yes, that's the key point: science does only tell HOW things work, but not why or with what motivation! That's a real problem in modern society: To analyse our live to meaninglessness, the metaphysical "why" gets lost.. Sad but true.

erm, actually science does tell u why and with what motivation. its human instinct to ask why, thats why religion exists for example, most people dont feel comfortable in the unknown, so they turn to 'god'. how do we know about almost everything to do with, well everything, because of science, science is just looking at what knowledge we can gain and deciphering the facts. i do believe in spirituality, but not like religion, theres more to life (and beyond?) than anything humans can comprehend.
