I grinded this line last christmas with the xp bonusses. I heard so many people complaining about this line (especially the accuracy) I litterally was blown away by how much bullshit the community speaks about them. Slap improve aiming on the firepower slot, get a camo crew and these tanks become unique monsters that can rack up damage pretty quickly if you get to the right positions. The tank does not shy away from hulldown brawling either if you feel like the enemy team doesnt have heavies with relyable turrets. And here lies its uniqueness. It can adapt on the map and situation no other td (apart from the Hori) can.
Finally Skill playing with my favourite tank in the game. This TD is an absolute gem. Ed: Also Skill, back in 2012, this tank had 850 alpha, AP was the same with 303 pen but the HEAT had 450mm of pen...yes, more than Jagpizda

If I remember correctly TD's didn't take a camo hit when firing and lights didn't take a hit when moving. Those days you were a lot more held into your role which is debatable if it was good or bad for the game. Also! It had the second most accurate gun in the game behind the leo1
They did, but they kept a larger camo percentage compared to other tanks (see E 25 and FCM 36 Pak 40, which still have the original values). As a hard example: the FCM 36 Pak 40 has higher camo after firing (6.42%) than the T56 GMC (5.03%), even though it's noticeably larger (and has worse stationary camo when not shooting).
Yeah it used to have better camo and TD's used to have the special feature of not losing camo when firing (and prem TDs from back then still have this feature, which is one reason the E-25 is as nuts as it is). Old HE model was nuts as well.
Regarding camo, WoT changed many things, the vehicle, removed depressions on maps used by TDs, changed bushes camo. All these things helped reduce the effectiveness of the Obj. 268.
Skill you're correct the OBJ704 and 268 had sick camo...I was shooting people from close like 50-75m behind a bush and they couldn't even spot me. And on top of that all 750 alpha guns used to be 850 alpha....then I think the best TD used to be Foch 155 followed by 268.
people underestimate the 268, it has a bit of everything and outclass by newer TDs but boy 303 standard AP pen is absolutely terrifying. + 5 deg normalization. just to put it to perspective, its able to pen the cheeks of assault mediums obj 140, 121 imagine the rest. with gold it just cuts through everything with ease. i remember getting penned in my chieftain turret many times. and let me remind you folks, its a chieftain turret we are talking about.
It sounds like OBJ 704 you are talking about. Back in 2012 and 2013 it was the bad ass TD in clan wars. I think the OBJ 268 was released in 2018'ish, if I'm not mistaken... ;)

This is the only tank I've ever done 10k damage in. Obj 268, Fisherman's Bay, Xbox version (lol) in 2015 or so. Xbox version didn't have replays so all I have is a photo of my TV from my old iPod touch lol
it was like you say it was great Camo, but in some aspect ob 263 was bugged and could disappear in middle of battlefield. now ob 268. is just average TD . just forget to add it have in past 450 Heat penetration later nerfed to 395 because it was too op

It's not a bad tank by any means, but it has annoying features. The gold ammo is slow, the gundepression 5 ° is not enough. Also, armor is fine, but unreliable. (+small horns) At least it has good camo if you are into that kind of gameplay :)
Nah, this tank destroyer doesn't have enough armor to be "average to good", at t10. Obj 704 is better, tier for tier (not armor-wise, but overall). Actually sold this tank after a few frustrating months.
Players index ratings of bad tanks may be a bit too high... because who plays 50+ battles with a bad tank, instead of selling it after 10-20 battles or so? Only players who like those bad tanks OR who are very good will be patient enough to play 50+ battles. Why do you think for example CHurchill GC has 2 stars instead of one in players ratings? I can't give the 1 star because it would require 20 more battles with this sh.t tank.
Because not all of us enjoy watching someone spam nothing but gold ammo like a toxic scrub. You wanna watch gold spam? Go watch the ilk like kazjoo and Scorpiany.
There's no way to cheat by reducing hard vehicle stats like dispersion and bloom. The mod Skill uses just makes the reticle smaller, making it psychologically easier to take shots earlier than default fully aimed (iirc, the logic is that mathematically the probability difference of a hit or not is small between full aim and a bit before full aim).

This tank must not be underestimated. 700-1000 DMG gun with good mobility and good armour is a very rare combination even in 2023.

I think 268 have the best (750) gun of all tech td. Almost never bouce.. always penetrate.
And it was the most accurate tier 10 TD
