Something very important to remember! Do NOT throw your weapons and then load last checkpoint! The game despawns all non-native items in the area when you reload a checkpoint, this includes thrown weapons. I have lost a small bundle of high quality weapons in this fashion. I was only able to retrieve ONE out of maybe, five or six weapons. If you are low on health, and about to die, with no weapons on hand, just accept the death. The game may despawn your weapons if you take too long to retrieve them, or if you spawn too far away, but at least by dying you have a CHANCE to retain your items. Then again, if you mostly resort to white quality items, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Just FYI, the skills that improve your 1-hand weapon stuff, like the one that improves 1-hand weapon critical chance, that also applies to when throwing, as you're throwing a 1-handed weapon. I ended up running some tests with it on a char with the skill and one without, and the one with it got throwing crits more often than the one without. So with that and the throwing crit, you have a 36% chance to crit on throws.
oh god, that means that he's doing more damage than anyone else. by throwing a random ass rock he picked up off the ground, he's doing more damage than a firearm. i love it
for gaining xp fast with logan you need to do the fury complete to quickly gain fury and also attack large group, this can easily lvl logan up to get the survival perks
For people actually still looking for logan builds, you don't needs deeper pockets, get drunken master it will benefit you when you get medencial purposes which gives you all your health back while being drunk, The one handed critical chance? it's useful because it still counts if you throw a weapon and it's one handed.
With Logan, I always loved keeping a machete as a backup and using knives, molotovs, and either a deo bomb or a bleed bomb as the throwables. If you have good aim with knives, not blunt weapons or big ones, but knives, you can cut off body parts while throwing. (I did this for Purna, so I don't know if it helps entirely for Logan, but it's a good start before you get guns.)
One thing in particular with Logan that makes the weapon durability skills pretty questionable is that throwing weapons doesn't lower their durability (at least as far as I remember). Since you can chuck shit all day and kill groups of enemies without trouble, you shouldn't ever really need to worry about weapon repairs.
Great build. Just a few things to add. Economical Throw(ET) is too awesome to wait so long, and grabbing just one level of it is going to give you all the crowd control capacity you need, the rest is just additional damage. So grab just one ET, fill up Telling Blows or Shinobi and then to come back, to fill up ET. ET works with Rage, so 3 targets more than makes up for last tier rage feat, simply because damage done by ET is multiplied by each target(30%x3=90% aoe=everything is dead anyway;)
I love the powered-up economical throw. Why? Jump atop a car, let the zombies gather around, pull out your mindblowing military knife (Dev. craft #4). Throw it and watch like, 8-10 heads explode at once. WINNING.
@FrOzEnSkiTtlE15 Normally I'd say yes and mean it, but I've gotta get this BF3 walkthrough finished. The problem is, by that time MW3 and Skyrim will be out and I will be balls deep in those games. If I go back and play DI, then I'll absolutely play with you!
This is one of the easiest zombie games I've ever played. And I've played a lot. I can't even slightly imagine how this game can be "unplayable", when death has no consequences and you literally instantly respawn where you died with double health.
Not sure if you've used it but Wings of Death skill on the fury tree is actually impressive. Any one hit by your fury blades has a 9% chance to be instantly killed. I doesn't say but I don't know if it works on boss mobs. Either way you attack quite fast with his fury, throwing out knives and after you master it you attack 4 people at once. If I remember correctly it doesn't work off of your attacks it works off of your hits, making it more useful. If you get a 9% chance every attack, then there is a 9% chance you will kill all 4 enemies. If you get a 9% chance per hit, then each of the 4 targets has a 9% chance to die instantly. That means that there is a 36% chance to instantly kill "something" on every throw.
@PicantePuce "kinda" being the operative word. It's all about how far you are away from them and what they're doing when you throw. You can't aim per se, but you can do your best to try to judge where it's going to land. Also, yeah the ol' broken brass knuckles on a thugs broken wrist trick? :D
@PicantePuce Yeah, I'm not sure what's wrong with your boomerang but I've had weapons boomerang 6 or 7 times in a row. Just try throwing you weapons at the ground for a few seconds and see if you get anything (just so you know it's working). ALso, yes, Logan is amazing at crowd control. If you get a group of zombies and happen to have an old smokey machete, it's game over. Also, check my guide on where to find the skulls and focus on the Purple Skull for the Minblowing Military Knife = you win.
@PicantePuce Haha, yeah. Take your time, enjoy the game. But when you do get there, make it a priority to have $10k and 5 diamonds so you can craft it ASAP. Make sure to collect the Brand Champagne in the kitchen of the hotel when you go through it (check all refrigerators). Then either craft several MMKs or dupe them. Either way have more than one, especially since your boomerang is broken.
If you were get "Way of the warrior" and "Fencer" which are for One-Handed weapons wouldn't that increase damage done with thrown One-Handed weapons, which means their good upgrades for this class?
@luciusnetheril A lot of good info there, before Economical Throw I only grab the second Boomerang for the extra RNG and Telling Blows because crowd control means nothing without crits :P Also, I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "ET is multiplied by each target" I haven't read that anywhere. Anyway, you could easily take your path for a bad ass Logan! Thanks for the input!
@HekaFOF No reason why you couldn't at any given time past Economical Throw you could really rearrange anything you wanted. I don't think I ever found 100% confirmation that the extra 1h weapon damage stacked when throwing.

