  • 2023 is in the books and Tom Voelk looks back at the year’s best cars, pickups and SUVs. When it comes to value, performance, design and capability, these are the vehicles that spoke the loudest (and in the case of the Mustang GT, take that literally). Most lists are top 10, Tom turns it up to 11. These are just brief snippets, for the whole review, click on the links for each vehicle.

Thanks for all the reviews. Really appreciated your earlier Highlander Hybrid review which verified our impression of the vehicle. We just purchased a 2024 Highlander Hybrid LE Nightshade, a lot like the Bronze you tested. Nice car at a decent price, especially since my wife didn't want any of the upgrades from the XLE and higher. That "emergency-only" 3rd row was just what we needed.

Agree to test-driving 3-6 vehicles before buying new. However, doing extended test drive without any sales staff onboard is my best way to focus on the vehicle pros and cons. One dealer balked, so I walked. Also best is to rent for 24 hours but beware rentals seem scarce. Guess i could ask dealer to take it home overnight.

Never did like Toyota interiors. Still don't and Toyota seems to be having some reliability issues on some of there models so be careful.

Sad you mixed ICE and electric cars.
EVs belong to the future, ICE - to the past. PHEVs - in the middle.
So it's not just about price or interior. It's another type of vehicles. And with so much solar and wind coming online, getting cheaper every year, gas cars will be totally sensless if the gas costs will rise.

Nope. People are buying both right now and there's no way around it. Not all people can drive an EV for so many reasons, availability and charging infrastructure being the main two. EVs are senseless if you can't buy one or charge one. It will take years for that to change.

@@DrivenCarReviews so for more that 25% of Germans (same in China) and 90% in Norway, they can buy an EV - PHEVs included.
And less than 10% in US.
      Strange.
How much more a PHEV can cost compared to ICE car of the same level? 5K?
No range anxiety for PHEV. Still most commuting in electric mode - for most of users.
Maybe Americans have an outdated attitude here? And that't the main reason?
