Bailar Lasagna but in the end he always seems to redeem himself naturally you can’t help but cry when he leave the office. Because he has grown and learned and became a more likable. person. He learned that packer is the real dickhead and he left his toxicity. He learned that the office isn’t his family holly is, the office can only be at the end of the day at most their best friends. He overall changed greatly and I’m sure he might do someone over the top things again but he knows better and I think he was a great character overall.
I have SO many fav Michael Scott moments:- 1. Him showing up at Pam's art show 2. He remembered Sprinkle's name when Pam tells him Angela's car died. 3. Bonding with Toby's daughter Shasha 4. Tearing up during Pam and Jim's wedding 5. Making Dwight a robot after all in Threat Level Midnight.
I liked when Michael actually acted like a boss when Stanley was barraging him. He asserted his authority, telling Stanley that he simply can’t say things like that about his boss, but didn’t come off as a douchebag.
I also have a fav Dwight and Michael moment in the Christmas episode where both Phyllis and Michael becomes Santa and that Michael was Dwight’s secret Santa and he gifted him a nutcracker and how he knows Dwight well that the gift would make him so happy
My "Aha" moment with Michael was when we see him home alone at Halloween, and the kids ring his doorbell for tirck or treating, and you just see this caring and gentle side of him with how he interacts with the kids.... that moment just stuck with me
I think my “aha” moment for Micheal is somewhere in the later seasons when you finally realized all he wants in life is to be loved. To me, he is an attention seeker and a people pleaser to the extent of making awful choices, but all because he has a lot of love to give and wants to be loved in return. May be a stretch, but that’s how I always interpreted him.
not a stretch at all. michael has a lot of narcissistic tendencies, and this is no mistake. narcissists are actually very deeply insecure people who create a facade of being self-obsessed and berating others because that's the only way they know how to deal with their insecurities. though i don't think micahel is a full-on narcissist, he is definitely very insecure about himself (this is likely due to not having friends as a child, and having a tough home life), and because of that he acts out in order to get attention, even if it means hurting people who he loves (the office). as mentioned in the video, once he meets holly, someone who does truly care about him and enjoys spending time with him, he becomes less insecure about himself, and matures as a person.
yes because he seeks that love and attention his parents never gave him and he had to friends in school. We know that he had no friends and was bullied and we’ve seen his mother go through a divorce and get remarried
One of my favorite Michael Scott moments was when everyone went to Erins ans Gabes house to watch Glee and at the end Erin asks Michael for advice and he kinda gets annoyed and says "idk Erin im not your father" and Erin gets upset. Then it hits Michael that Erin never had parents and she grew onto Michael as a parental figure and he begins to act like her father to cheer her up.. Idk
@@llawliet2636 and it's very interesting the kind of affection he gave to Erin, he didn't make comments about how hot she is even when she's cute and tbh she dresses better than Pam, so we can see the real process and how he go from a jerk to a lovely character
i think the most drastic changes a character went through was ryan. he started of as a temp who seemed to be the only normal one there, to a corrupt businessman, to a crazy person
One of my favorite moments was when he encouraged Pam with her art. He was the only one from the office to go to her art show, AND he wanted to buy it. what a guy :')
What's funny is that the writers did this to Dwight's character over time too, they humanized him! I couldn't stand Dwight in early episodes and then he became my favorite towards the end :) Thanks for sharing this, we'd love to see you conduct a deep dive on Rainn Wilson's character also!
Yes, his break up w/Angela really showed his softer side he hid from his coworkers, and I liked how he kept trying to get back w/her but she wouldn't and then Jim had that talk w/him on the stairs, but then left before he could hug him.
I still believe it was intentional as a friend that he saved Jim from getting his ass kicked by Pam's ex fiance rather than for protecting company staff.
He was kinda relatable in the first seasons when he was just a nerd and a loser who doesn't know how to communicate and how to talk to girls, but now he's totally different and he's weirder than that which i don't dislike but i just prefer the old one.
My Michael Scott "aha" moment of his transformation was when he visited Pam at her art exposition. The scene at the end completely humanized him and made him the most endearing character of the show for one brief moment -- that is until he offered her his Chunky bar. :)
I like in "The Traveling Salesman" episode when Michael and Andy go on the road to make a sale. It was also one of those humanizing moments for Michael when it showed he can be competent and make a sale (or try to make a sale if not for Andy to screw it up). And also in the same episode, Jim and Dwight, when out of the office to make a sale, showed they can actually work together, not argue and actually make a really great team. I think this is one of those underrated episodes that hilariously contradicts their usual character.
My moment fr Micheal was when kids visits The Office and Michael shows them his childhood video where he mentions that he wants to have 100 kids so he can have 100 friends. That moment hit me hard.
That was depressing though.. Showed how sad and lonely his life was. It was like when he faked he was going to commit suicide and then actually had to be cheered up and given a reason to live and Darryl couldn't really think of any. That hit on reality for many people. Many people out there are like that and really have no one to share their lives w/despite trying or wanting to... Even me. I'm pretty much a loner even though I want more people in my life and crave a sense of community that our society overall has broken down over the last few decades and so we're all so isolated now and not even knowing our neighbors. We all just have to do the best we can w/what we've got, but I wish people would reach out more. We need to be friendlier to everyone in America or things will keep getting worse.
Funnily enough that's what I always thought. He was trying to make himself look eccentric and funny for the cameras, but obviously at some point he realised it wasn't working and calmed down.
That's the style of the British one though, it was more documentary style, in one scene when being berated by his boss, David Brent [ironically] says, "Ooh, you're hard [tough] showing off because of the..." [motions to camera]
That's what I always thought too. Like he was trying to be what he thought he should be in front of the cameras, shock value was big in the late 90s early 2000s with the arrival of reality TV. Then as he became more comfortable in front of an audience, and more confident in his own skin, he loosened up and acted like his true self.
