Just passed my first PST: swim 9:08, push up 85, sit-up 73, pull up 21, run 10:23. Putting that run at the end is no joke and is the reason I failed my others. Crazy to see a 38 year old crush it like that.
Impressive. Personally I’m trying to perform this test myself. (Struggling with swimming & pull ups). But wouldn’t it have been easier to record this at a college campus with a pool and a track field? (Cal Lutheran University maybe)
8:36 Austen, I don't know about others but I'm from India and I want to join the SWAT equivalent of our country. You've inspired me and it's nice to see an Olympic runner doing less push-ups than me. Thank you Austen and I definitely look forward to join the armed police. Also, since for a couple of jobs there's no physical fitness test (just the medical fitness test), I was doing the Navy SEALS PST. Now that I've applied for a job that has its own PFT, I can focus on that PFT. Thanks once again.
These videos are very interesting, I’m 17 in the dep program right now, I already have my so contract so I’m just waiting to ship pretty soon, love watching these
That’s insane! You ever thought of doing one of those Ironman races? Those are intense. I’ve done one triathlon and I was dying at the end and I’m a runner.
How did you get your swim time so low? My 500 yard breaststroke is 9:40 and I've been training for months. I still have 2 to 5 months before I ship, but for USMC Recon right now I have: 9:40 swim 50 pushups 60 situps 9 pullups 10 minute 1.5 mile Obviously these will be much better before I ship lol
@@budgetghostbusters2567 lots of time spent in water I was a runner for a very long time so I spent most of my training doing laps in the pool and calisthenics and watching UA-cam videos on mastering the stroke

Hi Austen! I'm keen to know what was the oldest person you've done this test with? Or will you see what's the oldest person you can persuade to do this test and did they pass it? 😊👍👍
Decent swim, the combat stroke would probably give him better results on the push-ups Surprised me on the pull-ups. Thought he’d bust out an 8 min run but I guess he had the “F” it moment while running :). He’s enjoying retirement. He broke 4 minutes in the Mile, that’s crazy. Kudos man on that achievement.
I’m a swimmer so all these would be pretty easy I can do pull ups and push ups and everything else the running would be the hardest but I got 7:58 for my mile so I think I would probably be fine
10:30 for 1.5 miles is 7 min pace per mile. If your best mile is 7:58 right now the running part would be nearly impossible considering all these are in a row without much rest.
Yeah but I still have 6 years to gain faster speed because I am 12 so I would probably enter the military at 18 and everybody knows teenagers are faster then kids unless it is the fastest kid in the world or something
I'm confused. When the olympic swimmer did the test it was 500 yards of swimming in 12.30min. This time it was 500 METERS of swimming in 12.30. But 500 yards = 457.2 meters. So was there some mistake, did they performe different swims or have I missed something?
So do you have to have competetive scores to be considered for navy seals or do the base scores count aswell? Also what are the competitive scores I'd like to try this out at some point.
It depends on your region and where you test out your PST from. Different regions in the US are more competitive. To make it out of BUDs prep after boot camp you have to do 1000m swim with fins (forget the time) 70 push ups and 60 sit ups(I think), 10 pull ups, can't remember it's been so long. You also have to do a 4 mile run in 31 minutes. It's like a PST on steroids. Not sure if they still do this though, this was in 2013.
