This mountainside abandoned bunker was once a Canadian concrete coastal gun battery. It was operational between 1939-1956, and served as part of the WWII joint US & Canadian Harbour Defense of the Juan de Fuca Straight. During its final years as an active gun battery, it was armed with 6” Mk24 guns on 45 degree MK6 mounts. After decommission in the mid 1950’s, the site was used by the Department of National Defense for military training. The guns were later removed and it’s been abandoned for years.

Hello! Greetings from România 🇷🇴my friend 🤗There are many such artifacts, which remind us of unpleasant times. Your good movie. Congratulations!
Yes, they are a reminder of hard times for sure. Thank you for watching and welcome to my channel ☺.
An awesome video
Thanks Dave! Was such a cool place to explore. Really felt like I travelled back in time after learning more about the place.

Pretty cool!
Hella cool cool cooooool
Great job on the voice-over in this one, lowered the music just right. Nice cartwheel too. You should challenge Brent to one up that cartwheel in his next explore. 😆
Hey, appreciate the feedback! Just trying to give the people what they want over here 🙋. That cartwheel was a 10/10... no way he could top it 😉.
Take me I love go to exploring and filming
Exploring and filming are some of my favourite things to do!
Where is this.
In a land far far away
Filmed excellent! Really like the drone work !
Oh on a couple islands there are abandoned military bunkers you should visit and film !
I like this kind of history !
Thanks Norman, glad you liked this one. The drone shots of this place really helped bring it to life.
@@DameUntamed Yes the Ariel drone seems to add that missing perspective angle where the layout makes sense !
Hello,
I am with the 85VICS, an attachment of the Vancouver Artillery Association. We're based out the the Bessborough Armoury (15th Field Artillery).
We maintain a Coastal Artillery Battery located at Yorke Island B.C. through the Vancouver Artillery Association in partnership with Parks B.C.
We may have opportunities to go to the Point Grey Battery and Yorke Island (again).
Are you possibly interested in coming along for a trip?
Best Regards,
85VICS
Hey there! Wow, that sounds really cool. Looks like it would be an interesting place to explore. I might want to take you up on that offer, sometime!
I'm extremely interested! I would love to take photos for your needs and or visit to document.
@@DameUntamed we are headed to Yorke Island this September with Parks B.C.
Unfortunately our trip is full for the time being. We may have one more "official" trip later this year, but it's one of those things where any later in the year and the weather can become a concern.
Can I pencil you in for next year? We've been at this for more than a decade now, so next year will be happening around April.
@@DameUntamed I forgot to mention Point Gery can be done all year. No plans on that as of yet.
i know where this is, all i want to know is, can you just walk in ? or did you have permission ?
I did not receive special permission.
