    Dr. Brown, I wanted to let you know that a few months ago I started researching Orthodox Judaism and I was having a really tough time refuting what they were saying and believing in Yeshua, but then I stumbled upon you and your debates, and if I hadn't I probably would have converted to Judaism, but I can now assuredly say that Yeshua is the Prophesied Messiah!

      DAVID M I hope you continue searching. Just know that Dr. Brown does not represent the Jewish position. He is an evangelical Christian who happens to be Jewish. But he did not have a formal Jewish education nor has he ever lived a Jewish life. Look to him as a Christian, but please don't think he represents authentic, classical Torah Judaism. If you have questions about Judaism, find an orthodox Rabbi and continue researching why Jews by and large have never accepted Christianity.

    • @DH-kl3ob
      @DH-kl3ob 7 років тому

      Doc Obvious So I take it that you have inquired into our question? And learned, from the Jewish perspective, why we don't accept any other faith? And if you have, would you share your answer?

    • @KingdomWithinU

      Danny, please explain why Messianic Jews live more Torah observant than most jews today including conservative judaism?
      Your arguments against Yeshua as Messiah are unfounded. Just because a group of people reject something does not make them correct. Lest you forget, most jews today in Israel reject the authority of Torah in their lives.

    • @DH-kl3ob
      @DH-kl3ob 7 років тому

      Level of observance has nothing to do with this conversation. It's about what does Tanach say??? No where in Tanach does it say "The Messiah" will die for our sins, or that "The Messiah" will die and return a second time, or that "The Messiah" will be G-d in the flesh. Wouldn't G-d make that pretty clear if that's what His plans were looking forward? The very tenants of the Christian faith lie on these principles I've listed, yet no where do they exist in the Hebrew Bible. Rather, wouldn't G-d say, "I am the LORD your G-d, there is no other god before me" or "On that day I will be One and My Name One." Oh wait, it does say that in Tanach, over and over again. Or wouldn't He say, "keep my commandments?" Oh wait, He does say that in Tanach, over and over again. All of this is very clearly laid out in the Torah, there is no confusion. Yet you need people like Michael Brown to try so hard to explain the Christian message, because it is all so confusing when you start to really study the NT. When the writer's of the NT change G-d's words explicitly, this does not carry with it the essence of truth (compare Romans 11:26/Is 59:20, or Hebrews 10:5/Psalms 40:6). I'm sure you are a truth sensitive, truth seeking individual. If these kinds of things ring true to you, then anything can be true my friend. Read it all for yourself. -D

    This is so sad. If it weren't for Jesus there would be neither an apostle Paul neither a Christian. It is only because of Jesus that we have been restored to Father God. May God have mercy on those who would teach this type of word to men, women and children. Amen

    To me a good portion of the Sermon on the mount is" in context " Jesus speaking to the Jews who are under the law and Jesus is not only giving them the Law but also the Law on steroids eg. " You heard it said , but I say to you....." His sermon wasn't comforting to them but on the contrary it was to such a level that I believe most of them if they were honest with themselves were utterly disheartened at the impossibility of keeping the Law which is exactly what Jesus wanted to do , and I believe He did this to point them too their need of the Grace of God that would soon be revealed at His death , burial and resurrection .

    Brother Dr Brown, i am a follower of Christ who doesn't believe in hyper grace. However, isn't a portion of the beginning of the video true? That since the New covenant started after the Jesus' death, we should be careful what we apply what Jesus have said. When i say that, i don't mean to disobey Jesus or disregard 95% of the gospels! What i mean are let's say 3 examples:
    1. Tithing which can't be found in the New covenant but Jesus did mention it to the Jews under the law;
    2. When Jesus healed that leper and told him to offer a gift to the priest which Moses commanded (also OT) - we don't do these things as Christians.
    3. When Jesus tests the young rich ruler telling him to obey the law to earn salvation (and then telling him to sell all the possessions), isn't that also a lesson not irrelevant for us, but not specifically to obey the law but to see that we can't obey it all and earn salvation? And yes, i don't mean to disobey the 10 Commandments. :)
    There are probably some more instances like these 3, but i hope you understand my point by now. So i am just trying to "properly divide the Word of God" by understanding what was said only to Jews under the Old Covenant, and what was for everyone. I do believe most of it which was said for all of us, even though Jesus talked to Jews, not in general but it can/should be applied in general - except some law cases.
    Help me understand better.
    God bless