From a writers POV I think you missed the biggest change. It’s about character motivation. He goes from being driven by ego to being driven by wanting to be liked, accepted and loved. One is a characteristic everyone dislikes the latter is something everyone can relate to. That in turn leads to everything you speak on in terms of consequences in terms of plotting, likability, character development and how relationships on the show.
Diego Ruben jim and pam was technically the main plot of the series. Once they got married they tried the same with andy and Erin, but it didn’t work out that well, because it was more comedy focused than relatable like jim and pam’s arch.
yeah i was really sad about andys character. they fixed him in anger management, but then at the end they just threw all of that out the window and ruined him again. sad.
Daily Devotionals Same here. he was worse than Micheal when he first showed up. Then he slowly became my favorite. Then they butchered all his development in season 9.
My turning point with Micheal was seeing him giving out candy to children being all nice despite being all alone and sad after work. That was my "he's not that bad" moment. Great writing
Also on bring your daughter to work day, when they're watching the video of Michael as child saying that he wants a wife to have 100 children so that they can be his friend. Great moment.
The thing about Michael is that most of the time, he genuinely believes what he is doing is right. For example, hates Toby because he genuinely believes Toby brings ‘lameness’ and despair to the office.
But, does Michael really think anything he did at Phyllis and Bob's wedding was the right thing, for example? Banging the wheelchair down the aisle, announcing the new couple before the vows were over. No human being on earth would act like this.
@@johnjones3813 I think he wanted to make it a ‘night to remember’, but his method of doing that was making it all about him. Not a good thing to do, but at the very least his heart was in the right place.
I have never been a fan of Michael Scott as a character but his irrational hatred of Toby was always my favorite part about him. I guess it was the one element of irredeemable mean-spiritedness that survived the re-tooling of the character after season one.
@@elliottcovert3796 Lol his hatred of Toby what makes me dislike him the most. I innately don’t like people being irrationally cruel or unfair to people, especially perceptively weak people like Toby.
“Don’t ever for any reason do anything to anyone for any reason ever, no matter what, no matter where, or who, or who you are with, or where you are going, or where you’ve been ever for any reason whatsoever.” -Michael Scott
Correction, “Don’t ever for any reason do anything to anyone for any reason ever, no matter what, no matter where, or who, or who you are with, or where you are going, or where you’ve been ever for any reason whatsoever. -Michael Scott -Mukhtar Saldarov" -Tur Zo
The way I think of it is, season 1 was the first time the cameras were around the office filming their documentary. Michael Scott wasn't used to it until season 2 and then loosened up.
@@srj34 They don't see the recordings throughout the show, but let's just assume he realized he was going to be on TV, looked at himself in the mirror and made some changes.
Initially I hated Dwight, never related to Michael, but I was really with Jim and Pam. As seasons passed Dwight and Michael became my favorite characters.
Later on my respect for Dwight and Michael really began to grow, especially Michael once you get to understand him. Overtime you really see that Jim and Pam are kind of selfish, whereas you begin to root for Michael.
"Don't ever, for any reason do anything to anyone for any reason, ever, no matter what, no matter where or who or who you where with or....or...or where you are going or.....or where you've been, ever, for any reason whatsoever"
I used this exact monologue in a text to my boss during a work Skype meeting. At first she thought I was having a medical emergency but ultimately she got it.
In the first season he’s absolutely despicable. He avoids the responsibility of his job and hands it off to his most tone deaf employees so that he can blame the problem on him. His reason for not wanting to fire anyone was because he hates conflict. He didn’t want to fire anyone because it would make people dislike him.
@@haydenrhead7692those core things are still present in Michael in later seasons though. Realistically he’s terrible at his job and has a deep yearning for companionship from the office staff. While the reasoning was a bit shallow in season 1 those were still traits maintained by the character.
When I first finished the office I was so upset that Andy didn't get back with Erin. They were perfect together and I hated Pete. I think the writers really messed up Andy. It had so much potential for character development but they sent him on a boat and sent his character away with it, literally.
Steve's acting ability, and to be able to be fluent in acting and character tuning is amazing. The way he can mold into any character. Such a great actor.
I think that's the main reason Michael ended up working. Once they ditched the "David Brent copy paste" idea and let Steve do his thing the character worked.
"Don't ever, for any reason, do anything, to anyone, for any reason, ever, no matter what, no matter where, or who, or who you are with, or where you are going, or where you've been, ever, for any reason whatsoever." - Michael Scott My favorite lol It's my favorite because it's a perfect example of one of my other favorite quotes.. "Sometimes I'll start a sentence and have no idea where it's going. I just hope I'll find it along the way... like an improv conversation." Lmao they perfectly describe who Michael is.
"If I had a gun with two bullets and I was in a room with Hitler, Bin Laden, and Toby, I would shoot Toby twice." and then the subsequent conversation with the rest of scranton branch
Best moments for me for Michael Scott were: 1. The sale he made to the guy at Chili's. Showed us he was actually competent. That he actually had awareness of reality. 2. Pam's art show. Showed us that he actually does care about these people he works with, and to an extent, he cares about us the audience. 3. The hug he gives Holly after Jan leaves. This might be my favorite scene of all. He's so honest in the moment to show us what it is he wants. He wants someone to accept him. 4. His last scene with Jim. It's the moment when we the audience realize how much we love Michael Scott, flaws and all. When we finally accept him.
for some reason i'm not sure i'm remembering your #3, what do you mean he hugs Holly after Jan leaves? When were those two ever in the same scene? There was the episode when Holly first starts and Michael likes her already but then was shown pregnant Jan, but I don't remember Jan being in a scene then leaving and Michael hugging Holly then...?
@@SaneMillennial they’re talking about when Jan showed up with Astrid to the baby shower the office threw and Michael had to act terrible to Holly so that Jan couldn’t tell that he liked her. He hugs Holly in the annex after Jan left.
I also liked the time when Pam is freaking out about leaving DM and starting Michael Scott Paper Co. with Michael, and he's all "you know what Kiddo, the truth is we left" or something like that. It was that moment when you realise, Oh Michael is actually an adult... he could be a good dad!
Through season 2 to 3 Michael became for me gradually more and more likable. After he went away in season 7, I really enjoyed his absence for a while. It took me about six, seven episodes to understand how much I missed him and how different it was without him. Seeing him at the end was amazing
