Great review as always. Seems like a good mic if very low cost and looks are higher on your list than good sound quality. On acoustic guitar it sounds more like a lousy condenser than a dynamics mic so the high end on it is indeed "impressive" at least in terms of quantity.
Definitely some sizzle on top but not obnoxious... I think the overall high end (high mids and treble) does outweigh the low mids and bass, making the overall sound relatively thin unless you go in for the proximity effect... But not bad for $37...
Agree on all points. Not bad for $37 at all. Functional. Not the worst sounding mic ever. I'm sure many people will buy it without researching it, and if it's set up properly they will get decent enough sound.

I don't know why my comments keep disappearing, so one last try: The fifine here costs triple the suggested price, while the Behringer and Mackie are more or less the same, so they are even better contenders this side of the pond.
Interesting. I know some others have loved this - price a big reason why - but I’ve found it unpleasant. But I don’t hate it on your voice. Totally listenable, though probably somewhere in the middle of the ones you put it up against today. Side note: I’ve greatly enjoyed your trek back through affordable offerings. I had less joy for being punched at the end.
Yeah. Not the best mic I've tried. $37 is pretty darn cheap and that makes it more acceptable for many. Would I pick this? Probably not, but others will buy it blindly, and if it's set up properly they can get decent sounds out of it and not have any issues. It's getting less and less acceptable to have garbage audio.
Yeah, thats definitley a Behringer killer for me. Sound's fantastic, comparable with the Elgato Wave (maybe better) for a fraction of the price. Other than the Mackie I thought it was the best sounding one.
Hi there, i recently found your channel and now i love your reviews, they are really complete, sound test, comparations with other mics, instruments, everything, love your content, and now i have a doubt I wanted to buy a mic and my budget is around 50-60 USD but i really don't know what mic buy, i saw your reviews of the solocast, the xm8500, the fifine 669, but i don't what option is the best, can you give me an opinion? It doesn't have to be one of those 3, it can be any microphone of that range
@Podcastage Hey Bandrew! While going back to this video to listen to your SM58 (as I do a lot...) I noticed the timestamps over there don't matchup quite right, so just letting you know in case you see this comment :)
Hey pal. I've been watching your videos for months, and love the content. Just wondering, as a man with a deep voice, would you recommend the Rode Procaster to me for spoken word? Are there any mics you would suggest instead?
I want to preface this by saying that it's going to come down to your personal preference because I have heard people with low voices sound great on pretty much every mic. I'd suggest checking Booth Junkies video on the Rode Procaster to determine if it's a sound you enjoy. I think it would be more than sufficient for that. I know people with deep voices also love the RE320 (very bright) or the RE20 (less boosted top end) . I have heard deep voices sound great on the SM7b, M160, and Ku5a as well, which are a bit darker. So there's no exact answer for you about other mics. The Procaster would likely be fine for that. Here's Mike's video demoing the Procaster: ua-cam.com/video/cHZPxrgvB34/v-deo.html
I love your reviews. After watching many reviews and looking at numerous microphones. I have it narrowed down to 3.. the FiFine K669D, FiFine Tank 3 and the Rode Pod Mic. Do you have any recommendations on these 3 ? Thanks.
For this price this microphone is really good! My biggest problem however is that it picks up way too many sounds from knocks from the table, and mix stand. Other mics like the sm58/57 are probably a lot more tolerant in that regard. I think this isn’t very practical considering it’s aimed at people getting started with podcasts or as a gaming mic where you’re gonna get a lot of keyboard sounds or knocks on the table. The mids also sound a little scooped
The sound is decent especially for the price, and yes, you get a lot of top end, and the proximity is there too so you get a slight V shape. I agree, there are mics that will do better regarding a lot of the draw backs that this mic has.
Great review as always. Thanks for what you do sir 🙏😇 Have you seen the Neve 88m USB preamp? Would love to hear what you think about is. I bought the SSL usb pre largely thanks to your review but looking to add to the preamp goodness… looking forward to the Podmic USB review too…. Again, thanks for all you do 🙏😇👍
I have seen the Neve 88m interface/preamp, but I can't justify the price of it in order to review it. I don't have that kind of budget anymore, so I don't see that happening in the foreseeable future. Thank you very much for the recommendation though.
