I really loved the character design, colors, animation style, and storytelling. I just wish the lipsyncing were just a bit better. I also can't believe that none of the other animals had ever seen a baby swan before. XD

And I think that the English dub is far better than the original version. That father and son reunion may be a bit rushed, but I'm sure that when they landed after flying together, they shared a proper reunion. So far, this is the best version for children. I think the Walt Disney version is quite difficult to understand for any children below 5 years old. Disney version is more adapted for adults, and it's more traditionally too.

He didn't believe that he would be accepted by anyone, so he decided to kill himself, because he didn't want to live alone anymore.
You know I was looking a pictures of swan chicks and ducklings and they really don't look that different aside from the swan chicks having longer necks, there slightly larger, and their gray. So I always thought it was odd that they thought he was ugly. Then again he was meant to be a duck, but really what if he was a duck, it's just cruel. I like this story more then the Disney one because the Disney one is a little more adult. How? Think about it. The Father of the ducklings and the mother get in to a horrible argument about her having an affair! This is what leads to the mother chasing off the ugly duckling, only at the end to see the truth and try and get his attention. Though the end is funny when he snubs her.

THE MOST HORRIBLE TRANSLATION EVER!!! there was nothing about princes and stuff in the russian version. They just wrote their own script to the cartoon!?!?!?!
What right did they have to take the Russian original and screw it all up, both music and context??! Besides, anything American movie industry lays their hands on gets a cheesy "Hollywood made in China" taste anyways!...
Most of the differences from the book in it are dub changes. Try to watch the original Russian dub with subtitles. The original version is actually very close to the book.

The original Russian dub and the original Andersen story say nothing about braveness to be himself.
I think the narrator meant he was brave to be himself in the end when he decided to join the other swans.