    The break down on the word Repent, is based on the "Pent" part. Pent means to bind or bring into bondage. Re, means to do it again or do it over. So Re Pent means to get the sinful flesh nature back into bondage, so the spirit is freed.
    pent
    adjective literary
    adjective: pent
    another term for pent-up.
    pent-up
    pentˈəp
    adjective
    adjective: pent-up
    closely confined or held back.
    synonyms: repressed, suppressed, stifled, smothered, restrained, confined, bottled up, held in/back, un-vented, kept in check, curbed, bridled
    It is 100% clear by this data, what Repent means. It is not just about changing your thinking about your sin. There are multiple scriptures in the New Testament and the Old Testament that clearly show that if the spirit is free, the flesh is bound. Likewise, if the flesh nature is loose, the spirit is suffering.
    So based on knowing the breakdown on the word Repent, you can see that this definition, which is in the dictionary is WRONG.
    re·pent
    rəˈpent/Submit
    verb
    feel or express sincere regret or remorse about one's wrongdoing or sin.
    "the priest urged his listeners to repent"
    synonyms: feel remorse, regret, be sorry, rue, reproach oneself, be ashamed, feel contrite;
    It ignores the adjective meaning of Pent and completely ignores the spirit of the meaning of Pent. A proper one would look like this as Jesus defines Repent to a man he heals.
    re·pent
    rəˈpent
    verb
    the action of bringing ones mentality and actions into bondage to prevent one's repeated wrongdoing or sin.
    John 5 : 14
    King James Bible "Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee."
    Aramaic Bible in English "After a time Yeshua found him in The Temple and said to him: “Behold, you are well again; do not sin, lest something worse than before should happen to you.”
    synonyms are not needed as it is clear that it means to stop, or else.

    Grace is very misunderstood. None of us deserve salvation. But it was the grace of God that he sent his Son to die for our sins and the Grace of Jesus that he was willing to give up his place in Heaven to take on the flesh of man and die for our sins. We still have to Obey in order to receive that Grace. Because even though Christ died for everyone, everyone does not receive this Grace. Jesus told us how to receive it. Mark 16:16. He that believes and is baptist shall be saved. In that order folks. All the examples of people being saved in the New Testament followed that instruction. The Apostles taught that instruction. Any others instruction is not taught by Jesus nor from the Apostles including Paul.

No those things are morally wrong and we can keep them now because we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit. Would it be OK for us to have other gods before our wonderful Savior Jesus? No that is morally wrong and is not something that a true believer would do or want to do. In fact read the book of Hebrews and discover that God has written His law/ten commandments on our hearts since we have been born of the Spirit.

    Gosh, I had no idea that this hyper grace thing was connected to not adhering to Jesus words BEFORE his resurrection. That's just so silly! And worrying! What do they make of the words Jesus spoke to his apostles before his ascension:
    Matthew 28: 18-20
    18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and *make disciples of all nations,* baptizing them in[b] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 *teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.* And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

    • @thekingslady1
      @thekingslady1 6 років тому

      Frauke Schmidt that's not true. This is a distortion of Michael Brown's. Jesus preached to the Jews because He came FOR THE JEWS. So A LOT of what He said does not apply to us Gentiles IN THE SAME WAY it applied to the Jews. He would shortly after His ressurection reveal His Gospel of FREE GRACE to Apostle Paul to give to us Gentiles. God was gracious and faithful to Paul and us Gentiles, to maintain those words through the ages. So nobody is saying Jesus' words should be discounted. However they have to be understood correctly, by dividing His words CORRECTLY. This is what anti-Grace pple hate!
      What is "all [Jesus] commanded us to do"?
      This was Jesus Christ's message to the Jews in a nutshell ("all He commanded them"):- "If you love me keep my commandments....even in your thoughts! Do not look at a woman lustfully, do not think evil thoughts toward your brother, and do not wish you had what your neighbor has. Oh you can't do that? Beautiful! Now believe on me as your Messiah who has fulfilled all these laws in your stead". But the Jews rejected Him.
      ....And preaching that, is preaching the Gospel, btw.
      Now, to Paul the Apostle, because Gentiles are not and were never under the law, His message simply was:- "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ ALONE (NO WORKS ADDED) for eternal life and you shall be saved". SIMPLE.
      So yes, the first message can (and should!) be preached to the Gentiles even though it is was NOT [originally] MEANT for them-yet is a saving message.
      The 2nd, is meant for Gentiles like you and I- still a saving message.
      Michael Brown is a pointificating Pharisee and I doubt is saved.