Hi Bandrew, completely understand. I’m amazed you arent being offered more products at manufacturers cost to review (or maybe you are but refusing?). You are my first call for recommendations / reviews so totally ‘appreciate ya’ 🙏😇❤️
For $37 good job, to be picky it sounds way too boosted in the highs. I would personally take the XM8500 and eq it a bit but some people will want a microphone with the 'broadcast look' rather than a shock mounted handheld, purely for the visuals. Am expecting a Behringer BR7b before much longer.
This sounds better than it has any right to at that price. The off axis and noise rejections and the included stand were meh, but I shudder to think how many orphans were sacrificed to make it sound that well rounded for $37.
That's always the concern with gear that is so affordable, the labor practices that were utilized and the pay rate offered in order to accomplish that low price. Perhaps it's all automated, I don't know, but it always makes you wonder about that.
Sounded better in untreated room to me for once. I wouldn't buy this mic but if you could review that mixer they made and detail the pre amps.....0 review made on UA-cam not using the ifine mic with it. I'm in market for that mixer because it looks stunning and is cheap. Consider it please
I don't currently own one, haven't bought one, and don't have any immediate plans to review one of those for the time being. But thanks very much for the recommendation.
@@Podcastage I've put a Rode WS-2 on it. Fits perfectly and improves the K669d. Plosives are gone and high frequencies are just a little less boosted. Fifine should have included a foam pop filter instead of the metal stand. Cheers
EXACTLY! How exciting that we live in a time where pretty much anyone can get audio that is inoffensive to the overwhelming majority of people. There's no reason not to have good sounding audio, and there are fewer and fewer hurdles to creating that art that people feel the need to make. Amazing.
I'm not a native speaker and didn't quite understand what do you think is better maono pd 100 or fifine k669d? It seems to me that they are competitors in their segment. I'm not a professional and I'm choosing my first XLR microphone. It seems to me that fifine sounds more sonorous, and maono is more balanced. I'm confused and don't know what to choose. Thanks for the reviews!
I'm looking for a small, portable and affordable desktop mic mainly for Zoom meetings. I travel a lot, so the rig being compact and easy to deploy (without a boom etc) is important to me. I've gone through a ton of your reviews, it seemed to me this one didn't pick up too much typing noises when deployed on the desk, and seems to reject the sides and back quite well, so I was surprised that you thought the background noise rejectino didn't sound great! Would you recommend something else in my situation?
It's incredible that anything can be designed, manufactured, shipped around the globe, sold for only $37, and there's still profit to be made. I don't get it.
Yeah I don't know if it was meant to be a joke or not. Very possibly. I threw a few mentions of the number in there instead of only saying "six-six-nine-d"
Thank you very much for the heads up. I forgot the D on the url (I know that sounds like a joke, but really). Here's the link: HQ Audio Of Review: podcastage.com/rev/k669d
Hey man. I hope you're doing well. I have a quick question about gear maintenance over time. Unfortunately I haven't been the best when it comes to taking care of my gear, and i'd like to find something to remove minor scratches off my studio gear. Specifically an audient evo 8 and an at4040. Do you have any product suggestions or methods that you could recommend? Thank you bro. Love the channel.
I unfortunately do not know of anyone or anything that does this. To be honest I haven't ever looked into it before. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturers to see if they have any suggestions for products to cosmetically fix the scuffs. Sorry I can't be any help.
I realized that fifine likes to make their dynamic mics very bright sounding, as far as the ones I've heard at least. I'm guessing it's to balance out the low end and the higher frequency. But whatever their intentions are, it's for sure making the mics sound too bright and sibilant. Nonetheless, a lot of newbies wouldn't be able to tell a difference I guess.
Yeah. A lot of people won't notice or care about the differences in sound. This seems to be geared towards people just getting started and would likely be one of their first mics. And coming from a. laptop internal mic, this will sound crazy good to them, and rightfully so. It sounds a lot better than a laptop mic or a webcam mic.
