Oh so many years ago I went to see The Sound of Music with my elementary school class. I am now 67 and I have loved that movie ever since. This rendition of the song just blew my mind. It's so very good. I am amazed.
@@rebeccakennedy1167 Well .... I saw that movie a number of times, along with the other ones you mentioned, but my brother and I had free tickets to the movies because Mum used to sell the ice creams in the Theatre. Come February I will be a wee bit older than you ....79 eh.
Sound Of Music was 1st film I saw in a theater. With ushers in uniform and flashlight to guide you to seat. The curtains and seats were red velvet with gold trim. The ceiling was painted blue with clouds like the sky. It was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen. The theater was also and 1st a playhouse and then a movie theater. It was 1965. I was 4 years old. I still know every song by heart. My parents had the 33rpm long play vinyl record album. We played it on console stereo.
Years later it astounded me that i watched this movie as a kid without noticing the nazis.

Following the announcement of his death, his The Sound of Music costar Julie Andrews paid tribute to Plummer:

Indeed! Class acts, both of them. And little did I know, when I watched The Sound of Music for the umpteenth time the Sunday before last Christmas, that we would lose Christopher Plummer not 7 weeks later. R.I.P.

It is now just over a month since I made this video, and the situation with Trump and his refusal to concede has gone from shockingly comical to dangerous. I expected flack from his supporters when posting the song, and have received all sorts - threats to be sued, privately sent hate messages, being preached at and given the gambit of conspiracy theories, not to mention the hundreds of angry comments here on this platform.
I only delete video comments that are very rude or self-promoting, and have chosen to have silence as an answer for most negative ones on here. I realise that many of the pro-Trump comments are from people who genuinely believe/d him to be God's chosen one for the job, and any criticism of that was seen as a knock to all they believed in.
If you are one of these people, now, in the wake of the Capitol riot, and maybe questioning your loyalty now, I want you to know that I still won't respond individually to your old comments. Believe me, it is so tempting to leave a snarky response on the MANY comments that have told me to wait and see till 6 January, but I know that I am embarrassed about my own misguided zeal for many things in the past. This is not about Left vs Right or people picking on you - Trump was and is a dangerous man and around the world, people have been shocked that he has amassed such a following. It is my sincere hope that you will reevaluate your position on Trump and that in the sure to be difficult weeks and months ahead, the people of the USA can truly become united again, regardless of political preference.
I had for the past few months on going back and forth comments with Trump supporters, a number of whom said I had the brain of a child (a play on my nom de plume).
When some of them insisted that there was no way sleepy Joe could have received so many votes. I questioned that if many of the votes were fraudulent, then why did the democrats lose seats in the house, and why did they not have a clear majority in the senate? I was met with silence.
Anyway, after the riots at the capitol, none of them has messaged me.
From a sane person, keep going Shirley, your videos are amazing! They're a real cheer in all this crazy stuff going on in the world.

To be fair, if democracy were subverted that day, so would freedom of expression. Keep doing what you do best, and expressing the most tumultuous times the best cheerful way how... in song! Keep being bright sunshine! ☀️

Hi Shirley! Thanks for your kind response. About Covid i don’t think any of us know who or what to believe. ALL POLITICIANS want to play with our lives. I truly believe in every precaution. I still wear a mask and am fully vaccinated . I’ve lost loved ones from the Covid beast.
I believe life would be much happier for all of us if we thought about entertainment over politics. I was thrilled with cat rhapsody and thought I found something I could watch to get away from all the crap…guess I was wrong. We had 8 cats and lost 3 within a year. We still have 5 and they are all senior cats and who knows how long they will be here.
Life is to short to say or do things that divide us. But then again that’s what some want. I appreciate your time and response. All the best and much success. 😺
