Update to this video after a month of use - I rode in the rain and had no issues with "ghost touches" where some people say the water drops on the screen could possibly act as touches. I use a Tunai Firefly device (linked in the description) for Bluetooth to aux audio on the Spyder when I'm not using the com system on my helmet for audio. Let me know if you have any experiences of your own with this device. Thanks again for watching!
With the Carpuride or your phone paired to the Tunai Firefly device, the Spyder just needs to be selected on the Aux input and voila, music through the speakers.
It does read out the texts through the speakers, however I cannot speak to reply when the firefly is chosen for audio. If I have my com system on my helmet chosen for audio, I can speak to reply.
Interesting! I had not heard of this either. I keep my phone in the trunk 😁... But I am also able to answer phone calls with my Sena... You can set it for verbal answering commands or touching a button. And I know I'm probably in a minority but I don't listen to music while riding 🤷♀️. .. I'm excited for you to have this! 🤗💜 I use my Zumo XT for GPS.
I guess I should think about keeping my phone on me.... Unfortunately my go-to riding shirt doesn't have any pockets and I always worry about it falling out of my jeans pant pocket... That looks really nice on your spyder! Nice and bright!
I got the 702 also! Took advantage of a holiday sale that put it at $190. I did not want to use the RAM mount tho. Instead I used CAD to make an aluminum flat plate adapter so I could use a Quad Lock. Tweaked the design today and should have it at end of the week. Sits right on top of the "GPS docking station with dual USB support" from Slingmods. (Fortunately that docking station has a 38x30 hole pattern which is what Quad Lock uses.) Sits nearly flush with handle bars and happens to be defaulted at the perfect angle for me, dead center, with no obstruction with the F3's dash. VERY pleased we have this option, because the 2024's... well I'm sure I am not the only one who was debating on trading up. If you want a more permanently mounted set up check out the Chigee A1-05 (when this comes with a cradle mount so it can be removed easily, it will be an immediate purchase). It has front and rear cameras, blind spot monitoring, tire pressure monitoring and a speedometer; as well as Car Play and Android Auto. Thanks for the video!
Not sure if you have ridden with that USB cable plugged in. It has been a few years since I had my 2015 RTS, but I was forever bending the USB- A part of cables plugged into the same port you installed. I eventually used a 90 degree plug, which solved the issue. Keep an eye on you cable as it won't be as easy to replace as a standard cable.
Thank you! The sound actually goes through my com system in my helmet which I will do a full review on as well. I have another way to get Bluetooth to the Spyder’s radio, but haven’t tried it yet.
Thanks for watching! Built in CarPlay would be much better, but this is a viable solution as an alternative. I’ve heard the remaining 2023’s have a very attractive interest rate currently.
Nice device. I gotta say, I still love my Garmin because I can create EXACT routes (.kmz files) that I want and load them into the Garmin. I got too aggravated with my routes changing after I 'sent to my phone' with the other nav providers/options.
Thanks for doing the great video! Have been looking for something like this. Considering the W603D for the cameras so I can watch the dog kennel behind me. Re: Exact Routes -- I add intermediate destinations on Google Maps to keep it from changing 8-)
Yes I did. I somewhat showed that in the UPDATE video (ua-cam.com/video/-so56CHm5AI/v-deo.htmlsi=lkSQK3aItygnQTNj). I did also find out that the feed that I tapped into for that is fused in the right panel in either F6 or F7 depending on whether it is switched or constant. Thank you for watching!
Great video ! I have a 2020 Spyder and was thinking about getting this unit . I have two questions. What do you think about the size of the 7-in screen I was thinking about the 5-in screen? Also how do you get your music to play through your spyders speakers? Thanks in advance appreciate the video.
I think the 7” screen is perfect on the 2016. I use a device called a Tunai Firefly I bought on Amazon since my radio does not have built in Bluetooth. I’m not sure if that’s needed on the 2020. I have an update video that has links for the Firefly.
