Steve Brodsky on vocals and guitar. So sick
🤯
Alan Cage, too 🍻
He is an upgrade!
@@romanroze4514 Brodsky is great but TC3 man, cmon....this band was EVERYTHING when they first came out and started playing shows. Tom was/is a super talented guitar player, wish he was still on board.
Really adds another dimension to the band
Quicksand and Hum. The most underappreciated bands of the 90's.
Don't forget Nudeswirl...
And Orange 9mm...
Failure
Absolutely!!!
At 9:55 he basically plays the drum intro fill to Stars by Hum. Neat linkage
My first show I ever saw was quicksand helmet and orange 9mm. 15 years old. It was a great start to 30 years of music
Criminally underrated, insanely talented.
Such a diverse band that killed it so early with unique style, agreed!
not to their core fans
Walter Schreifels is the true incarnation of cool.
He's such a dude
F'ing Sergio, man! 👏🏼🤘🏼
That bass tho!
bass vi?@@PerryLevy
@@PerryLevy is it even a bass? It looks like a baritone guitar that's been strung unconventionally. 🤷♂
@@FubetuckIt’s definitely a Bass VI.
Hey that's a Bass VI that Sergio is playing. It is in fact a bass guitar.
Thanks for clearing that up, I was so confused. Had to Google it.
Ooh so it's really a bass. sounds very dope
He played that on those Deftones records as well
Walter Schreifels is such a cool guy. I also met him when I was a teenager and he was touring with Rival Schools. I really wanted to go to a music festival they were playing, but my mum wasn't sure if she could let me. He actually phoned her on my brick mobile and asked her to let me go haha! It worked! What a gent.
No way! Did your mum realize who she was talking to?
@@mariz9084 I mean, sort of. I mean, she knew he was a guy in a band, but didn't know the band or anything.
Saw them last year with Clutch and Helmet. Excellent show, really brought me back. These guys still sound great.
seen em open for helmet in like 93 94 = ) they still got it
That's a freaking amazing lineup. Each band could play 1.5 hours and I'd be happy the whole time.
I saw them at Bogarts in Cincinnati on the same tour. Went to the record store the next day and bought Slip.@@06shinigami
I caught that show last year as well and it was one of the best I have been to. 👌🏼
Saw that lineup as well. Incredible show!
I love how Stephen use the exact original Quicksand sound with his guitar yet we sometimes catch glimpses of his own style, such a massive influence to him and many more🙌
Sergio with the filthy tone as always 🤘
deftones lost a great musician
They should have tried harder to keep him
@@RaviStar108 for sure

We are talking about Quicksand.
@@brainleap Oh, okay. Give us the rules
We need a Failure/Quicksand co headlining Tour
TAKE MY MONEY!
Fuck yes! So many ski and snowboard waxes and tunes done while cranking Quicksand back in the mid 90's. Quicksand, Tool, Helmet, Clutch, and the grunge era bands got us through it all.
stove bredsky in the house!
I think you misspelt Steve Bordsky.
What are you, an appliance?
quicksand + Steve from Cave In, cool crossover
is that the singer/gtr from Cave In?
Old Man Gloom bassist
Mutoid man mutant
No that’s the guy from Octave Museeum
Nah it's the guy from the Two Minutes To Late night house band.
No, it’s that guy who’s played with Converge several times over the years.
Quicksand - Slip is such an amazing album. 10/10
I just realized Slip is older now than Sgt Pepper was in the year I graduated high school 😮
Been subscribed on here for years. I've never clicked the like or got excited by a band on here until now. Love Quicksand! One of my favorite bands and Slip was an amazing album! Thank you for having them on.
I keep asking myself to this day how DEFTONES ignored Sergio Vega and didn't want to make him official as a member of the band.
I guess there's some dead link in that narrative that we will never know.
Ive been listening to them for 30+ years and they still give me chills.
Crazy right?
So good. I used to think Deftones had a unique sound and then I heard Quicksand and was like "oh".
Excellent-would love to see them share a bill with Kowloon Walled City. Tone Monsoon.
