I needed a belt sheath for my Leatherman Rebar. I wanted to wrap it in leather and decided of the final design as I was building it. For this build, I used 6oz. (2.5mm) vegetable tanned leather, one 12mm snap, one double cap rivet and some waxed thread.
One all my parts were cut and the holes punched, I dyed them all and burnished the edges with gum tragacanth and a slicker. Then it was a quick assembly with some brown waxed thread and the double cap rivet.
I'm really happy with the result. I think this simple design let see the Leatherman and adds to the aesthetic of it. I really hope you'll like it too.

Some how this video is in my recommended 6-8 times a year. I never watched it because I thought the holster wasn't worth it judging solely off the thumbnail. I gave in a couple months ago.... What a stupid ass move on my part. It's my favorite holster, best holster hands down. There's NEVER a day I don't have my leatherman on my belt. I work in a wide array of environments; snow, rain, heat, cold dusty, humid, dry, etc. I'm always dumping out my sheath because it is a magnet for dirt, organics, etc. This holster takes care of that.
    Thanks for sharing!

Very cool concept. When my sheath gave out, for my 18+ year old leatherman, I just made a new one to the original design. Nice work!

Thank you very much.I made several of them, some traditional sheath style, some pancake style too, but this one is by far my favorite. mayeb because it is the most simple design I could come up with :) Thanks a lot for watching.

Leatherwork looks like a lot of fun a good excuse to buy lots of little tools. Also, my 20+-year-old leatherman came in a nice leather case, sad that they no longer include it.

That's a beauty! I carry a Leatherman Wingman everyday, it really comes in handy, I keep it in my pocket. I wonder if I could make this with found objects. I find a lot of purse straps and belts in the garbage, not many as thick though.

What is that thick block of black material you use under your hole punch. I cannot tell what that is. It seems like it is soft enough so it does not damage your hole punches. Some kind of plastic block?

    • @RedSmithWorkshop

      The Redsmith
Did you heat treat and temper the steel? It will behave very similar to mild steel without being tempered. (Which is I'm guessing your problem).
Man at arms has a good video where the made the bow from hunger games. They made the limbs from steel and explained the heat treat and Temper on them quite well.
