President Nixon was a sophisticated and intelligent man. My respect, he was a great politician and a wonderful person. Leonid Ilyich, his blessed memory, had a South Russian temperament, was a kind and cheerful person, with an open soul, hospitable, loved friends, feasts, songs. He was from a simple family, went through the war and became the leader of our country.
Our nations really aren't so different. IMO Nixon was the last good president we had, it's been downhill since then. Reagan created the religious right of today and dismantled much of what made America prosperous to make his friends richer. Ford and Carter did nothing positive of note aside from necessary military reforms. Bush Senior was alright at first but the political environment turned toxic against him and he was unable to do anything about it. Clinton destroyed any and all chances for real peace and rapproachment with post-Soviet Russia, created the housing bubble, and took American warhawking to a new level. I don't think I need to say anything about Bush Jr., the whole world knows what a disaster he was. Obama seemed promising at first but his foreign policy was disastrous and while he did try(and was partially successful) at reversing the economic damage his predecessors caused, it was too little too late. Trump, likewise, seemed promising at first, but quickly turned into another Reagan-making his friends richer at everyone else's expense, tearing us apart, and trashing our image on the world stage. And lastly, we now have a senile old fool for a president who has done nothing good at all until yesterday/today with the passage of the infrastructure bill. Sorry for the long rant, I just get emotional when I think of how easily things could have been better for all of us. Peace to all Russians, not all Americans are brainwashed and we know you are good people. Maybe someday my fellow Americans won't be so bloodthirsty towards everyone else.

Mao new that further expansion would only cause dicentralisation.
Now, the Russians have a man in the White-House they like. He's Donald Trump. Leonid Brezhnev is the most popular 20th century leader in Russia. Other politicians in Russia that gain such a high status in the country include Soviet dictator & Great Patriotic War leader, Josef Stalin, the longest serving leader of the K.G.B, Yuri Andropov, Defense minister from 1976 - 1984, Dmitri Ustinov, Soviet premier, Andrei Gromyko & Alexei Kosygin. In Russia, nobody likes Boris Yeltsin or Mikhail Gorbachev.
In addition, when Richard Nixon was removed from office, Leonid Brezhnev (His Russian pal) was both upset & surprised. The Soviet authorities were pretty upset about it too. As much as I do strongly despise Nixon, I do have to give him credit with taking a more diplomatic & friendly approach with the Soviet Union.

Viktor Sukhodrev, Brezhnev's translator, in his memoirs described Brezhnev's reaction to the American supermarket to which Nixon had invited them. Brezhnev did not believe that such stores exist in reality and said: - Look, they built this advertising store for us and brought products from all over the States to it. They want to amaze us how the American people supposedly live and eat. They overdid it - there really can't be such stores with so many different foods! Brezhnev could not believe that a store for ordinary people could sell more than three varieties of sausage, fruit, bread and some other products unknown to him in beautiful packages.

This republican president worked on establishing a balance of power between the US and Russia (arms reduction treaties, other treaties) and easing of tensions (detente). The administration before Nixon's increased the tensions to a brink of a war. After Nixon, came Carter. He ordered the CIA to overthrow the government in Afghanistan and provoked the USSR, which again ruined the relation with the USSR and increased the tension again. Then Reagan came and built a relationship with Gorbachev and got Gorbachev to disarm the USSR. Then Bush senior, laid ground for the New World Order, in which he had a vision where the US is at the top of the world. Bill Clinton then ruined the relations with the new Russia again by bombing Serbia and Kosovo. Then Bush junior acted like he wanted to make friends with Putin but lied. The lie became obvious over the years. He withdrew the US from the ABM treaty, claiming that it is not against Russia but against Iran. Yet, the Patriot and THAAD systems are all around the Russian territory. Then Obama took the relations between US and Russia to an all-time low by making a mess in Libya and Syria, creating and supporting ISIS (by proxy and sometimes directly). Obama also created a mess in Ukraine for Russia among other messes. Now Trump is forced into this legacy. He says it would be great to be friends with Russia, but Democrats keep wanting to keep Russia as a foe.

Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev (19 December 1906 - 10 November 1982) was a Soviet politician who led the Soviet Union as General Secretary of the governing Communist Party (1964-1982) and as Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet (1960-1964, 1977-1982). His 18-year term as general secretary was second only to Joseph Stalin's in duration. While Brezhnev's rule was characterised by political stability and significant foreign policy successes, it was also marked by corruption, inefficiency, economic stagnation, and rapidly growing technological gaps with the West.

Nobody asked NIXON... It was a gift ! & it was Lincoln. You MIXED UP everything : Gogol with Gegel, Gegel with Bebel, Bebel with Babel, Babel with cabel, etcetera..
With Dick Nixon you could never be sure how much was stagecraft, but if he really did pick up “Dom Mira” by overhearing Brezhnev’s interpreter, then kudos. It is interesting that there have been only two US Presidents who managed to forge a genuine working relationship with a foreign counterpart: FDR (Churchill) and Nixon (Brezhnev).
Wouldn't most US presidents' relationships with British prime ministers, German Chancellors, French presidents etc. since the war, along with Reagan and Gorbachev's connection, Clinton/Yeltsin, etc., be considered as important, productive working relationships as well?
Наш Брежнев все же был весёлым человеком,с чувством юмора,Ваш Никсон тоже. А все же наш,все время стоял на солнце,не прятался в тень ,в отличие от Никсона.

There are none so sincere and person than Brezhnev. Highly respected
At least Nixon and Brezhnev WERE FRIENDS, which is more than I can say for Obama and Putin today.
That's a fact! I did not really like Nixon, but Obama did a lot to worsen US relations with Russia.
+Cody Crouse gromyko was a minister of foreign office, premier wasn't kosygin
Алим Адебиетулы Alexi Kosigyin was indeed part of the threesome who deposed Krushchev. Brezhnev was head of the party and top man, Kosigyin was Premier, and Nikolai Podgorny was President-a strictly ceremonial position like in Israel. Government was headed by Kosigyin but answered to the party headed by Brezhnev.
Nowdays, much people thinks that Trump and Putin were so cool and direct, but they're nothing compared to Brezhnev and Nixon, Man, the two riding a speedy car without bodyguards in a political meeting, they were never forgotten for much bad people wants to destroy their memories, I always look up to the great Statesmen
today the globalist deep state is in full control and wont allow any honet relationship with russia or china. its despicable and treasonous and benefits only a tiny few.

BREZHNEV SUPER MEN 1 LEVEL ,NIXSON 2 LEVEL....SOVIET PRIORITY ⭐

What
Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev (19 December 1906 - 10 November 1982) was a Soviet politician who led the Soviet Union as General Secretary of the governing Communist Party (1964-1982) and as Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet (1960-1964, 1977-1982).
His 18-year term as general secretary was second only to Joseph Stalin's in duration.
While Brezhnev's rule was characterised by political stability and significant foreign policy successes, it was also marked by corruption, inefficiency, economic stagnation, and rapidly growing technological gaps with the West.
putin beat him, hes been president of russia for 22 years so far, but we have to consider that medvedev was president 2008-2012, so 22-4, 18 years as the official title, i dont think he will beat stalin though, 30 years in power

A subtle indication that Nixon knew that Brezhnev suffered from chronic insomnia.
