  • I was hoping that this would be the final trip to the boat before being launched, as there was a couple of small things needed to be done before splash day. They included checking to see how the newest replacement LED bulbs I got would fit, but more importantly, close the sea cock for the air conditioning system before the boat hist the water again, as will be replacing the air conditioning unit and will need to pull the water lines off that unit. Confused? Don't worry, that will become a lot clearer when I do the A/C swap out project. . .

Guess I lucked out. Got cheap led bulbs off Amazon and two full seasons with no issues. Launch day is coming !!!

I bought led bulbs as spare ones for when my halogens start to go... I tried one for fun but it doesn't give it the same dimmed light lounge vibe "feel" that I like so much, so crossing my fingers that the halo's will last. Had no problems with them draining the batteries but I'll admit that my inner sonar is probably on higher alert than if I had leds.

When I was working on our portlight windows on our boat, the halogen bulbs were so hot that they actually burned my head. The LED replacement type should be either 2700 Kelvin colour temperature, but no more than 3000K to achieve a more natural light. The higher the Kelvin colour, the brighter the light.

do not touch the bulbs with your fingers the oil from your fingers makes them burn out faster

Halogen yes. LED burn waaaaaaaaay cooler, so not an issue in my experience.
