I grew up with Ralph Stanley and Larry sparks and I'm 63 years old but this guy is the future of bluegrass I hope I live long enough to go see him in person
First time I heard this song was on the Andy Griffith show by the Darlings. As a young man, listening to Charlene,I thought what a beautiful song. Now at 70, I listen more carefully to the words as they have a more profound meaning for me. Good rendition Billy....
I first heard this done on The Andy Griffith Show & loved it so much I had to look it up. Then I stumbled onto this version by this band & I love it even more. My goodness, they did a beautiful job! Each instrument was so amazing just like their voices. One of my new favorite songs!
Wow! I first heard this song on the Andy Griffith Show. I loved it then. I still love it. I've heard many versions of it, and this is right up there with the best........
'Bluegrass Preservation', when one hears a beautiful song, that is the time to "memorize by heart". As this song "There is a Time" as beautiful as "Down in the Valley" accompanied by Andy Griffith who portrays Andy Taylor on The Andy Griffith Show and the famous actress, his younger years' "nurse girlfriend" who sings the song "Down in the Valley" as beautiful and lovely as the Dillard s (The Darlings) and Maggie Peterson (Charlene Darling) does in The Andy Griffith show with accompaniment. This comes from a Roman Catholic, I grew up on many TV movies, songs, and time. Andy Griffith was also a Singing Artist. The Dillard s brought Bluegrass into a popularity that is stretched out today in many Artists, to include popular past Country Music, (and the suggestion of Bluegrass in of one Black Artist named Rhiannon Giddens in 'Wayfaring Stranger' UA-cam Video). However, the true Bluegrass Artists have sung for generations and the older ones should be listened first, as it is a logic history understanding as one, two, three, one two three, four step of two different Waltzes of learning and feeling of the Regional North American "Bluegrass People (of Artists)" own understanding of why and how they sing their storytelling songs, if you can take the top cream of the churned butter to keep as your own as you hear their "Kentucky Bluegrass" origin flower "over yonder". Don't forget to listen to Rafe Hollister, "That Lonesome Road" (actor Jack Prince II), The Andy Griffith Show, UA-cam Video. Definitely this UA-cam video has the same smooth "Bluegrass". Billy Strings Video. I grew up in the Western USA, never been out of the USA, and I am currently in Denver, Colorado, USA. I am not in a popular Old West of any Country Music or Bluegrass, when the horses-Mustangs, Wild Horses-have left then, the cowboy, cowboy hat and boots are rare to see. The Native Americans, though have kept many music genres alive, especially Country with Bluegrass songs. I love to hear the West sung by these Native American Bands, Cowboy hats, jeans, trucks, boots, horses, land, and West. There are many of Natives who are friends with their peers, the Western Cowboys/gals, especially the Ranchers and Rodeo, and Agricultural community. Ordinary days I see the rare Cowboy, mostly the John Denver Western Mountain people. His music is timeless, too. Thank you.
Same here deejo2 Andy Griffith and all have been great for decades, I still watch'em TV land and I bot a 3 disk set sat sams club. very nice sone with lotsa truth to it.

Like Andy said when Charlene Darling sang this song, " I do believe that's the prettiest thing I've ever heard"
Agreed.
I like how Andy quits playing his guitar and just listens.
" but that one makes you cry pa - I'll fight it . . . ." no fighting it
Scott watching it right now. The episode is called The Darling Baby.
Wonderful, I agree 🤗💯

We lost Maggie Peterson this year... I hear this music, but I hear her voice.
I believe that the Dillard's wrote this old tune. This song always makes you cry Pa.
Been looking for a guitarist actually picking on this tune and not just strumming. Billy Strings never disappoints.
Billy Stings is truly annointed. Thank you for this beautiful version of There is a Time .
What a talent. This is some fine version of the old Dillards song. Beautiful!

This a Dillard's song (they played the characters - The Darlings on the AGS). Doug Dillard was an amazing banjo player.

The Darlings
So many songs you can do
They get more from 4 players than a full orchestra
He looks like he could be Charlene Darlings Brother.
Plase, reaction guitaris alip ba ta from Indonesia

This song would sound even better with a flutist who could play bluegrass.....
jisoo and barkus park restore barkus park to nature.
Good version, but the Dillards do it a bit better. It is a fine song.
The great thing is he just introduced it to 1000 young folks that have never heard of Dillards.
the dillards also do this song nicely :D
What is that guitar Billy's playing, Folks?
Looks like a Martin
Why are you starting to look like Justin Beiber? Please stop that!