@ea93rocka1 Yes it does, it makes you do 60% more damage. I personally can't stand the look and feel of being drunk, but Drunken Master + Medicinal Purposes is a great combo.

he was a football player and crashed in a street race (busted his knee in 3 places) and also NOTE: MEDICINAL PURPOSES (the health regen HEALS 3 BARS AT LEVEL 3) NOT JUST 1 BUT 3 FULL BARS (and since alcohol is more plentiful than med kits) ITS EASY TO USE

@XDarkStrikerX Good question... My guess is that a one-handed weapon is a one-handed weapon until it's thrown, then it becomes a throwing weapon. I haven't confirmed that in any way, just speculation. Good question though. If that's the case it may change the build up a bit. I'll do some research.

@TheSpartanK11 Personally, I see why they gave him the lowest stamina due to his throwing not taking stamina. Plus they give you the optional survival talent to raise it. But your ideas are not too out of the ordinary. I think Purna should have had the lowest stamina.
@faeleia Hmmm, I've read somewhere that you can fix glitched saves by installing the game on your console (assuming you're using the 360). I'm not sure about other mediums.
@ImSoNotGus Yes, I've tested and confirmed that Shinobi's 9% chance does work with the splash damage from Economical Throw! Could Economical Throw be any better? Nope. Happy murdering! :D
@TrendKiLLv01 Logan's rage target's each receive100% damage and each counts as a separate hit for ET. So every target procs 30% damage ET in the area around him. Thee targets make it 30%+30%+30% for everything that moves in the area around main targets. With tier3 rage it's 4 targets and it's 30%+30%+30%+30%(=120% to everything around), but that's just overkill :) Also ET1 has the same stopping power as your throw-it interrupts almost all zombies in the area, especially so-charging Infected ^_^

I wanna say, the shinobi skill will only ever proc on special enemies, since Logan's boosts, and bladed weapons in general rock, you'll one shot most walkers and infected with your throwing weapons already.
You can always wait until you kill all of them and his reflect skill works really well with infected. Plus, you don't always have to throw, if they're really close just attack or jump back and then throw.
Doesnt really matter what you do here. I'm Logan and I never throw weapons unless I use my special. I love to melee and fire guns and my guy owns. So saying upgrading firearms is useless is wrong.
Reflection is a waste it only works on enemys that equal or lower level once your at level 60 it wont work plus u should be trying to survive not trying to hurt yourself

