    they should show this video to band students so they can see how hard it was to make their instruments. i see a lot of students mistreat their instruments nowadays.

      I agree! I've seen so many students, middle and high school students treat their woodwind instruments (and brass instruments too) with little to no respect at all, but a lot of that is due to the little to no respect they show their parents, the ones that purchased it for them in the first place and have to force their child to practice frequently like the band director asked them to do. Yes, I know how annoyed parents get listening to their child make the sounds that beginning band students make on a new instrument that they've never blown on before or just have no experience on playing!

    I got a tour of the Buffet Crampon factory in '74. I was in the 8th grade at the American School of Paris, and our band teacher arranged a visit. They manufacture clarinets, but also saxophones and other woodwinds; oboes, bassoons, and english horns. It was fascinating. There were no computer controlled machines drilling the screw holes, mounting holes etc. back then. It was very manual. The factory was surprisingly quiet considering all the drills, wood borers and brass hammering. The craftmen were true artisans. They were very focused on every aspect of the process. It left a lasting impression.

    I love playing my clarinet. I have been playing it for 5 years now and hopefully will continue. I especially love the reeds made by Buffet. No wonder the clarinets these days aren't cheap haha. It's amazing how much time they put in into making just one clarinet

    夢のような映像ですね🎵私は50年以前前より中学校からブラスバンドで青春時代コンクールやコンサートに明け暮れていましがその時のクラリネットのビュウフェクランポン社の木製のクラリネットの音色の響きの素晴らしさに凄い楽器があるなぁ🎵と思いながら演奏聞いていましたがこのような製造過程を見ることができるとは夢にも思っていませんでした‼️凄すぎる‼️素晴らしい技術ですね🎵木を削り形を整えキーの穴を開ける過程など普通現場見ることができません🎵ましてやフランスで製造されている高級なクラリネットの最高級品製造製作しているところ見ることができるなんて本当に夢のようですね🎵当時のブラバンはプラスチックが主流でクランポンのクラリネットは超一流の高級品学校にクラリネットが20本以上ありましたがクランポン社のクラリネットは1本しかなく上級生の中でも一番音が綺麗でテクニックのある人が1人だけ吹くことができる名誉ある奏者に与えられるブラバン最高の高級楽器でしたねぇ🎵正に部員の中の英雄にだけ吹くことができる最高の楽器でしたねぇ🎵その素晴らしい作品がフランスで製作製造過程を見ることができるなんて私幸せですねぇ🎵素晴らしい技術ですね🎵この映像はまさ一生の宝になりました本当に凄すぎ素晴らしい映像ありがとうございました🎵ブラスバンドに青春過ごしたブラス大好きなクランポン社の楽器作品大好きブラバンマンです🎵素晴らしい映像ありがとうございました🎵

    • @rhossevai1397
      @rhossevai1397 8 років тому +1

      Rockington TheThird, a lot of people prefer the big "Buffet Sound" that the R13 is known for, including myself.
      However, newer instruments, including the R13, have moved away from this, and have become more like Selmer Paris, with regard to wall thickness and the such. This creates a very dark sound, which isn't necessarily bad, but people like me and others enjoy the vast overtones that can be found in older clarinets, where the walls were not only not as thick, but the wood was more porous.

    Watching those levers and rods go in does my head in. Reminds me chillingly of the time when one of mine fell out during an important solo in a concert. The first hint I got that it was going was difficulty in making certain notes speak. Then when I tried harder just a loud shriek. My clarinet was a LeBlanc. We all have had our bad moments I guess.

    • @rhossevai1397
      @rhossevai1397 8 років тому +34

      nikolas macalma, the reason they do that nowadays, is because they want to hide away the imperfections of the wood. Unfortunately, the wood used to make clarinets these days is not only not as good as it used to be, but is also aged with much less time, which also uses chemicals to speed the process.
      This is the unfortunate truth about supply and demand with mass production.

    @peepzstar You should def do it! Especially if you're going into high school band or even higher. If you go into high school band, you can keep your plastic one for marching band because it's bad for the wood to get rained and stuff on in marching band. But if you get a wooden one you can use it in concert band. It has a much better sound to it in my opinion, more mellow and beautiful, and it tunes better too. (: I love clarinet.

    Paul, nobody uses the mouthpiece that comes with the clarinet. Some great mouthpieces to try are Pyne, Van Doren, Clark Fobes , Bay, and Hite. I'm sure there are many others,

      Look on eBay. I've gotten two used R13's that way. Last one was a steal.

    I've seen a documentary about Tanzania where Buffet crampon sourced their wood from the Mpingo tree . In 1980s Buffet crampon noticed that the wood turning a bell had a habit of exploding while under pressure during machining there was alot of scrappage and they couldn't understand why the wood exploding and they found out the reason over there in Tanzania tribesmen set fires on there land and this damages the young Mpingo trees so when they reach maturity there is a flaw in the wood so bell making was difficult and losing 20 percent of stock .