Seems like your RT Ltd just became a 2024 model! Mine is a 2023 and I have a USB-A and Stereo plug in the glove compartment. USB provides power - s l o w charger, probably 1Ah. I use my FIIO M11 with 1 TB of available music in full lossless FLAC Stereo & the crushed style MP3 through the Spyders Stereo or my Cardo. Does your model year not offer these inputs? I know the trunk powers faster and has a light. Never looked for an audio connection. I listen for map turn by turn via Google Maps but admittedly, I cannot see them so this system has a big + there. I hope Android Auto has had serious upgrades. In my van I just couldn't shut the darn thing off! Made me nuts so I had to disable or remove. I forget which.
There is an audio and USB in the rear trunk. I use a Firefly to bluetooth the CarPlay into the onboard radio via the Aux port. Mine is better than a 2024 because my CarPlay actually works...
@Y-DER I checked my 2023. In the trunk are 2 USB-A plugs covered by a rubber plug. There's a light next to it. The only audio plug i can find in the 2023 is in the glove box.
Another great video! Very informative and actually saved me some money. I was contemplating getting something like this. As I have a somewhat newer F3T info display is somewhat better. I didn’t realize how big that unit actually was in relation to the bars so that was helpful. I would think that navigation would be the most important befit of the unit to most if they didn’t have any audio features built in . The f3t has the bluetooth built in and can display the tracks from my phone and i can control my phone directly from the bike so i don’t need that function but i can definitely see the benefit if someones ride didn’t have that. Now i have the garmen zumo xt which has obvious stand alone navigation not dependent on phone which is why i got it. It also has the ability to act as a controller for your phone , not as nice or functional as CarPlay for sure but passable. Can you comment on the functionality with gloves on ? Not just the magic finger pads but any particular glove. Once you use this for a while can you do an update to show what the limitations of the trike are and how this unit overcomes it. Once again great video and looking forward to a followup.
while the Carpuride is water proof, the USB port under your steering is not waterproof and it will short your connection out if caught in a good rain. Also, the connection USB connection does not fit under the handlebar when turning a sharp turn.
Can you please kindly keep us updated on this i would like to know how it would hold up long-term durability with weather like snow and heavy rain and very hot temperatures
Yes I have that unit on my 2022 RT limited...I really like but the only issue I have...am not able to see my mgs as they come across...am not sure what am doing wrong...but everything seem to be connected correctly...also if I wish to make a call or someone ring me...I need to turn on my helmet and I can recv the call...I don't know how to have the helmet on and have the music or GPS turn by turn instructions play through the speakers on the bike and not in the helmet...now if I turn off the helmet it plays through the speakers on the bike...
CarPlay by design will not show messages on the screen, rather, Siri reads your messages through the paired audio like a com system or if you have your Carpuride paired to your radio.
I'm curious, can you plug it into the bike and listen to the radio through it? I like to switch from radio and my music. Depending on my mood. I often have an issue connecting both my bike and my phone at the same time with the stock BRP Go. I have often thought about Carpuride but unless it hooks to the radio too it is redundant. My car has the radio also play through my carplay and it would be very convenient on my bike too.

Looks like a good product and as you say, it's good to know that you have your phone with you in case you get into any difficulties. 👍
I’m impressed so far 👍🏻
@@Y-DER How do you go on if you leave the bike somewhere like the shops? Do you have to undo the ball clamp each time?
@mum-0217 I wouldn’t stop anywhere I couldn’t leave it on, but if I had to, I would undo the ball clamp and the power is easy to disconnect.
Doing a great job! Maybe let us hear how it sounds next video.

The exact routes are a cool feature for the Garmin

I started doing the same thing
I have enjoyed your videos a lot, I know you rewired the power to the CarPlay unit. Did you use the same power source as the USB rocker switch? Thanks
I didn't know about this company, looks very interesting, I think I'll check them out 😁👍
This is the one I researched and picked out. They reached out to me before I got the chance to order one.

Why have the touch screen and not have the ability for usb and CarPlay on the F3 S
I’m not sure I understand. I’m using the CarPlay wirelessly with my phone Bluetooth connected to the USB connection on my RT
Can this Carpuride unite be paired to play through BRP connect and play through the Can Am speakers.
I have not used BRP Connect, but if it does basic bluetooth pairing, it should work with Carpuride.
cool
