Hello Margot, thanks for this relaxing and lovely lesson. I’m so glad I found your channel! At first I thought I wouldn’t be able to learn from you when I saw your amazing work like your Alice in Wonderland. I thought anything you said would be way too advanced for me. Also you’re a very elegant lady and a professional. But, to my delight, your channel is pure joy! You’re so encouraging and break things down to seemingly simple and easy to follow lessons. We are here to paint to be joyful and expressive and your teaching has a wonderful way of bringing that out of people on every level! I feel like I can say this because I would be at the bottom rung but having fun, although some discouragement mixed in and you’re very helpful with that. I’ve been watching quite a while and just wanted to express my gratitude for your attitude! Your cheerful demeanor and sweet smile make every experience here fun and helpful so thank you so much!
So beautiful and dreamy. I really love how clear and not even in the least muddy your work always is. I really love how fresh it looks. Thank you so much for the time! I just found your videos, so we’ve been together a lot here lately!! 💜
You are so right, Margot! I began painting using watercolors when I worked in a cardiac ICU. Watercolors gave me peace and much needed respite from intense shifts at the hospital.
Margot, thank you for this wonderful tutorial. It was very easy to follow. Have you ever thought about teaching art on Skillshare? You have such a gentle style of teaching which could help so many more people than just on youtube. And you would get paid for doing what you love! Think about it. God bless you and your family. Have a great rest of your week.
I going to enjoy doing this. I love Monet, and this is a great lesson. And yes, there is a difference between a water lily and a lotus Water lily is pointed and star shaped. The lotus petals a more rounded. There are a few other differences, but the petals are the most noticeable. 💕🖌x
That looks so beautiful and calming. I can’t wait to try it out ❤🤗🇨🇦. PS: I cheated and looked this up for you.. Water lily flowers and leaves are thick and waxy while the lotus' are thin and papery. A water lily also has a recognizable notch in each leaf. The water lily petal is pointed and creates a star-like bloom; the lotus petal is more rounded, sometimes ruffly.
This was so much fun to paint. I did the first part and then stalled because I was afraid to ruin it. One tough week and I came back to it. Nothing else mattered while I painted this. It was stress free and joy AND I’m proud of what I made. Thank you
Thank you Margot, I’m a new subscriber and I love the simplicity of this painting. The colours are beautiful too. Thank you for being a great teacher….❤
Hi Margot, this is beautiful. I will definately try this tomorrow, might take me a few goes though :) So glad I found your channel, it always relaxes me. x
Hi Margot, this was such a nice tutorial. I had so much fun in recreating this. Because of its beauty without stressing and freaking me out.... no pressure. No stress. But nice outcome. This was a joy to paint. Thank you. Please more of this.
Okay Anxiety. Okay Nerves. Head over to the playground and I'll be back for you... never! Muahahahah! I have a playlist of things to try on the weekends when I have more time, and this is headed to the top. I love impressionism and seeing the way it can be accomplished in watercolors is totally my jam. Thank you, Margot!
Margot, this is so beautiful. I love it. You have that magical light touch with your pointe brush!! 🩰🖌️ I'm going to try this. Thank you very much for this Gorgeous tutorial. Mel 🍰🌻
Margot, I am loving all of your videos! This was a lovely change of pace, a way to relax, explore, and just have fun. Thank you. Love your enthusiasm, poise, and articulate commentaries.
I do so enjoy your lessons . Your voice is not only relaxing to listen to but informative at the same time. You actually give me the confidence to think I can achieve some of the amazing work you do. Thank you for all your time and effort 😊
This is great Margot. I need to make some cards. I’ll practice your illustration on some paper and then I’d like to use your illustration for my cards. Just to be clear the cards aren’t for sale or anything. The cards are for a birthday and Father’s Day. I hope that’s alright. Thank you. 😊
Don't know if anyone answered this but a lotus flower has a very strange-looking center. It almost looks like a big piece of plastic and often the lotus will grow up and out of the water; also it's leaves will often grow up and out of the water, whereas the water lilies tend to all sit on the water, along with their lily pads and their centers look like regular flower centers with normal-looking stamens.
This is my first painting I did with you. I have watched a ton of your content but this is the first one I did with you. I am super new to watercolor and this truly was a stress free exercise. Any tips for watercolor paper drying too quickly. I feel like I soak the page without puddling and work as quickly as I can but my page seems to dry out before I can finish my wet on wet work.
Perhaps try wetting your paper along the back as well before wetting the front. (Of course this will require removing the sheet from the block if that is what you are using)
You are right! That really is doable! What makes it even better is you are using some of my favorite colors. This painting is so relaxing and peaceful to look at. Thank you for such a lovely idea.🤗👍👍🎨
I’m the type of person who stresses over relaxing, like I don’t know how, and it ends up that the only time I can actually relax is if someone’s royally screws up and I get angry enough to say f@ck that lol that’s usually when my best paintings are made is when I’m raging mad
Oh my goodness Margot! What an incredible idea this was. I am so inspired by this tutorial and it’s easy to follow. Your teaching style is amazing and I can’t wait to try this out myself. Thank you 🙏🏻 😊
Hello, Margot! Do you have any interest in a color swap, such as a few quarter pans in a mini-palette perhaps? There must be many of us with colors that others would love to try but don't have. I have more tubes than anyone can reasonably use in a lifetime, for example. Love your channel, by the way.
Hi! How do you keep your paper wet for so long during that initial wet-on-wet stage? It didnt seem like you were moving super quickly, but somehow your paper stayed wet. Maybe ox gall?
More of this please! I followed along and plan to repeat the project! This was fun!
So glad you enjoyed it!