@@DrKwaZMD I have watched the entire series through about 10 times, and after the first few times, I really started liking Robert California. His character is so unlikable at first, but over time, he really grew on me, and I find myself almost anticipating his appearances, now.
Maybe my two favorite moments - Pam getting to the airport to see Michael before he left and Michael showing up at Dwight's wedding to be his best man. That made me so happy!
One of his best moments was the Savanah game, he used it to distract the whole staff from the fact that they may lose their jobs. It took Jim a little bit to catch on, but once he did, he saw the genius in it
This was a great turning point for me as well. He taught me something here. That the leader sometimes has to give the troops hope and keep them going mentally and emotionally. It was very interesting episode but at first you feel like he is being irresponsible and childish by not being direct. But you learn by the end that he just cares a lot about his people. Best boss ever.
You missed the emphasis on his greatest office relationship: his friendship with Pam. So many sweet moments his last episode I was on the edge of my seat saying “wait, he HAS to say goodbye to Pam” I am tearing up thinking about it.
Exactly! The episode that made me like Micheal Scott was the one where he went to the art show Pam was presenting work at and while everyone else didn't show up or put her down he was there for her and he bought her piece. That's what made him lovable was that while he said a lot of stupid and insensitive things he still cared at the end of the day
I mean the fact that she quit her job just to go help Michael start his own paper company. Knowing Michael, knowing that he ultimately would most likely be unsuccessful. I love their relationship
The first time I saw him as a real person was on the “Bring Your Daughter To Work Day” episode, where he was talking to the girls about how he was on a kids show episode and he played the tape to them. It was him wishing to get married, have kids, and have friends. The room got silent, he was confused and sad. He went to his office and stayed there. That was so heartbreaking, but in the end scene we saw him laughing and crying when he was watching the tape of the kids show. The screen showed the other kids on the cast, and they were having fun with him. That made be sob.
I always thought the first season was him trying to create an image for the documentary team and after season 1 he gave up and went back to being himself. At least that's how it came across to me
My fav moment on the show is when Jim and Mike have a moment where Micheal states that he Nevers know who "she" is in "that's what she said" That felt so genuine like they weren't even acting..
To me, Michael is THE BEST sitcom character ever. I was so bummed when I found out he was leaving the show. I really couldn't understand how the let that happen.
you would love if people were in love with you and still be afraid. you want people to be afraid of how much they love you! Love that about you Michael 😉
One thing I loved about Michael Scott was his relationship, especially in the earlier episodes post season 1, with Dwight. He kind of treats Dwight almost like a younger little brother. He gets annoyed with him, teases him, and even kind of talks to him like a child, but like all brothers, deep down he loves and cares for Dwight more than a coworker, but like his younger brother.
That's the same episode where he hires Ryan to a full position after being humiliated at the business school. Telling him that you hire people that you learn from.
such an underrated scene. Most of Pam's moments are ignored. I suppose she wasn't particularly engaging or interesting but because I relate to her, she held more of a spark for me and other older women? That was such touching, touching moment. I loved Pam & Michael.
@@joycegibbs5267 Underrated? Ignored? I completely disagree with both. Do you comb through comments much? I know that not everyone lives on the internet like I do, lol.
My "Michael Scott isnt that bad at all" moment was when he gave the candy to those kids in season 1. My "Michael Scott is an incredible person" moment was when he was the only one who went to Pam's art show.
Alana Jones I Don’t Think Their Intention Was To Be Different But To Just Voice Their Opinion That They Found Michael A Likable Character Considering The Other Comment Called Him Unlikable ...
@BIGGZ FAN Of course there's nothing wrong! You americans need the edulcorated version because you are childish and get easily offended and just can't cope with the reality, and british are a way more mature society who have been enjoying absurd and dark humor for many decades as a great way to represent reality.
It is true though, the first season never caught my attention and I stopped watching it because it was boring. But I tried watching it again and realized I made a big mistake, the Office is an amazing show :)
I watched it, hated it and then I saw a clip of the CPR disaster on Fb and I was like "No way that this boring ass show can get *this* funny" so I watched it again and it was!
@@spoffkromite7448 i tried giving the UK version a chance, but I couldn't finish the first episode. It just isn't as charming to me, but I can definitely see why other people would like it
Nothin hits harder to me then when Michael says ‘what’s so wrong with me?’ When talking about dating Pam’s mom, he’s loving he’s caring and we are directly forced to reflect on that and that he does deserve all our love
Also love when Jim finds out Michael is dating Pam's mom, is horrified knowing Pam is going to freak, and can't figure out how to play it with her. The writer's did a good job on that arc.
"Booze Cruise" is where Michael wanted to inspire his employees the whole time and failed miserably until the end, where he wasn't trying to be the center of attention for once. He gave Jim life-changing advice: "BFD, engaged aint married...never, ever give up."
@@sarasthoughts yeah except for those characters in the show it did! If Pam was truly happy in her relationship with Roy jim wouldn’t have liked her so much. He knew they weren’t right for each other and everyone else could see that too. Roy was a jerk and they weren’t compatible. So Jim took his shot, admitted his feelings and left for Stamford. If she wanted to make things work with Roy she could have, but she chose not to.
@@indiag89 Jim was a stalker, does not matter if she was unhappy in her relationship, only a creep or jerk does not respect a relationship. Jim in real life would gotten his ass beat or worst. His character is the bad guy in real life. I disliked him on that show, that is why after season 2 I was done. How was Roy a jerk? Give us 3 examples, because last I saw the show, they never showed Roy side of the relationship. We can also say, that Pam is a disloyal person, she opened the door to an emotional affair with Jim, a loyal person does not entertain the idea of having some else so close to them. Something I would NOT accept from any woman, is her having a male friend. I won’t stop her from having a male friend, but I would stop having a relationship with her. Oh, yeah before you believe I’m single, I’m not, I am a married man, going 7 years, glad my wife is traditional, she only has girl friends and the only close males in her life is her father and brothers.

