- Hello Sax Players 🎷🎶
Talking about carrying saxophones on planes as carry on. I have now taken a soprano, tenor, and alto all on a plane.
My name is Neal Battaglia. I am a saxophone player and teacher who is dedicated to helping sax players across the world.

Thanks for covering this. I've traveled with a guitar and have run into problems / hassles. Always good to learn about another musician's life!
I heard an interesting story about comparing bringing a bari sax with a contrabass clarinet on board. Short version is that one got on and the other didn't.
Upgrading to early boarding helps a lot. Also, using a backpack style case makes you a lot less noticeable. Never had any problems taking my tenor as a carry on.
Thanks Andrew. The tenor and alto cases I have both can be worn on your back. Tenor case with a strap and one alto case I have is a like a backpack. Not the soprano, but I figure that one's mostly okay.
Thanks for sharing your experience Neal! Great tips for How To Carry your Sax on a Plane.
Thanks for checking it out Brandi!
Your passion for music shows in the way you play. Never been to Guadalajara.
Thanks Angie!
Great video and useful tips for other Sax Players. Very different video from what I’ve watched before. I like it! 😊 Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Dal.
This was helpful for me. I am about to leave for a summer camp in Kenya and it is my first time flying internationally. I haven't figured out how I'm going to store my alto, but I'm trying to brainstorm some ideas that allow me to also use the case/bag for other air travel necessities like phone, passport, wallet, etc. without being too heavy or inconvenient. I will be flying Luthansa and they prefer hardshell over soft cases for instruments being carried on.
Thanks for sharing Liam. Should be easier to travel with an alto compared to a tenor. Check the policies of the airline.
Alright :D