Lol, I remember blindly playing as this character not knowing he was the hardest out of the 4 and I couldn't use my rage because it would crash everytime I do so. It was pretty much fun and I ended up losing most of my legendary weapons cause I keep on dying in the jungle xD. I did finish the game!
i actually beat the first act and what you do is go grab them (cause if it's infected or walkers they typically die by then) if its thugs just kinda inch your way to them and grab it (deeper pockets really helps) and usually i make damn sure i aim for the head (more damage) and true sam b is a crap ton better but so is purna but flawed with purna (xian is way to fucking weak) besides i like sam b too, its just that logan for act 1 he is good with mass driver
But what do you do if you´re playing solo? i bet you cant even finish the first level. and i know that throwing doesn´t damage your knife but what do you do if you run out of knives Logans stamina is low so fighting with swords kinda sucks ass. but the medical purpose is cool i have to admit. but i play as Sam B with him you can play in groups or solo. he haves high health and he is good at fighting in a group of enemies and the big guys. his fury is sick. and he can kill enemies mostly instant.
but you forget the auto-aim and throwing does'nt damage weapons, plus he is'nt meant to have big groups of enemies, also i have'nt had to constantly buy weapons, just keep getting misc. items and use them, but you have to admit medicinal purposes is a great perk, because being a little drunk but healing 3 valued health bars, not to mention alcohol is abundant (that means you have med kits that are cheaper)
Is there anyone out there on PS3 who would like to do a dead island playthough with me, ill be making a new character, which will most likely be Logan or Sam B. I would prefer if you had skype so we can communicate effectively and if you are british that would also help things. P.s if you have a friend or two to bring along then thats even better :) cos i want to try some of the tips that trend is giving out in his videos with a group of players.
I've watched the four character builds mainly to see what the "internet" suggests versus my own skill to logically build a zombie slaying ass kicker and I Have to say our builds are very similar except for Logan. You make the comment that increasing his rage throwing distance is completely useless..and I beg to differ. You only get 10 seconds of rage - increased distance to throw your knives essentially gives you a longer rage as you can clear an entire room versus just the few closest to you!
what? that is nonsense even quaterbacks have to stay fit as hell even if their position is not meant for running xD hes stamina is lower at start because of hes Leg.. that was wounded and ended hes career plus also he would probably be op as hell if hes stamina was like the rest + hes stamina boost and all that throwing damage xD
okay 1:you get your first guns at lvl 16-20 and for gun the max storage is 60 bullets and rifle´s 90 bullets. and guns works best at humans 2:actually purna is meant for medic because she´s the only one who can heal her party because of her rage. 3:i have the pc version maybe it´s that why that it is patched.
okay 1:you can find guns in act 1 and 2 her rage skill grim inspiration is compensation for that 2:xian has the survival medic stuff and maxed it heals greatl (but she still sucks) 3:sam b is not always the best (his tackle move does'nt do shit for breaking open locked doors) in the past i have had 1 or 2 times he does and then others NOTHING

yeah but after upgrade of stamina in survival he can have the most stamina from all heroes,which is actually pretty good for him

Logan is a duck(swim, fly and walk but isn't good in anything)... upgrade blunt, upgrade sharp, upgrade fire weapons and isn't "good" with any of it

I finished this game a long time ago but never used this build... so my new character is surprisingly kicking ass... love this build.

I just want to thank you for your character builds. Without the right skills this game can get downright unplayable sometimes.

Logan is even better than Purna in the first chapters
She has to go in melee until firearms pop up while Logan is already piling up range damage.

Oh. well ive lost 2 good weapon. I modded Zed's Demise witht the high voltage and lost it. it had like 1500 damage and like 800 force

@TrendKiLLv01 Logan's rage target's each receive100% damage and each counts as a separate hit for ET. So every target procs 30% damage ET in the area around him. Thee targets make it 30%+30%+30% for everything that moves in the area around main targets. With tier3 rage it's 4 targets and it's 30%+30%+30%+30%(=120% to everything around), but that's just overkill :) Also ET1 has the same stopping power as your throw-it interrupts almost all zombies in the area, especially so-charging Infected ^_^