One of my favourite Michael moments that I haven’t seen mentioned is when he’s freaking about leaving with Holly and doesn’t know the name of the town he’s moving too. He’s crying and calls Holly and she just calms him instantly. Such a sweet moment that always gets me ❤️
Guy Ferz I probably would have a couple days worth of free time that I spent watching the Office but if it didn't exist I would have quite a bit more time on my hands, lol! I would also lose way too many awesome Micheal Scott quotes to remark to others which would really suck.
The saddest point or the turning point for me were when we realize that Jim, Pam, Dwight, and holly are the only ones that care about him and want the best for him.
@@toprakguvencli9972 no I think he is just a suck up and wants to leverage his relationship with him to get a better position at the company when really the friendship feeling isn’t mutual and only goes one way
The best point of michael is when he first realizes Holly is the love of his life and even with the few women he dates after her he always knew Holly was the one
I realized Michael Scott is truly a good person when he took Meredith to the hospital to get help with her alcoholism. That was the biggest character development moment for me.. we could see a responsible leader there and from that time he only cared about his coworkers.
that seems responsible but its not bc it is extremely degrading for the addicted person while it creates a social hierarchy on which the addicted person is the bottom of the line
The negotiation Michael does with David, citing how he doesn't have to wait out DM, he only has to wait out David and his review as CFO, is in my opinion the highlight of the series and Michael's success. You see how passionately strong of a salesman he is there. You see that he can sell anybody on anything and get his way. It is absolutely flawless and brilliant.
I always wondered why the office was so hard for me to like at the start. I had to watch the first episode 3 times in 4 years each time trying to give the office a chance.
jake peralta Same here. 2 years ago, I stopped watching the office because of the first episode and wish I started season 2 first because season 1 was pretty trash.
Same. I keep seeing small clips of funny moments. So I decided to watch the office. Within the first couple minutes of the episode 1. I couldn’t sit through it. I was thinking why isn’t it funny like the clip or why isn’t it interesting. So every few years I try to watch the office, but couldn’t do it. 2 years ago I finally force my butt to sit down and watch it. Love every minute of it.
same, i found the first season really funny, but didn't really think much about watching the rest of the series. a couple years later i figured "why the hell not" and am so glad i watched the rest of the series.
Well, surprisingly i fell in love with it straight away! I never knew Micheal was 'toned down' to be 'less offensive'... Heck, i even thought Michael's hairstyle change was because Steve Carell's hair was like that irl 😂
I think the reason Michael became one of (if not) my favorite characters of all time was every moment you see him, you can't help but think "You would be an amazing dad." Every time he's real with himself and the people around him, you truly see him shine as both a person and a very, very one-of-a-kind guy. and frankly that's the best thing a character can be developmentally
Michael Scott is the very example of the Peter's Principle. He's the best salesman in the company's history. He's promoted to a position he's wholly unsuitable, but when the chips are down, he can still make a sale.
Or when micheal almost breaks down crying of joy when he sees Pam's paintings (especially the one of the office)....and gives her that embracing hug....then that beautiful moment punctuated with the (what's that hard in your pants) candy bar joke....just shows how amazing the cast, writers, acting....and this show I'm general is sooo goood
honestly i used to hate Michael before but slowly he became my all time favorite character from the office. He's such an awesome character like gosh he's so cleverly written. Especially in the later seasons, he's an airhead, a dork, annoying and also really stupid but he's also smart and caring and sensitive. He behaves like a ten year old and a 50 year old at the same time. Props to the people who wrote his character
it was funny how in that episode where he combined all the birthdays, he started getting agitated with toby. makes michael's intense hatred for toby a little more understandable
I think Todd Packer plays a huge role in Michael's development in the eyes of the viewers. When we first see him, we think of him as a duplicate of Michael Scott, but with each appearance of him, we see that Michael isn't mean spirited like Todd is. Todd is the "cool guy", people on the lower levels of social hierarchy, like Kevin and Michael, worship him. And that's how he gets away with puking out his offensive thoughts in the form of comedy. Michael, however, has a hard time making friends, he can't pull people the way Todd does because he isn't "cool" like him. He uses comedy to try to make people like him, not to belittle people. I think this is best displayed when Michael stands up for Phyllis and hugs her when Todd makes fun of her, reasurring her that she's beautiful. Phyllis feels sympathy for Michael and this excites Michael as he often doesn't get this kind of friendly affection from people. He gets too excited and follows it up with "I'm afraid of getting a boner". He crosses the line, not because he wants to be mean towards her but because he thinks his behaviour is being rewarded and he can't see that there is a limit after which people get uncomfortable. Tldr his offensiveness stems from his stupidity rather than his personality
When I watched the Pilot of The Office(US) I turned it off after 9 minutes because I found Michael Scott the most annoying TV character ever and didn't watch the rest of it. That was 2 years ago and now because of the Coronavirus I finished the office in a week

