My shocking grocery store experience in Mexico

- Here in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato Mexico we go food shopping in one of the fanciest grocery stores I've ever been to. I was surprised to find the variety of Mexican, American, European and other international brands here in SMA. I love shopping for food and having a calm, easy, grocery store experience. When I first moved to Mexico last March 2023, I had no idea what to expect when it came to food shopping and I was pleasantly surprised to find La Comer. Although this grocery store is pricy, with some products costing just as much as American grocery store prices, we still got a good bang for our buck with what we ended up walking out of the store with.

La Comer is not fancy. Its a regular grocery store. City Market is the upscale grocery store in San Miguel. There's also Bodega Aurrera, which is on the lower end of the spectrum. So, La Comer is kind of in the middle.
The fancy one is across the street is named City Market
Agreed, la comer is just a tier below City Market (it’s La comer’s upscale brand actually) and Chedraui selecto. I still wish we had a Whole Foods though 😭