@@Podcastage Pretty much the reason i got the Fifine K669B mic. My internal laptop mic was what i'd assume to be exceptionally atrocious. Sounded as if i was being muffled with a vaccuum cleaner infinitely working or something. I'm sure there's a vid somewhere but what are the general basics you'd recommend a beginner to look out for to difine if a mic's sound is of quality and at what point does it become user preference what quirks of a sound end up being present in a given mic? My purpose for a mic is to record voice over and attempts at singing.
woah, haven't seen your videos in a while. looks like you lost 20 pounds. Unfortunately for me, I think I found them. Anyway, you look good, hopefully everything is good health wise and it was a planned loss. Cheers! Love the guitar bits as usual. I picked up an acoustic guitar myself. Fighting against my fingers, growing calluses - basically nothing good so far :(((
Thanks so much Andy I really appreciate that. It's great to hear that you picked up the guitar and I wish you all the luck with getting those calluses back up and you have fun with the guitar! edit: the weight loss has been intentional and it's not an illness (as far as I know - knock on wood). I've just been working out every single day, and watching what I eat.
I like your videos and the way you do reviews and comparisons, the only criticism I can make of the tests is the interface you use, the Focusrite Scarlett has very poor quality preamps, a Steinberg is much better or the Focusrite Clarett, Tascam 102 also has better preamps than Focusrite's Scarlett series, that way the mic test would be better and the differences in the comparisons would be more noticeable.
I chose the Scarlett for a very specific reason, it's the best selling audio interface. That means that when I'm providing a comparison through that device, I am giving a demonstration that will be reflective of the sound the largest number of people will be getting. I also think there may be some overstating of how good or bad the preamps are. I'd recommend watching the first 3:45 of this video where I demo something related to this: ua-cam.com/video/MNeqQC9iyI4/v-deo.html
@@Podcastage I fully understand the reason for your choices, and I believe that the recording consists of the "target". If you are going to do podscat, a tremendous upgrade is not necessary as you describe it in a very good way in the link you sent about audio interfaces. What I'm saying is that a better preamp will subtly enhance the changes in the microphone pickup, I'll give you a very specific example, Scarlett vs Mbox pro 3 gen, if you notice the difference in the preamps and the price range is not very different despite being interfaces of very different generations, I still use the Mbox pro despite its age. But if we are talking about recordings of orchestral acoustic instruments in dedicated rooms, a good range configuration will necessarily be needed to capture all the subtleties generated by acoustic instruments and all the equipment is making its contribution to the final result, I agree with you that for Podscat and "home" recording, an Apogee or a UAudio is not necessary, if it is obtained it would possibly enter the realm of luxury and the improvement would be, as you say, subtle, audio is a tremendously speculative market and it is a bag on deaf ears that will never fill up.
For it's sound a price it is not a bad option... I thins the sibilance and the extra high end could be tamed by a foam windscreen. which would sort plosives also and then maybe a shock mount for stand arm rejection... should have included both of those things instead of everything else... like they have done with most of their other microphones. It's clear this was the one to have the sound that is working for them but without the USB interface, but failed to included the two important things that helped the other microphones they sell. For the price and a couple added parts, it then costs the same as the other ones but without a USB interface.... sooo. But personally do not like the USB interfaces, I brought a couple and they are not very stable. Wanted them so I could use both the XLR and the USB interface, XLR for the stream and the USB interface for calls, but found I was getting random audio drop outs when using the USB interface on both. Now I have a shock mount laying around that would fit this so might be worth it as i only need to find a foam windscreen to fit it and it might be quite fine.
Sorry to hear that usb audio interfaces were too unstable for you, but it's good to know that there was an option that provides the stability that you need. I agree that a foam windscreen and a shock mount would help this. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and the comment.
Pretty great mic; I think it's probably for the people that wanted something that's just good enough (like the XM8500) but that looks a lot more "podcasty/professional"... the high end is quite high tho for my ears as well... but overall Fifine seems to have some pretty great low priced products... I saw an RGB mixer from them which's like $50 and it seemed pretty crazy value as well 😁 Also Bandrew please don't punch the camera! They really don't like that #TechTip 😋
Mic manufacturers are no longer sending stickers so you don't have to sacrifice them😂😂😂 love your content.... also I got a podmic but it sounds waaaaay to nasal even with post processing
This mic seems to have a very narrow sweet spot. When you first began the review, my immediate reaction was "ew." It sounds very high-heavy and hollow. However, when you start doing the mic comparison, the distance to mic seems to be closed some and improves the tonal quality so it is more balanced. 3" off seems to be the ticket. But boy, don't deviate from 3"! Even then, it is a bit sibilant to my ears. And don't hate me, but is it just me, or did the sE DCM3 referenced in the comparison go AWOL?