I always saw it as The Office and its workers gradually getting more comfortable on camera (as they are being filmed for a TV show, afterall!) as the Seasons progress. It becomes less about playing up to the camera and some presenting themselves as "perfect" and just becoming more free in time! So beautifully written and so seamlessly acted xx

@@Ignatz71 That isn't true that we cannot handle it. First off, 95% of Americans never even seen the UK Office, second, those who have seen it tend to love it. Pretty much every American that watch the UK Office loves it. I just didn't love it but I also don't really liek British comedies. I don't like Ricky Gervais and find him not that funny and the plot lines of the UK Office just didn't go into too much depth like the US one. The US one went into 9 seasons with heavy character development, great writing and interesting plots.
Jeremy S. British comedies are always better: wittier, more biting, darker, less slapstick, and less interested in syrupy endings and making 10 seasons of shit.
I always knew there was a reason the show rubbed me the wrong way in the beginning...a lot of shows are like this...the first two seasons of The Simpson’s or Seinfeld are some of the hardest episodes to get through! No one knew how the characters were suppose to be and were just winging it. That’s why I always say it’s best to give shows time because you never know what could become of them.
You are spot on about The Simpsons. I was most able to relate to Bart's character at the time because I was about the same age. A part of the draw for many was the FOX network themselves, as they presented themselves as the hipper, younger network, more willing to take risks with new programming ideas and edgier takes on traditional sitcom tropes. As an audience, it held another aspect of entertainment to be participating in what I believe was a major turning point for all networks eventually. We were sending a message that while wholesome family entertainment a la Mr. Belvedere certainly has its place, the fact of the matter is that most of the viewership were on the outside looking into a world we couldn't exactly identify with. FOX was giving us a fresh new insight on how they related to us as their shows had a self deprecating element which opened up a new avenue for comedy the likes of which hadn't really been seen since the days of Archie Bunker.
Yes the 1st season of Seinfeld wasn’t a for sure copy of how legendary the show would become later on.. the 2nd season brought some fire to the wood but not that much, while the 3rd and 4th seasons was really their breakout seasons. It’s always wise to give shows some time
You should do one on jan. I really liked her in season 1 and maybe a bit in the beginning of season 2. Then her character goes nuclear and destroys Michael's led tv with a dundie.
Yeah, I think a big part of it is the actor. Ricky Gervais plays a jerk well because, well, he kinda is one (I'm sure he'd be the first to admit it, really). Steve Carrell is someone else entirely, with his own strengths.
Did you like the original version of Michael Scott or the “fixed” one better?
"Fixed" Michael for sure. Hands down.
Such a damn good show.
Original Michael was terrible it was like they were trying to recapture the British version
This is NO CONTEST a win for the "fixed" version.
Fixed Michael is 50 times better than Original Michael
Post season 1 Michael Scott is my best friend.

