@@martinryan8101 No not really, he’s fishing for truly wild, natural and very rare fish, so considerably harder to catch than most fish. Definitely each to their own and yes, it’s just fishing but some catches are more worthy of praise.
Stew pond carp🤔🤔 Ain't these stew pond roach? And if it wasn't for these "stew pond carp anglers" putting bait in these roach wouldn't even be half the size people like you crack me up😂😂
Wow mate what beautiful roach 😮👀 I used to love catching roach, back in my fishing days back in the 80s & 90s on my local canals & rivers in the midlands. Be it hemp & tares, bread punch, casters, or bloodworm & joker fishing in the winter. I regularly caught nets of roach over 20lb down my local cut on hemp & tares, and back in the 80s my mate and me discovered bread punch and we would catch over 100 roach on rod & reel in a few hour winter session. My best ever roach was 2 lb 3 oz beauty caught in Wales in about 98. I caught it using a pole at 10 metres, fishing a foot deep on sweetcorn and constantly feeding casters & corn - I was actually fishing for carp 😆 Even though I beat that mythical 2 lb weight, the roach I caught down the canal over the years that weighed a pound and half were fish I value more, just going on the ease I caught big roach from that commercial carp pond in Wales, whereas the canal & river roach are much harder to catch in my opinion. I just get bored on the commercial ponds because it's so bloody easy to catch those fish. I used to prefer the challenge of catching proper wild fish. Some guys love catching 100 lb or more nets of carp but I'd rather have caught 25 lb of roach 3-4 oz and bigger 👍
Excellent video clip roach are my favourite fish I caught a pound and half roach last week I was dead happy can’t imagine a three pounder well done mate
I no longer fish but when I did 20 years ago roach were my favourite and I had a number Of 2lb plus fish on the Upper Great Ouse. My most remarkable memory was being witness to a catch of 18 fish by another angler in one session that were all over 2lb with the biggest being 2lb 11oz..... What a wonderful sight to see your brace of roach and in such lovely condition. 4lb 2oz....PHEW!!....Never thought I'd ever see one that size.
What a fantastic film, really captured the magic of fishing, topped off by one of the greatest catches in coarse fishing history. More of these video please Drennan, and Dan! Dreaming does come true!
That’s probably the best fishing video I ever seen…sadly we lost all our fishing in Ireland to Eastern Europeans … What’s the music on the video Beautifully filmed video… inspired all over again😊
What an amazing brace of beautiful Roach, 2 fish for 8lbs is fantastic I would have still been shaking after one never mind two , as mentioned previously this is worth so much more than tons of pond pig’s, a great achievement 👍👍👍👍
Amazing video absolutely awesome brace of fish Congratulations to Daniel pure fishing these roach are so beautiful and very rare in uk waters now the cormorants have destroyed the uk stocks of roach,i remember going to the river stour catching 2LB and 3 LB roach back in the 70's and early 80's i remember john Wilson warning about the european cormorant there a threat to uk freshwater fish especially the roach i carry a high powered air rifle and i shoot cormorants on site and will keep doing so until something is done about this bird so far i have shot 45 cormorants there should be a massive cull on these cormorants
There are tales of big fish.. and then there are tales of big fish. This was an epic catch and retold in such a captivating way with the filming to evidence it all. Well done to Daniel - all his efforts have been justly rewarded and thank-you to Drennan for putting together a professional bit of film for us all to enjoy.
Got goosebumps just watching this vid. What an achievement absolutely amazing. I doubt there will ever be another 8lb brace of Roach a truly stunning catch well done Dan.
@@septicsceptic419 goes to show what is out there though if you're willing to put the effort in. Nice to see big roach that aren't from a "Norfolk stillwater"
Absolutely crazy. Did he say he purposefully sought out a lake he knew had a low stock of fish? If so nice to to think there's some undiscovered stuff out there.
Thoroughly genuine angler and top bloke. Hard work and focus to achieve an almost unbelievable catch. Relatively simple rigs and watercraft. Great film, captured beautifully that sense of strange unreality when an angling miracle actually happens beautifully
What a pair of magical fish . Reminds me of the biggest roach I’ve ever seen which was caught in a match at ardleigh reservoir. I was lucky enough to be among the first to ever fish there when it opened for coarse fishing .It was full of massive shoals of huge roach. And we was regularly catching forty pounds bags with probably five over two pounds on the waggles. Then we started the original famous grouse league which I ran with the late Dennis Salmon. I think I remember rightly that two fish were weighed at 3-11 one for Billy Allen and one for John Howe
Top class angling and a brilliant video, surely this must be the best brace of roach (or even best British brace of any species )ever caught , massive achievement , beautiful fish top guy as well . Well deserved
Cracking fish and great video. Packed up coarse/ match fishing years ago but always loved catching roach, dace and chub. My best was 3 dace for 2lb 15oz. You've got me pining for those days again. Cheers and well done
that has to be the best IE condition brace of roach i’ve ever seen😳,my PB is 2lb 7oz from the Abbeydale Hamlet 30+ years ago and sadly the water was drained due to damage to the water mill dam and it was never the same again😞,i’ve also had roach over 2lbs from the Don and Sheaf in sheffield 😁 but again 30+ years ago (i fish for carp nowadays) but sadly those scenarios are few and far between nowadays 😞,Top 🎣 man🙂👍.
Magnificent testimony of angling. It reminds me "roach from the twilight zone" in "improve our coarse fishing may 1997" where top angler Mick Dinnigan reveals his secrets with helicopter rigs, spicy maggots in modified feeders, and two splendid avon style 1.25 lbs tench kevlite specialists on bite alarms too. Back to basics is often the key to succes. Tight lines and greetings from France.
in 40years of coarse fishing i have never seen such a catch .had a few 1 lb+ and a couple mid 2 lb roach in that time many years ago... so great to see that large roach are still out there....
Superb video Dan , what can be said about those fantastic Roach , you really have rung the bell , they are fish of every Roach anglers dreams , your dream has come true , congratulations 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Shaking is spot on - took a 3kg wild brown on an invented fly & home-made rod in a shallow loch - it ran & jumped for 40 minutes - I couldn't even fish for an hour afterwards. We are spoiled in Scotland...

absolutely brilliant Daniel WOOLCOTT, catch of a life time, roach like that are as rare as rocking horse poo and a very nice video from Drennaninternational, thank you and obviously keep the water's to your self or it will get overrun, 👍
wow I've had with my mate 5 roach to 3lb 2oz smallest 2lb 7oz in the 80s and that was a lot of hard work from dragging a swim building a raft to fish off an island and pre-baiting once a week for 2 months with a small amount of bread these fish are so unbelievable and In my eyes better than catching any carp well I'm just blown away by the size well-done mate kind regards Mr. D

What a fantastic catch, congratulations and thanks for telling us your secrets, you're a real expert, unlike me, however I would like to offer my twopence worth. I've never fished for roach on a lake, all of my 2lb fish have been on a float on rivers or drains. I agree about hook size but I usually go even bigger and use 10s, I use a 5lb line straight through to the hook, in my experience big roach aren't tackle shy and I don't want to loose any fish in the inevitable lilies. By the way I've always found bread flake to be much better than maggots, however I don't have to cast it out your sort of distances, it would probably come off.
Very well done Dan on that fantastic once in a lifetime brace of roach. Lovely short film and very informative and well done to Dan and Drennan on another great production. 2 roach for 8lb is just amazing.
