Built in 1926, this mansion was once one of the area’s finest homes. Complete with 12 rooms (most with its own fireplace), servants quarters, a separate servants staircase and an elevator, this 4,500 square ft waterfront estate sits on over 30 acres of land. The house was sold to Director John Lee Thompson in 1998 - he’s a Hollywood director best known for movies such as Cape Fear, Woman in a Dressing Down and Planet of the Apes. After his passing in 2002, the Thompson family sold the home and it’s been forgotten ever since. It’s such a shame to see a once magnificent home left to rot and be destroyed by vandals.

Well done Nikki!
Thanks 🙌
That's so sad to see that house has only been abandoned 20yrs and is in that shape. Also love the channel name and the vibes you give off. You've got a new subscriber forsure!
I agree, really sad! Wish it had been taken care of. I so appreciate this comment and your positive feedback. I try to give off the best vibes possible 😊😊😊. Have a great day!
Wow what a cool place! Once a lovely home.
Wish I could travel back in time and see it in all it's glory!
I’ve been getting into exploring abandoned places lately on van island, wondering if there’s anyway you can let me know where this is but not publicaly so word doesn’t spread more and it get vandalized more?
Love this video!!
What a cool place to explore, the editing was great - the history and photos of the movies was a great touch, and can we talk about that drone footage?! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Too bad to see all that vandalism on a house only abandoned for 20 years.
Wish there wasn't so much vandalism ☹. It's only really happened in the last 3-4 years. There are photos of the house posted from 2018 and it's barely touched. Freakin' vandals!
Hey cool video!! 😊👍✌️♥️🇨🇦
Hey Andy! Thanks so much 🙌

Hi Fred, thanks for stopping by. Appreciate your comment and time :) Take care!
Absolutely love the music ❣️ thanks for the tour. I'd be curious to do some research as to maybe why it wasn't ever restored. ie tax credit
Hey Brad, thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the music. I'm so curious, but there isn't much more information online. Maybe I'll do some digging!
Very interesting the house story. Congratulations for filming my friend 👍
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it 🙂
I bet that was a beautiful house in its day. Too bad it’s been so heavily vandalized.
Agreed. I can only imagine the beauty of those sitting rooms with the giant windows and views of the ocean! 😍 Such a shame it's been left behind.
I wonder if these houses can be bought?
I think this property was for sale!
Very cool ! Sad to see the state of the home!
I know, a real shame it's been forgotten. Absolutely gorgeous property!
I really liked that you gave a brief history of the place. Your editing cuts and fast forwards were well done. Music fit the video, the only issue was when you did voice over the music drowned you out a little. I'm a huge fan of Brent's work and an avid abandoned video viewer and I must say for this place you did a perfect job due to your editing. (Brent's video was a little too long cause every room looked the same, but don't tell Brent I said this.) 😉 You earned a new subscriber.
Hey Jimmy! This comment made me feel great, thanks for sharing this positive feedback. Glad you enjoyed the way I edited the video. Your secret is safe with me 😉. Happy to have you following along.
spooky. giving me Blair Witch vibe!
It kind of does, doesn't it! It was very dark and creepy in there.

me: haha how is sussy baka offensi- oh.....
Offensive ☑️😂
Where is this! I want to visit to take photos!!!
Hey, it’s in Sooke, BC
@@DameUntamed I found it on google maps i was planning on going this weekend. Did you contact anyone to enter? If so i would love to contact them to ask permission to enter.
Anything with less sf than mine isn't a mansion.
Well to the average human, 4,500 sq ft is most definitely a mansion. Lucky you to be so privileged! 😜
Love the abandoned stuff but that pounding music …had to mute
You don’t need music pumping …these are old homes and subtle is the way to present them
Just an opinion
Your channel…do what you thinks best but that music is a massive no no
Can't please everyone with music 🙂. Thanks for the feedback!
@@DameUntamed I enjoyed the music. I didn’t like how it was loud at times and quieter when you were talking. I think if it were kept at the lower volume, consistently, throughout the whole video, it would be perfect!!! It didn’t ruin it for me though. What an amazing explore! Your camera work is great! I subscribed and can’t wait for more 🙌🏼👏🏼👍🏼😃😃
@@Emzzz78 Hey Em! I really appreciate this comment. Normally I have the music all set to play at the same sound level, but it looks like I may have forgot to adjust the volume before I exported the file. Oooops, just dropping the ball over here 😂. Definitely a good reminder for me, so thanks for the feedback! Have a great day 😊.
Did you say Vancouver Island. It would be nice if you could speak a little clearer or slower. One of my favorite subjects otherwise I wouldn’t care.
Will keep the speaking slower in mind, thanks for the feedback. Yes, Vancouver Island!
To anyone looking to enter this place. Please ware a mask or respirator. This place was full of asbestos walls and it will still linger in the air as it continues to deteriorate. No I will not tell you where it is, I have been here many times.
Hi Tristan - thanks for this reminder! We didn't realize how bad it was. Masks would be. a good idea.
@@DameUntamed for sure! for safe reference any house that was build before the 60’s will almost certainly have asbestos in the walls and ceilings, respirators should be used if entering. it was used heavily up until the 70’s although a bit less closer to that period in residential, it can still be found today in residential homes in pipe insulation that has remained untouched or even old apartment walls. Asbestos is safe until disturbed, then is a large issue. Asbestos was placed on a restricted/banned toxins list in the mid 70’s. Always take caution when exploring abandoned buildings, especially commercial building or residential anything predating the 60’s for sure. If you have or notice breathing issues or lung issues please seek medical attention, asbestos fibres can lead to fatal lung issues. Take care!