Great moment
Yes me too! It showed that he's actually a nice guy!
I have SO many fav Michael Scott moments:-
1. Him showing up at Pam's art show
2. He remembered Sprinkle's name when Pam tells him Angela's car died.
3. Bonding with Toby's daughter Shasha
4. Tearing up during Pam and Jim's wedding
5. Making Dwight a robot after all in Threat Level Midnight.
6. michael was the only one that was happy for jim when he said he is gonna marry pam
@@nikitasabre1216 he also didnt tell him that it was him, he likes to get credit but he just wanted to see him happy
7. The part where he tells off his seniors at holding that he is not the moron since his team is the only one making a profit.
My "Aha" moment with Michael was when we see him home alone at Halloween, and the kids ring his doorbell for tirck or treating, and you just see this caring and gentle side of him with how he interacts with the kids.... that moment just stuck with me
Same! When the candy falls to the floor and he’s encouraged them to grab it all. So sweet.
so true though i forgot about that
He was actually sad cause in that episode he fired Devon.
yess this was the one
I agree, that was scene my heart melted right away for Micheal Scott.
Toby disagrees.
Yeah at the end of the day he was just a super super lonely guy
not a stretch at all. michael has a lot of narcissistic tendencies, and this is no mistake. narcissists are actually very deeply insecure people who create a facade of being self-obsessed and berating others because that's the only way they know how to deal with their insecurities. though i don't think micahel is a full-on narcissist, he is definitely very insecure about himself (this is likely due to not having friends as a child, and having a tough home life), and because of that he acts out in order to get attention, even if it means hurting people who he loves (the office). as mentioned in the video, once he meets holly, someone who does truly care about him and enjoys spending time with him, he becomes less insecure about himself, and matures as a person.
yes because he seeks that love and attention his parents never gave him and he had to friends in school. We know that he had no friends and was bullied and we’ve seen his mother go through a divorce and get remarried
I want to get married and have 100 kids so I can have 100 friends and no one can say no to be being my friend - Michael G. Scott.
Idk

