Thanks for the video nice to see a craftsman at work. What is the packing you used on the second manhole to level it before you added the precast section on top? I have a similar problem save that the height difference is between 2 cm and 5.5 cm over 600mm. If I used concrete to bridge gap what mix would you use? Manhole will have cars running over it.

Thanks for the kind words richard 👍👍 nice one mate , yeah so the I used a concrete edging to level up the brickwork, the brick work I was dealing with was quite shocking it was 45mm out of level, then I used a strong mortar mix to fill the gap in and then bed the chamber on that got to get your chamber level, concrete will just fall out the gap so you need something that will stick the mix was a 3 to 1 mix and quite stiff , that got the chamber level I just allowed for the frame to finish level with the heights I needed,
Always concrete around the chamber aswell richard when you backfill probably about 6inch thick that way you have covered everything , thanks for watching man and your kind words much appreciated mate 👍👍.

@@creativecrambo Thanks a bunch for your very kind response, 3/1 stiff I shall go for. Fortunately the concrete they used around the extreme edge of the top precast is in very good nick, i'm guessing they did a good job underneath as no movement or cracks. It was just the thick filling above, that partially crumbled, it didn't seem well consolidated/mixed in one area. If I can get the mix the right stiffness then I'm hoping my 'movable' profiled shuttering will make the job easier. Thanks again not an easy job for an old novice, your advice was most welcome.

Yeah the chambers are quite heavy definitely a 2 man lift watch ya back mate , that's why I use a stiff mix to lay them on then a little tapping down if you need to its going to push down the mortar abit , hope it goes ok for ya mate and good luck with your project, and no worries at all on the response
      👍👍👈.

My inspection chamber is massive. A concrete chamber was used to make the hole smaller but this prevented a recessed cover. Now that's broke. What do i get now? Thx

How big was the chamber ? And what actually broke are you talking about the next raised chamber 👍👈

@@creativecrambo Hi, I'm doing my drive and I wanted a recessed cover to take block pavers. The inspection chamber is about a meter long. A raised concrete reducer was put over the chamber to reduce the overall size and allow a standard cover. I've broke that off thinking I can get a man hole cover to fit over it but they are all small ones unless I psy about £300 😳

Yeah your going to struggle getting one that size they normally are 2 foot by 2 foot or 750mm by 2 foot what you can do is use some flat steel bedded over the chamber its like using a lintel and it gives you the opening you need for your recessed cover make sure the steel lintel is strong enough as your probably going to drive over it , or if you have enough height use some precast lintels reinforced bed the frame to the right height on them , I carnt see the job mate so I'm guessing abit of what your up against 👍👍.

@@creativecrambo Thanks mate, I'm going to make a concrete mold with rebar. I'll put that over the hole reducing the size enough for a standard manhole cover 👍

Good work but the music is annoying.