Yeah the DCM3 hasn't been in many comparisons. I try to include comparisons to mics that seem to be direct competitors and are the most popular so that the most amount of people can understand the review mic's performance in context to something they know well.
It has a scooped response which is bound to get it some fans but is a little impractical. It also has a wide cardioid pattern which is rather rare and something I like a lot. Depending on where the owner lives, it would make a good earthquake detector between sessions. It does not suck, though, which makes me wonder “how are these things sold for $37?🤯” I can’t figure any way to launder money by selling microphones. It can’t be stuffed full of heroin because it resonates like a box. I just don’t get it.
That top end is just so dominant, but yes for $37, it doesn't suck. I"m guessing none of us want to know how they're made and sold for $37. They are making them in China and shipping them around the world, and selling them for only $37, and still making profit.

I don't understand what you mean, this audio is unprocessed so it has zero "settings" added to it. All that was done is amplification once the audio is on the computer, and that does not alter the tone of the recording. Sorry if I misunderstood your request.
If you have a suitable time or opportunity, would you review FIFINE K658? FIFINE 688 isn't sold here, there is K658, but I'm curious about its performance, although its looks aren't that serious.

I don't know how they did it, but I think at the price it still is. Can someone see if Uli Behringer's footprints are at the crossroads right next to Robert Johnson's?

At 3x the price that's a big NO in my book. That's more expensive than the sE Electronics V7 or the Sennheiser E835. So many good options around $100.
@@levelupwithmikenewman Spain, Europe, Planet Earth. LOL.
@@Podcastage That's my conclusion as well. Thanks!
It looks like a rip of an Earthworks Audio Icon in black 😲
I hadn't even considered that. I guess it does have a somewhat similar look to the Icon. No earthworks needs to release that mic in matte black.
Yeah, thats definitley a Behringer killer for me. Sound's fantastic, comparable with the Elgato Wave (maybe better) for a fraction of the price. Other than the Mackie I thought it was the best sounding one.
Hi there, i recently found your channel and now i love your reviews, they are really complete, sound test, comparations with other mics, instruments, everything, love your content, and now i have a doubt
I wanted to buy a mic and my budget is around 50-60 USD but i really don't know what mic buy, i saw your reviews of the solocast, the xm8500, the fifine 669, but i don't what option is the best, can you give me an opinion? It doesn't have to be one of those 3, it can be any microphone of that range
We need your opinion between this one and the Q2U... go!
Can you make a video or just tell us your top 3/5 budget USB microphones?
LOLOL Love it! Thank you!
Nice review! congrats
Whats the better Mic between PD100 and K669D? both are good but i cant decide
@Podcastage Hey Bandrew! While going back to this video to listen to your SM58 (as I do a lot...) I noticed the timestamps over there don't matchup quite right, so just letting you know in case you see this comment :)
Thanks for the heads up. Turns out all of them were messed up. They should be fixed now.
I was considering this (USB version) but in the end went for HyperX SoloCast
Hope you're liking the SoloCast.
@@Podcastage Thank you so much for the input. I'll definitely look into it more. Greatly

Notifications squad UNITE 💪🏼
This meeting is called to order, I welcome you all and thank you all. Meeting adjourned.
You could try using a shock mount
Great review as always. Thanks for what you do sir 🙏😇
Have you seen the Neve 88m USB preamp?
You are my first call for recommendations / reviews so totally ‘appreciate ya’ 🙏😇❤️
please make a review about Fifine AM8
For $37 good job, to be picky it sounds way too boosted in the highs. I would personally take the XM8500 and eq it a bit but some people will want a microphone with the 'broadcast look' rather than a shock mounted handheld, purely for the visuals. Am expecting a Behringer BR7b before much longer.
That's a very interesting point. Where is Behringer's broadcast dynamic mic? I'm surprised they didn't put one out 5 years ago.
So, is a incredible mic , mainly because i get it for 20 bucks in Facebook Marketplace
Are you talking about the ampligame ac3?
Nice shot box man.
Thanks!
Sounded good in an untreated room.
Yeah not terrible
For it's price it sound impressive but the highs are pretty aggressive. A foam pop filter might be a good addition.
Yeah that's a good idea that a big windscreen could help a lot.
@@Podcastage I've put a Rode WS-2 on it. Fits perfectly and improves the K669d. Plosives are gone and high frequencies are just a little less boosted. Fifine should have included a foam pop filter instead of the metal stand. Cheers
Jeez. At these price points youtubers really don't have any excuses for bad audio quality anymore.