Just reading this gave me feels! Love that episode
@@llawliet2636 and it's very interesting the kind of affection he gave to Erin, he didn't make comments about how hot she is even when she's cute and tbh she dresses better than Pam, so we can see the real process and how he go from a jerk to a lovely character

Absolutely. Ryan was one of my fav characters at first. In the end, he was my most hatred lol That's character development, i guess

What's funny is that the writers did this to Dwight's character over time too, they humanized him! I couldn't stand Dwight in early episodes and then he became my favorite towards the end :) Thanks for sharing this, we'd love to see you conduct a deep dive on Rainn Wilson's character also!
Yes, his break up w/Angela really showed his softer side he hid from his coworkers, and I liked how he kept trying to get back w/her but she wouldn't and then Jim had that talk w/him on the stairs, but then left before he could hug him.
thought he was more realistic of a character in the first few seasons, which i preferred
I still believe it was intentional as a friend that he saved Jim from getting his ass kicked by Pam's ex fiance rather than for protecting company staff.
He was kinda relatable in the first seasons when he was just a nerd and a loser who doesn't know how to communicate and how to talk to girls, but now he's totally different and he's weirder than that which i don't dislike but i just prefer the old one.
when dwight gives angela the key to his house :,) top 5 wholesome dwight moments

Oliver Jones Oh that one was huge.... heh

I like to think michael was acting up for the cameras in season 1 but then decided to act normal again later
Omg i thought the same thing!....sike.
It actually makes sense, even though it wasn't originally intentional.
Exactly.
i agree so much with this !!!
That sounds like ego with extra step.
@@gregdubya1993 that's exactly what it is lmao
Agree
Michael got nicer, Kevin got dumber, Meredith got wilder, Phyllis got younger, Kelley got teenager-er, and Creed got more interesting.
Creed went from a sketchy uncle to just a flat out serial killer
And Jim and Pam were almost ruined in the last season, can't forget that
Diego Ruben jim and pam was technically the main plot of the series. Once they got married they tried the same with andy and Erin, but it didn’t work out that well, because it was more comedy focused than relatable like jim and pam’s arch.
I wouldnt say kelley is teenagery. More of a materialistic California valley girl with shallow thoughts
Diego Ruben ugh I hated that
In my eyes Kelly had one of the most drastic changes throughout the show, she went from shy girl in the annex, to the drama queen obsessed with Ryan.

Why? Pam is unattractive.
jim and pam’s relationship is literally why i enjoy the show so much
All of the characters matured so nicely - the only weird one was Andy. His character was all over the place in a pretty random way.
Andy was my favorite character until they ruined him at the end by making him a villain
yeah i was really sad about andys character. they fixed him in anger management, but then at the end they just threw all of that out the window and ruined him again. sad.
Daily Devotionals Same here. he was worse than Micheal when he first showed up. Then he slowly became my favorite. Then they butchered all his development in season 9.
Don't like his whole cringey relationship with Angela it made no sense
Andy got more likable I think throughout the series
Kevin lost at least 60% of his brain cells throughout the series

@@Hurmyr He even bought the piece. And then she hated him for a bit when he dated her mom hahahaha

In the first season he’s absolutely despicable. He avoids the responsibility of his job and hands it off to his most tone deaf employees so that he can blame the problem on him. Pretty sure it had something to do with the producers being mad at him for taking time off to do the hangover movies
The first 3/4th of season 8 is funny. Andy’s character is killed off once he gets on the sailboat

You americans need the edulcorated version because you are childish and get easily offended and just can't cope with the reality, and british are a way more mature society who have been enjoying absurd and dark humor for many decades as a great way to represent reality.

Diente de Pollo you literally just contradicted yourself, you sound butthurt, it seems like the British can’t tke jokes huh?
Diente de Pollo I was gonna report your comment because *you’re* a dick but then I didn’t so future readers would have context.
Michael Scott is probably the best character I have ever seen on a TV show ever.
It is true though, the first season never caught my attention and I stopped watching it because it was boring. But I tried watching it again and realized I made a big mistake, the Office is an amazing show :)
It took me two years to get motivated into watching it again lol
Sameeee
Ladies and gentlemen, we got him
haha same, glad I decided to try again
I watched it, hated it and then I saw a clip of the CPR disaster on Fb and I was like "No way that this boring ass show can get *this* funny" so I watched it again and it was!
Diversity Day WAS funny, though. Not as good as seasons 2 to 7, but it had some hysterical moments.
"Oh man am I woman?"
"whada ya want? A cookie?"
yeah i mean the main point is that it is hilarious just not sustainable
My sis Kelly slapped the heck out of him and I was here for it.