    • @fla-bushcraftprepper941

      corvan lopez You have a right to choose to not celebrate in that way. Yes, Jesus is all things. The New Testament also says, ours is not a faith of Don't Eat and Don't touch. Paul says, Nothing is withheld from me, but everything is not good for me. Jesus, nor any of the disciples forbid anyone from keeping any of the celebrations, on the contrary, they did do the feasts and traditions both before and after the resurrection. It is pointed out that those things really do nothing more than an outward appearance of righteousness. It still does not say that we are not to do them. Also the Celebrations are for the body and our deeds are for the soul. The building (Church or Synagogue) is for us or our edification and we are for God or for God's edification.
      Under the messiah, all who are clean, are clean. Keeping the Sabbath (Shabbat) or keeping some other day, or keeping all days as the same. What counts is what Jesus says about how we treat each other and how we forgive. In keeping with that, Paul says "when at all possible, live in peace." I prefer to live in the freedom of the spirit and be bound to no traditions, but reserve the right to celebrate any of them I fell like. I do not judge others if they do and I do not judge others if they don't. This way, I am not judged if I do and I am not judged if I don't. So in everything you do, do it as unto the Lord.

      @@hargisP2 Your making up lies. Nowhere does it say the Passover was to be kept until the Messiah came. Not in any of the four Gospels does Jesus say to stop celebrating Passover. The Passover is about Judgment Passing Over the People's homes in Egypt when the Angel of the Lord came As a Thief in the Night and robbed the unprotected homes of their first born males.
      The Pentecost is a Jewish Time and the followers of Jesus were in the Upper Room when the Holy Spirit came. Shavuot has a double significance. It marks the all-important wheat harvest in Israel (Exodus 34 : 22), and it commemorates the anniversary of the day when God gave the 'Torah' to the nation of Israel assembled at Mount Sinai-although the association is not explicit in the Biblical text between the giving of the Torah (Matan Torah) and Shavuot. Do you see a similarity there. The giving of the Torah to Jews and the giving of the Holy Spirit to the Messianic Followers? Jesus told them to go and do that and the Holy Spirit came on Pentecost as Jesus said. By your thinking, Jesus done and was gone and thus no need to celebrate Pentecost.
      There is nothing wrong with celebrating it as the original intent or celebrating it as the Day of the Holy Spirit was given to believers in the Messiah. One is the living Prophecy and the other is the Fulfillment.
      When the Messiah returns the bible says this will happen. This will be the World Wide Time of Passover for those who are Waiting and Watching.
      Matthew 13
      As the weeds are collected and burned in the fire, so will it be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will weed out of His kingdom every cause of sin and all who practice lawlessness. 42 And they will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
      Matthew 24
      42 Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day on which your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known in which watch of the night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 For this reason, you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not expect.
      1 Thessalonians 5
      2 For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
      1 Thessalonians 5
      4 But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief.
      2 Peter 3
      10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies[a] will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.
      The Passover Celebration is celebrating an event in the past. That past event is a Living Prophecy of a Future World Wide Event that also happened in the past from today, to mark the start of the Last Days. Anyone who knows that event and celebrates the event, has greater understanding of it. There is no sin and no command to stop celebrating Passover. Further more, Jews who celebrate Passover and come to the knowledge of Yeshua Hamashiach(Jesus Christ), will now know what came upon Egypt that night, will come upon the whole earth and know the importance of being ready. Messianic Jews and Jews For Jesus know what their Jewish celebrations that revolve around the Messiah and Holy Spirit mean.
      Do not make up lies and do not pass on lies. If it is not in the bible, leave it out of your theology. People lie and people make mistakes. Keep them out of your religious beliefs.
      Peter lied three times claiming he did not know or follow the Lord. He even cursed to make his lies convincing. The disciples argued among themselves about who was the most important and Jesus had to correct them. The disciples tried to tell Jesus not to say things that offend the corrupt teachers of the Law. Jesus warned them to not follow them, they are Blind Guides. If the blind follow the blind, they will both end up in a ditch. Paul falsely accused Peter of Hypocrisy just because Peter walk from one group of believers to a group of believer that came in later. People make mistakes, so make sure what you are taught concerning your philosophy is not someone adding in things that are not true.
      The Lamb of Passover is only Part of the Equation. The other part is the Coming of the Angel of the Lord as a Thief in the Night. The Messiah came but the Thief in the Night is not happened yet. So the living prophecy is not fulfilled to completion. We know that it has not finished out. My advice is to leave people be and let them celebrate. If the Holy Spirit is keeping them in the festivals and celebrations and you and others are arguing against it, you will find yourself arguing against the will of the Lord. There is no teaching to stop the festivals or celebrations.
