I loooved Ander and Santi, I laughed, I cried, I used google translate a lot 😅 I’m getting on the Duolingo train because I need to read more from the author and they use so much Spanish (I’m glad I’m learning though!). I’ve been bugging all my friends to hurry up and read it too
Self Made Boys was awesome also, like a perfect retelling (and there’s so many retellings out there, so the excellent ones really stand out)
I also love fake dating trope, too-like when it’s done well, it’s the journey that makes it fun, and watching characters fall in love as they know each other more and grow as people is my jam. I’ll have to check out Meet Cute Diary!
Another “classics” trans retelling is Most Ardently, I haven’t read it yet but my friend did and they loved it (I’m not sure if either of the MCs are POC though, so it might not fit your list anyway). You’ve really got me thinking of books with POC transwomen (or any transwomen) and I’m drawing a blank. The only book I can think of was a novella that had a lot of world building and writing issues (some parts just made no sense, plus had typos like a side character’s name changing within the same paragraph). If I think of any I’ll let you know!
