19:19 The reviews
Jeff Daniels should've been nominated for Gettysburg. Siskel is right. He is the highlight.
I think Tom Berenger did a hell of job as well, especially with his Picket charge confirmation
@@adamfrisk956 - He is supposed to be a history buff (Berenger.). He later got a big role in the history show Hatfield And The Mccoys
Richard Jordan should have been (posthumously) nominated for AND won Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Armistead in Gettysburg.
Even amongst all the fake beards, Jeff Daniels should have been nominated for an academy. Gettysburg is a good movie.
I haven't seen this episode. Thank you for uploading this!
My pleasure, Watch Rudy & Farwell, My Concubine, both great 👍
Farewell, My Concubine, Ruby & Mr. Jones are great movies 👍👍🌟🌟🌟🌟
Good movie especially for civil war buff, but sadly for the general public may not enjoy this movie as much, that may be why Gettysburg didn't do to well in the box office.
Not to say your average person wouldn't like it, because the movie was well made.
@@kakashi101able Gettysburg was better than Gods and Generals but thats like saying the 💩i took this morning was better than the 💩 i took yesterday ....
@@mastermonarch This is a very accurate description of the two movies :D
Rudy 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️ & a half out of 4
RUDY is a classic movie.
Dammit, Gene...
mr jones is clearly the rom - drama favorite of this review
richard gere is terrific
while gettysburg is a fun action drama that people can watch
and it has a remarkable score by randy edelman, the same composer who composes many great movie and tv themes,
one of them, aside from gettysburg from back in the 90s, that many people recognize edelman for
is the Macgyver theme music, as well as beethoven and many others
jeff daniels shouldve gotten a award for gettysburg
and randy edelman shouldve gotten a oscar nomination for composing gettysburg
Both Jeff Daniels and Richard Jordan should've been nominated for Best Supporting Actor in their roles. While I disagree with Mr. Siskel that this film has a Confederate slant, I can understand why he comes to that conclusion.
For generations, the Lost Cause dominated historical narrative not only classrooms but throughout the nation and in Hollywood. The old saying "History is written by the victors" does not apply to the American Civil War. While the Union won the war, the Confederates won the war of historical narrative, until recently.
Totally disagree with Siskel on his take, like he took his bias in with white watching. I saw no particular slant toward either side in this movie
Gene Siskel with a typical liberal take on Gettysburg, so predictable 🙄
There was NO southern slant whatsoever, he’s just pissed that the movie was purely objective
Nothing's changed.
Typical bigoted prejudiced racist take on Gettysburg- so predictable 🙄
Ebert likes the film on its merits. You liked it for it’s subject matter. Horrifying, but hey, you want the south to rise again, right?
Glory was northern propaganda
For generations southern propaganda known as the Lost Cause dominated historical narrative. Far more southern propaganda has made it to Hollywood than Union. "Glory" was just a refresher.