You know,I would first go and max boomerang,then go to combat,i had 30 percent boomerang,and its bad,first time u throw it,it happens,then it wont.
I wanna say, the shinobi skill will only ever proc on special enemies, since Logan's boosts, and bladed weapons in general rock, you'll one shot most walkers and infected with your throwing weapons already.
You can always wait until you kill all of them and his reflect skill works really well with infected. Plus, you don't always have to throw, if they're really close just attack or jump back and then throw.
Does throwing a one handed weapon benefit from one handed weapon perks such as Fencer and Way of the Warrior?
His life description says that he recieved an injury to his knee, probably that's why his stamina is rather low
Doesnt really matter what you do here. I'm Logan and I never throw weapons unless I use my special. I love to melee and fire guns and my guy owns. So saying upgrading firearms is useless is wrong.
Reflection is a waste it only works on enemys that equal or lower level once your at level 60 it wont work plus u should be trying to survive not trying to hurt yourself

Why not after lvl 33 specialize in one handed weapons skills? Then you get even more dmg + % critical
he was a football player! i expected more stamana than 80!
Lol, I remember blindly playing as this character not knowing he was the hardest out of the 4 and I couldn't use my rage because it would crash everytime I do so. It was pretty much fun and I ended up losing most of my legendary weapons cause I keep on dying in the jungle xD. I did finish the game!
logan is my favourite character
i actually beat the first act and what you do is go grab them (cause if it's infected or walkers they typically die by then) if its thugs just kinda inch your way to them and grab it (deeper pockets really helps) and usually i make damn sure i aim for the head (more damage) and true sam b is a crap ton better but so is purna but flawed with purna (xian is way to fucking weak) besides i like sam b too, its just that logan for act 1 he is good with mass driver
But what do you do if you´re playing solo? i bet you cant even finish the first level. and i know that throwing doesn´t damage your knife but what do you do if you run out of knives Logans stamina is low so fighting with swords kinda sucks ass. but the medical purpose is cool i have to admit. but i play as Sam B with him you can play in groups or solo. he haves high health and he is good at fighting in a group of enemies and the big guys. his fury is sick. and he can kill enemies mostly instant.
but you forget the auto-aim and throwing does'nt damage weapons, plus he is'nt meant to have big groups of enemies, also i have'nt had to constantly buy weapons, just keep getting misc. items and use them, but you have to admit medicinal purposes is a great perk, because being a little drunk but healing 3 valued health bars, not to mention alcohol is abundant (that means you have med kits that are cheaper)
Is there anyone out there on PS3 who would like to do a dead island playthough with me, ill be making a new character, which will most likely be Logan or Sam B. I would prefer if you had skype so we can communicate effectively and if you are british that would also help things.
P.s if you have a friend or two to bring along then thats even better :) cos i want to try some of the tips that trend is giving out in his videos with a group of players.
I've watched the four character builds mainly to see what the "internet" suggests versus my own skill to logically build a zombie slaying ass kicker and I Have to say our builds are very similar except for Logan. You make the comment that increasing his rage throwing distance is completely useless..and I beg to differ. You only get 10 seconds of rage - increased distance to throw your knives essentially gives you a longer rage as you can clear an entire room versus just the few closest to you!
what? that is nonsense even quaterbacks have to stay fit as hell even if their position is not meant for running xD hes stamina is lower at start because of hes Leg.. that was wounded and ended hes career plus also he would probably be op as hell if hes stamina was like the rest + hes stamina boost and all that throwing damage xD

1:you get your first guns at lvl 16-20 and for gun the max storage is 60 bullets and rifle´s 90 bullets. and guns works best at humans
2:actually purna is meant for medic because she´s the only one who can heal her party because of her rage.
3:i have the pc version maybe it´s that why that it is patched.

1:you can find guns in act 1 and 2 her rage skill grim inspiration is compensation for that
2:xian has the survival medic stuff and maxed it heals greatl (but she still sucks)
3:sam b is not always the best (his tackle move does'nt do shit for breaking open locked doors) in the past i have had 1 or 2 times he does and then others NOTHING