EXACTLY! How exciting that we live in a time where pretty much anyone can get audio that is inoffensive to the overwhelming majority of people. There's no reason not to have good sounding audio, and there are fewer and fewer hurdles to creating that art that people feel the need to make. Amazing.
I was just thinking today "I wonder if Bandrew has got an opinion on this mic".
👽
GET OUT OF MY HEAD! THIS IS WHY I WEAR A TIN FOIL HAT MAN!
Plot twist: actually reviews the warm audio WA 251 next week instead but trying not to hold my breath 🥲
Please don't hold your breath and expect that next week. I don't want to be responsible for that. Thank you. haha.
For less than $50 that sounds really damn good.
For sub $50, yeah it's not bad.
🎤 For the price, great microphone and sound. But I'd rather write on Shure SM7b. 😃✌
Yeah for the price it's pretty decent performance. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and your future graffiti plans for you K669d.
Incredible
It's incredible that anything can be designed, manufactured, shipped around the globe, sold for only $37, and there's still profit to be made. I don't get it.
@@Podcastage i think it depends on how much effort they put into, ending up with selling it very cheap...
Haven't seen your videos in a while. Wow man you lost a lot of weight ! Congrats
Thank you very much. Also, welcome back. Thanks for checking out the video.
Hey is there a specific size for the xlr cable? The xlr that I previously had for my condenser mic is to big for the k669
It's just..... fi-fine.
Just a little fizzy, but, 37 bucks? Eh, not bad. I'd be tempted to put a foamie windscreen on it to smooth it out a little.
That could help quite a bit. Great idea.
I find the naming of this microphone rather suss. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but I see a lad's joke that made me smirk.
Yeah I don't know if it was meant to be a joke or not. Very possibly. I threw a few mentions of the number in there instead of only saying "six-six-nine-d"
In the description, your "HD" review link goes to the review of the USB FiFine microphone, not the K669d...
I like the sound
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm glad you were able to determine it's a sound you like. Have a great day and thanks for watching.
For the price it sounds FiFine 😁
BOO THIS MAN! BOO THIS MAN! Hahaha.
woah, haven't seen your videos in a while. looks like you lost 20 pounds.
I love music test
Thank you very much Jek, I appreciate that very much.
I saw an RGB mixer from them which's like $50 and it seemed pretty crazy value as well 😁
Also Bandrew please don't punch the camera! They really don't like that #TechTip 😋
Thank you for the tech tip on not punching the camera. I'll take this into consideration.
That mic makes S's sound twice as loud as the rest of the audio.
Smooth box throw though.
SSSSSSo, what you're SSSSSSSaying iSSSS, that I am a SSSSSSSSSSNAKE?
Mic manufacturers are no longer sending stickers so you don't have to sacrifice them😂😂😂 love your content.... also I got a podmic but it sounds waaaaay to nasal even with post processing
Yeah there's been a huge decrease in stickers in mics. Haha. I don't know if I had anything to do with that or not.
i have this mic and its really quiet. idk if its my interface or the mic itself (i use the focusrite scarlett solo 4th gen)
@@Podcastage I think the point was that the DCM3 is in the chapter marks but wasn't in the video.... :-) thanks for the great videos!!
Better for bradcast and vocals only.
What's your thought on k690 and k683 or else to suggest?
Give the performance of this mic, could you review the XLR/USB Fifine AM8 please?
I do not own it and haven't purchased it. Maybe some time down the road I will, but there are no immediate plans as of right now.
Am8 sounds decent. But it has a plastic body 😂
I game in a open untreated room. Would this be ok if I’m using SteelSeries sonar to lessen the background noise?
Bandrew have you ever done any "Please Bring Pizza Pronto" swag?
No sir I have not. I have been told I need to do that, and I have thoughts on the merch that I'd do, but I never got around to it.

wondering how it would sound plugged in zero settings
I don't understand what you mean, this audio is unprocessed so it has zero "settings" added to it.
All that was done is amplification once the audio is on the computer, and that does not alter the tone of the recording.
Sorry if I misunderstood your request.
If you have a suitable time or opportunity, would you review FIFINE K658? FIFINE 688 isn't sold here, there is K658, but I'm curious about its performance, although its looks aren't that serious.
