I make a product for a living from hand and one thing I've learned over the years is even if you hate it, someone out there will. So stop wasting time hating on it and go make better one.... I think the pot looks great haha
Hi Aaron, if you used templates for your slabs, you must have known what it would look like after building? Or do you mean to crank out load's of sketches multiple angles before doing the templates next time? The pot turned out fine! Can you show us how you shape your long strips around the middle into nice circular detailing, and what you use as a tool/template. Thanks
What surprised me was how, at this scale, the large sides relative to the thin lip seemed out of proportion and awkward... Great suggestions to share the shaping tools. I'd be happy to work on that when I get some time.
@@aaronstratten9594 Yeh I get you, this is what is all about, just keep on learning. Thanks Aaron I really look forward to that one so I can try it myself. Have a good one!
Not sure why your pot wasn't good without the extra detail bands. It looks like a classic shape. A good base for some interesting texture and/or glazing. I'm not a fan of a bold glaze pulling the viewer's eye away from the focal point of the plant that is in it. HOWEVER a glaze that compliments the pot shape can only enhance the overall bonsai.
Ceramic pots can be glazed or left unglazed. Glaze can be purchased anywhere you buy ceramic supplies. It is applied like paint to bisqueware (a pot that has been fired already, but usually not to the final temperature). After the glaze is applied the pot must be re-fired.