Stephen is a perfect addition. Quicksand are legends. One of favorite bands of all time.
Seeing Quicksand on KEXP is such a treat, this was an awesome set ✌️
Holy shit! i've never been this early to a KEXP release AND it's Quicksand! :D
Quicksand without Tom Capone is Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey Buckingham.
Its crazy to grow up with Quicksand as my favorite band and have Cave in become my fav band a couple years after Quicksand was no more. Fast forward 25 or so years to have Brodsky seemingly more than just a fill in on 2nd guitar is surreal.
Alan Cage is such an underrated drummer. Quicksand is just amazing.
His parts and dynamics are sublime.
So essential to their sound from the beginning. Him and Vega are tight.
I agree. So many unique parts in the newest record
Sergio is the raddest bass player! The energy he possesses is contagious, and watching him when they toured in Australia recently was a pleasure.
Cool they're really playing all their early stuff here! SLIP was an amazing album.
KEXP is the gift that keeps on giving. Thank you ❤
Great interview. Nardwuar vibes.
I loved this band when I was young! Plus a bass VI for the low end?? I mean, come on!
I also grew up in South Dakota! My senior year of college, I drove around Spearfish with Rival Schools first album on infinite repeat in my car as I was planning a move to California. The sounds felt full of infinite possibilities. When I hear "travel by telephone" I still think about being on the precipice of a huge move.
Flew from Alabama to Los Angeles for the last show of the Slip album tour in December. Best money I have spent in a long time.😎🤘🏽
Shame that Walter can’t shout the way he used to but they still sound great
I have loved these guys since Slip came out. They have made their comeback awesome with great new stuff and unbridled energy!
Younger bands take note, this is how you do it!!!
Totally unexpected and most welcome to see this on my feed this morning! I love Quicksand! Guys can still bring it.
I saw them in '98 open for deftones and now I just feel old. Killer set.
😂 for sure!
Got to see Quicksand with Helmet and Crawlpappy in the early 90s. The Outhouse in Lawrence KS. Incredible show, I like Rival Schools as well.
yo, clicked on this video for Quicksand, happily hear Fazer, see Steve Brodsky too?? What two universes just collided?
Troy going all Nardwaur style fanboy is the best thing ever.
Nice to see that new Vintera II Bass VI in action
This was LITERALLY the second live band I've seen. They opened for Helmet. Absolutely blew my mind.
My first. Same tour. I guess technically orange 9mm was the first as they opened. Hell of a first show.
@@360stockflips that's EXACTLY who the opener was lol
Slip such a great album from great band. Now all I need is a Chavez and Unwound live performance
I loved Quicksand!! Slip and Manic Compression listened to for years in 90s !!
the goats return. Brodsky on second guitar is crazy too
30 years later !!! This is pure GOLD !!!!
Just discovering this-Quicksand were amazing with Glassjaw as well- great lineup- always killer live
Sergio with that 6 string low end… sheesh
My heart explodes with pure joy. Love these dudes forever
Walter is the musical genius of our time.
Fifty Dollah' Nuemos Showz!! 2024 Ugh!!!!!!!
Thank you all so much. Quicksand you rock. Also, the mix was great. It sounded awesome😊
The mix is absolutely gold! Quicksand is better than ever ❤🔥
This may be the first KEXP performance that has songs from over 30 years ago. I'm not complaining - just commenting. Great stuff. There's a reason it's still here.
Charlie Parr has performed traditional songs from at least a century ago on KEXP before.
Always love these dudes. I think Tool may have been inspired by them a little.
Someone help me out…since when is Brodsky in quicksand??
I saw these guys with No Use For a Name and The Offspring in Worcester MA around 96, still one of the best shows ever, glad to see they’re still killing it!
Alan fucking Cage.
Stoked to see them on here! The sound is incredible as always 🔥🔥🔥
Spinning regularly in my cd player for decades. They have such a great sound. I was just scrolling and was like wtf!!! On it!!!
Bassist of deftones?
