This is a helpful tutorial for a very nice aspect of a ladies blouse, however Mr. Rohlfing used the term "circumference" for the measurement of the inside circle of the dough nut shape. However, she actually used her 2.5" as the radius, or half the circumference. On the tissue paper she measured from the folded point to the edge of the circle, that's the radius. The actual circumference would have been the measurement across the whole circular space, from edge to edge. Just a grammatical error for those who use math in sewing and may end up confused.
Someone on my sewing forum gave me the link to this tutorial and I must say thank you so much for sharing your method, Londa. I'm wondering if there is a way to make the flounce more full- giving it more flounce.
Thank you so much for doing this video! I've been searching for a pattern or instructions on how to make a petal skirt and have not been able to find ANYthing close and I believe this is it! I'm pretty sure you said that it would apply for a petal skirt. I have to get the math formula down better though...heheh I so struggle with math! It would be awesome to see you do a full petal asymmetrical petal skirt! maybe you have and I just haven't seen it yet!
I think she called it a poodle skirt. Like the ones they wore in the 50s. Back then it was popular to put an appliqued poodle on the skirt. That is how it got its name. So if you follow here directions that will render you the skirt but you might search poodle skirt tutorial on YT for full instructions and waist band including elastic or zipper.
Wonderful explanation! Easy to follow and remember. Love all of the options of the flounce!
TYFS Londa!
Hugs, Jen
