    I haven't tried the BRP GO yet so I can't comment on it but will connect using your tutorial. I was so frustrated with the last version I just didn't use it. I suspect I'll probably still continue to bluetooth my phone to it but will at least give BRP Go a chance. As it's been said 10000 times, they really should have used Carplay/Android auto. I'll bet that's on the way in future models.

      Thx. I had to add captions to it after the fact so you may want to watch again as I had the wrong format initially and they didn’t show. They do now.
      Regarding CarPlay or Android Auto, I actually doubt it. They have to pay a license and it really is too complicated for that small screen. Plus now that the 2022 cars are coming out with a BT only version of both, that would require a major overhaul of the dash to accommodate it. I hope I’m wrong……..

    OK. So I will go out on a limb here and say most Spyder riders are likely somewhere north of 50 years old. With that said, the dash is just too far away to read maps while also trying to operate the Spyder in a safe manner. I gave up and spent the $500 bucks for Garmin Zumo XT. I used the mount I got from Lamonster to mount it directly in the middle of my handle bars. Life on a Spyder is so much easier now. IF only BRP connect/go would allow my Garmin to attach to the Spyder, it would again make life a little easier.
    Thanks for the video.

      Thanks for that insight. And agreed. Much of the time navigation is more of "listening" then viewing in the case of the Spyder.
      And it's not much of a limb based upon the age demographics of the viewers on my channel. a few in the 45 to 55 bracket but mostly 55+
      I did the video because I was asked, but because of the vision issue you mentioned, I actually run just the BT portion to see the music and I use a USB data blocker on the connection and navigate directly via the phone's screen.
      Next I will be doing a GPS video showing how the phone will work with downloaded maps without a Zumo being necessary. Not to "knock" a Zumo but to simply provide an option to those that may not want a Zumo. I would have preferred that Garmin kept their Streetpilot software available for the iPhone but they went a different direction.
      Thanks for watching.

      Whatever device you connect to the bike will still show the small screen. When you have a GPS app open in the dash you don’t have to read it. Just keep an eye on it for the highlighted route. You’ll hear all you need. Use it often and it’ll get easier.

      @@susierebelryder492 agree, except that the phone can be positioned closer which in the mind of many folks is easier than listening.

      @@DFWMoose the more it gets used the easier it will be to see and know what you’re looking at. Playing with any device while operating a vehicle can get you a ticket. The joystick is easier. Use it, learn it, makes it easy.

      Susie, I won’t get into the argument. I don’t touch my phone. I use voice commands for everything. I’m now running a Sena Impulse helmet which has the same basic com-system as the 50s or 50R. It listens to plain English therefore I never have to even touch the joystick.

    Thanks for the tutorial I have been turning the bike on by running g the engine so When
    I get a chance I will try just turning the key to on and go from there

    • @DFWMoose
      @DFWMoose  2 роки тому

      It can be on. That shouldn’t make any difference you just have to wait for the two icons, the hour glass and the Bluetooth to clear. That does take up to 45 seconds after key on before things start reacting or are ready to connect.
      I chose not to start the bike simply to avoid the noise of the engine and I would have had to wait again.
      The bike and dash are ready whether running or not as long as the two indicators are off.
      Thx for watching.

    This was a very helpful video. If I can make one request it would be to check your audio settings when you’re recording. The volume was a little low on this one. Of course it’s been a while since you’ve made this video so you may have already corrected for that. This is my first time finding your channel but I assure you I will be back. Very helpful. Thank you.

      Thx. I have changed how I capture audio. Each camera has unique issues so I’m now recording using a specific recording device and adding it to the track in post.

    Seems overly fiddly to be used effectively. All I need are the ability to control my satellite radio (on my phone) and navigation, Google maps. Not sure why this can't just mirror my phone screen and give me basic functionality without an app. Thanks for sharing this. I'm contemplating a new 23 Syder, but the 24 models added Apple car, but no android...😢

    • @DFWMoose
      @DFWMoose  10 місяців тому

      There are certain laws in the USA that prevent screen mirroring because the Feds don’t want you watching a UA-cam video or or any sort of video feed.
      The move to Apple Car Play will eliminate some of the fiddling which I agree with you is annoying at best. Google Maps and Apple Maps are probably not allowed due to licensing limitations is my guess.
      I use my XM satellite via voice command so I’m may do a video on that separately.
      The 24 models as you noted will only have car play and maps should work.
      The big problem with Android is backward compatibility. Android today is different too much over a short term and different devices.
      It’s very difficult to program for those variables and firmware changes on the bike would be just as difficult. The addition of WiFi to the 2024’s will help

    Spyder Moose. Is it possible to open more than one app at a time on BPR connect? Like the Cardo app and the Genius map at the same time?

    • @DFWMoose
      @DFWMoose  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, sort of. You can’t see more than one on the BRP screen but the app is running on the phone. The dash simply mirrors what your phone is running so you can open Cardo after Genius and Genius will still be tracking and providing audio updates for turns etc while your doing whatever on the Cardo app.
      When you switch back to Genius it’s updated and the phone the whole time.
      The key thing to remember is the phone is doing all the work the dash just shows you the apps that are compatible with BRP and sadly it’s not that many apps.
      Unlike Apple CarPlay or Android you are seeing 8 or 9 max. And if you haven’t downloaded the app to your phone it’s worthless to see that app.

    • @genecoffman3577
      @genecoffman3577 2 роки тому +1

      @@DFWMoose Thanks for the reply and explanation tho I am still confused. Once your phone is connected thru BRP Go, your phone screen shows you are connected with a checkmark noting connection. So you cannot switch between apps while riding?

    • @DFWMoose
      @DFWMoose  2 роки тому +1

      @@genecoffman3577 you can switch between on the Bike’s screen, but only the apps the screen shows you - the 8 or 9. You would use the joystick and the button to switch.
      So I could see, in theory, you could have all 9 open and switch among them but the Music app doesn’t let you do much while the bike is moving.
      From a GPS perspective, you could just use your phone if you mount it close enough to see it. The 7.8 inch screen for GPS is 1/2 that size because only half of the screen is available.
      Truly most folks don’t use screen since the feed is coming from your phone

    Thanks for your video but still this BRP is crap and I don’t see a need to use this system on my bike at all and it still is not easy to use. BRP needs to come up with a way to use that part of my screen for something more useful

    • @DFWMoose
      @DFWMoose  2 роки тому +1

      No real argument from me. The screen is too small for the Spyder's - perhaps not because of the different seating positions on the Ski Doo and Sea Doo which is part of the problem - they contracted with Bosch to build a cross platform compatible dash which is not feasible. If you look at my GPS - Do You need a separate GPS video - you'll see that even though you don't need it - I have one. Thx for watching and the comment. Much appreciated