I will. The UK one is miles better. I told you :)

Nothin hits harder to me then when Michael says ‘what’s so wrong with me?’ When talking about dating Pam’s mom, he’s loving he’s caring and we are directly forced to reflect on that and that he does deserve all our love
But then they go to her birthday lunch and he breaks up with her. 😮
Also love when Jim finds out Michael is dating Pam's mom, is horrified knowing Pam is going to freak, and can't figure out how to play it with her. The writer's did a good job on that arc.
@@dalailalai6335And only breaks up with her because he found out her age. He was all in before that. It’s a gross moment for Michael Scott.
"Booze Cruise" is where Michael wanted to inspire his employees the whole time and failed miserably until the end, where he wasn't trying to be the center of attention for once. He gave Jim life-changing advice: "BFD, engaged aint married...never, ever give up."
That's actually HORRIBLE advice to give anybody who wasn't in their situation tho
He did not give up on holy too .
@@thereisnopandemic yeah but Pam wasn’t married yet. Quoting Michael Scott “engaged ain’t married” So she was still fair game in my opinion. Jim admitted his feelings and left. Roy was a jerk and he was saving pam from an eventual divorce anyway.
I’ve been married 10 years and don’t have male friends either.
One of my favourite Michael moments that I haven’t seen mentioned is when he’s freaking about leaving with Holly and doesn’t know the name of the town he’s moving too. He’s crying and calls Holly and she just calms him instantly. Such a sweet moment that always gets me ❤️
That's when you know you've found the one for you too.. Oh how I long for that feeling again..
Yes and she didn't even say anything to calm him, he only needed to talk with her to forget everything he was worried about
And he moved to my town!! Hoping to run into him in the grocery store some day.
I do remember hating Michael Scott and then found myself loving him.
I'm so glad they did this. The Office became one of the greatest shows of all time because of it.
Damn, imagine if they cancelled The Office. My life would be very different lol.

Guy Ferz I probably would have a couple days worth of free time that I spent watching the Office but if it didn't exist I would have quite a bit more time on my hands, lol! I would also lose way too many awesome Micheal Scott quotes to remark to others which would really suck.
Seriously though it got me through my freshman year in college xD
The saddest point or the turning point for me were when we realize that Jim, Pam, Dwight, and holly are the only ones that care about him and want the best for him.

Amber Sauls He became a tool. Basically begging for Kelly back and looking desperate. Not to mention he became a hobo.

That's one of my least favorite scenes of the entire show. That, and driving into the lake on purpose.
After giving her a mix of like 5 different spirits 😂
My turning point for Michael is when he encouraged Jim to never give up! “BFD, engage aint married...never ever give up”
While he's handcuffed to a railing! But same here. I was like, damn, Michael telling Jim what's up!
That made me cry
Hits hard.
I agree, it showed he isn’t just some idiot who was promoted to manager by luck.
I always wondered why the office was so hard for me to like at the start. I had to watch the first episode 3 times in 4 years each time trying to give the office a chance.
jake peralta exactly what happened to me too
jake peralta Same here.
The best decision any show ever made was The Office making Michael a brilliant salesman.
Michael Scott is the very example of the Peter's Principle. He's the best salesman in the company's history. He's promoted to a position he's wholly unsuitable, but when the chips are down, he can still make a sale.
Well that's not funny unfortunately.
Anyone else ever notice how there are more office workers in season one?
and not all of them were significant.
I didn't. Well spotted.

yeah. a lot of them were placeholders in episode one or two.

My aha moment was when Michael had those interactions with Toby's daughter.
I just commented that. Biggest heartfelt moment.
Mine too.
@@Jaestarexplodes not to be lame but he didn't cry and pam hugged him (which I think meant more coming from her)
honestly i used to hate Michael before but slowly he became my all time favorite character from the office. He's such an awesome character like gosh he's so cleverly written. Especially in the later seasons, he's an airhead, a dork, annoying and also really stupid but he's also smart and caring and sensitive. He behaves like a ten year old and a 50 year old at the same time. Props to the people who wrote his character

I also think having Jim in a management position and also make large mistakes (mass birthday, getting everyone locked in) helps humanize Michael.
it was funny how in that episode where he combined all the birthdays, he started getting agitated with toby. makes michael's intense hatred for toby a little more understandable

Right. That was the point. It started out as a show to make you uncomfortable and then it evolved into a very good plot and character driven show.
US audiences can't handle the cringy David Brent led office.
US audiences like Big Bang Theory.
@@Acujeremy How 'bout that Young Sheldon??
The first season of Cheers was like that imo