You're correct. Former bass player now though 🍻
"A job that you just can't hold down"
Ahh, Quicksand takes me back to my early snowboarding days. 'Slip' is just one of those albums. There's a lot of talent in this band. I loved when Sergio Vega played for Deftones. And Alan Cage is awesome. Anyway, they sounded awesome. This was awesome. KEXP is awesome. I had no idea DJ Troy was such a fan. I only wish this was longer...I would have loved to have heard more👏👏👍👍❤
my favorite band I'm a fan of Brazil come do another show here we love you guys. 🤟🤟🤟🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Serg looks so happy ❤
It's really good to see him happy considering what happened to him with Deftones
damn I mean they are talking about great drummers, Alan is an incredible drummer. Come on!
"Fazer" started and i'm immediately transported to the 90s... so good.
Sergio is the man ❤
Used to crank the hell out of the Slip album back in the day, especially Dine Alone- love that chunky riff. How many killer bands has Steve Brodsky played with now? Dope.
First time listening to these guys! Gobsmacked!😮
Woah what a treat. And what a setlist
Playing a Fender Bass VI! That bass tone is killer.
I've connected the dots and realized this guy's music is one of my biggest influences
Just discovered This band with the Distant Populations record… amazing
Wonderful Drummer 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Brodsky is transcendent!
I’m 47
This is what I grew up with
Amazing
So sick 🤟 miss Sergio on deftones but it’s cool to see him kill it with his original band
Love seeing the Bass VI on bass duty! And holy shit, it’s so cool to see Quicksand with Brodsky on KEXP.
Do you know if he originally used a Bass IV? or is he rolling with the recent popularity trend? which is a good thing, I'm big fan of baritones.
@@Ripzalot not sure about the original recordings but Sergio has been using them with Deftones years before I saw them rise in popularity with more modern bands
To my ears they just don't sound as good tuned down to c# like this. I much prefer the songs done in the original album tunings. I can't be the only one..
You’re not the only one…but you’re definitely in the very small minority.
Man I love this band!!! 🤘🤘
I love how the host is fanboying out over the band
Haha, same; almost reminds me of a Nardwuar interview
Walter is like a Rick Froberg on quaaludes.
Alan Cage is my hero!
another band KEXP turned me onto! thanks guys!
I saw this tour on a sweltering summer night at Club Babyhead in Providence RI. It was a fundraiser show where Quicksand headlined with The Posies and Brenda Kahn opening.
Quicksand burned the place down. First time I ever heard their How Soon Is Now cover.
Who was there with me?
Miss babyhead. What a great time to exist!
@@robertauclair2278 I got to see some amazing shows. A ton of Sub Pop bands from 91-96.
Best show of my life was Catherine Wheel there in 1995. 🙂
really enjoyed going to Babyhead between like 93-97 when I lived in Providence. got to see Into Another, Shelter, Supertouch, 7 Seconds, Samiam, Shudder to Think, among many great bands there. I can still hear the voice on the outgoing message, "Hello and thank you for calling Club Babyhead...." good times
Didn't see this show but saw them at Babyhead during the Manic Compression years with Sick of It All and Orange 9mm. So good.
This is awesome! I love Quicksand. I just got to see Walter in Rival Schools this last Friday. It was epic!
Saw them in Denver just a few days before this was recorded. Love them!
Is Sergio playing a baritone guitar for this set??
Fender Bass VI
QUICKSAND 👊❤
FUCKING EXCELLENT!!!!
Vintera 60s bass VI was sick 🔥
Holy shi+ I’m old and so is quicksand.
More Alan cage please
Top ten on my favorite bands list since their first show.
Best concert I went to last year...and probably for many years to come.
So amazing watching these guys, what a great band! And with Stephen Brodsky! Pure gold
I still remember the precise moment I bought their Slip CD in college. That album left an indelible mark on me ❤
Can't wait to finally see them live again in May after literally 30 years. 🤘
Hope you enjoy it! I saw them in ‘18 at the Observatory in Orange County, and it was a very good show
Just saw them for the first time in Santa Ana last weekend.........WOW!!!!! Incredible. Thank you for the awesome show!
