Really enjoyed this video! This is a topic that I would love to see more of on UA-cam. As a matter of fact, we recently started a new series on different hatches on our own channel, with each video focusing on a different hatch. It was really nice to see things as a whole in this video though and I am in awe of how well Tom can take such a complicated topic and break it down. Thanks for the great video!

entomology is one of my favorite aspects of fly fishing! I love to find ways to imitate insects when tying my own flies. Most of the time what I come up with isnt original in the slightest, but sometimes I feel like i'm onto something....then find out i'm not =) I so love this sport! I cannot believe I lived the outdoor life and teach survival yet I had never fly fished before may of THIS YEAR!

Thanks Tom and Pete, loving these videos and the casting tips. Two things, when I'm fishing my home creek in Denver, during caddis activity I've been successful catching brown trout with my caddis emerger by stopping it at the end of my drift in an area where fish have been rising. "Hanging" the fly in the current for a second or two often gets a pretty awesome grab. Secondly, I like to tell beginner fisherman that everyone knows fish have a tiny brain, but in my experience they get the most out of it!

I know you guys talk about both strike indicators and euro-nymphing in some videos, I was wondering if you could talk about using the “New Zealand strike indicator” technique and how to use it properly.
You use it the same as any other indicator we mentioned here, but it is especially useful in the two-indicator rig
Hi! Ive been fly fishing for the last 28 years and as I didn't have anybody to teach me and I'm a self learner, I'm finally starting to learn a bit about it. Thanks for the valuable information in your video. I've been fishing for those years with an Orvis Rocky Mountain 7 weight flyrod, as this is what I was sold by my local shop. I want to upgrade my fishing ans I was wondering if a 5 weight rod would be a good choice? What do you suggest? (From Québec city, PQ, Canada).
Glad to help, you might find a six weight a better all-around choice. It depends on what species you fish for the most and what conditions.

Not sure which you are referring to but I often use a combination of EP Trigger Point Fibers and Krystal Flash

Great information and wonderful video production but please ask Pete to use those sunglasses. There are not many absolutes in fly fishing, but always, always, always wear a hat and glasses while casting.
