    NO!!!!! 😅 We should not have won! England were the better team on the day and should have won by more if anything. No shame in losing to a pumped up English team at home with some decent quality in their side. We've just got to dust ourselves down, learn and be better going forward.

      Well said, as a fellow Irishman I have to agree the better team won on the day in spite of any wrong decisions that might have been made against either team. England were fantastic on the day, the best I've seen them play in the last 5 years by some distance. I wouldn't be too harsh on the Irish team either because despite being dominated for start to finish they somehow managed to keep themselves in the match and almost pulled off a victory that wasn't really deserved. Congratulations to England on a wonderful performance and also to the green machine for staying in the fight when most other teams would have been blown away.

      NZ scored a try in almost the exact same spot like a minute later from the penalty they got when the try was disallowed so how exactly are you asserting they would have won? Do you think they would have scored a second try because of vibes?

      NZ won the cup for best whingers! - with England close second!

    • @notenoughstones3873
      @notenoughstones3873 2 місяці тому +1

      @@vintom7457 also the TMO actually did follow protocol. Many people think that a tackle automatically is a new phase but this isn’t correct. Having looked into the laws, a phase re-starts only when a ruck is formed. A ruck needs a player from BOTH teams on their feet over the tackle. A tackle where the attacking team has a player over the ball on their feet does re-set the offside line but it isn’t actually considered a phase under the laws.
      Having rewatched that period of play, there were 4 tackles but only 2 where SA had players on their feet which could be classed as a ruck. The try was scored on the 3rd phase and the knock occurred on the 1st phase so they were technically still within the protocol going back 2 phases.
      Having said that, Barnes did say himself that he would rather that the correct call be made for something so obvious (referring to the knock on) in a final so don’t think him or TMO thought about tackle vs ruck anyway. And regardless, NZ scored a try like 2 minutes later in almost the same spot - Smith disallowed try scored 5m from touchline, Barret scored about 2-3m from touch line. Ultimately the disallowed try didn’t impact the game much anyway as both conversion kicks would have been difficult anyway and no guarantee Moanga kicks it.
      So to summarise, TMO call was actually within the protocol, correct decision was made on a blatant knock on and NZ scored soon after anyway in a similar position. There was also still over 20min left in the game and NZ got another kick at poles which they also missed. So any complaint by a NZ fan is completely one-eyed.

      Also the logic of “what ifs” you have used seems to contradict the certainty you used earlier in that NZ would have won the WC were it not for the disallowed try.
      The only impact the disallowed try had was to slightly delay a try being scored by a couple of minutes. Hardly a game changing decision.

    Game time, 58:46. The tackled English player loses control of the ball. The Laws oblige him to regain his feet before he again plays the ball. He is "out of the game" until he has regained his feet. However, while still out of the game, he recovers the ball and flicks it up to a team-mate. Result, English try. I'm afraid the Ref isn't fully conversant with the Laws of Rugby Union. The same criticism would apply to the AR and the TMO. How did they all miss this?

That's why lots of advantage in the 22 doesn't end, it's because its a lot harder to reach a better position without scoring a try. England had a game plan and Ireland didn't. Also we had no counter to England's leftwing attack. They played the same in the second half as the first so no decision was made at halftime about how to deal with England's left wing attack. Finally four minutes to go and Ireland are two points ahead. We kicked the ball into touch giving England the attacking position and a drop goal. Instead of keeping possession and going up the centre to burn up time, possibly even force a penalty against England or go for a drop goal to put it out of England reach and victory.
    Should Ireland have won= Yes.
    Did we deserve to win = No
    Because we didn't approach the game with a plan, a counter plan ,or, a world class thinking to finish on top.

Did you Nigel not replace Marius van der Westhuizen as an AR for the 2018 6 Nations gqme between Ireland and England because he had attended an England training session. What message does that give to teams? Give away the pen and as long as numbers are even you have stopped the chance of a try being scored against a scrambling defence. No try was the correct decision. The video clips show the hand on the ball pressing on to the England player but not on the ground then the ball probably touching the ground but no view of any contact with the French hand hence there was no way a try could be given as there was no proof that the ball was still in the control of the French player when it was grounded.
