I had the great privilege to see this man at Caffe Lena in Saratoga recently. It was a hell of a long drive, usually seven hours round trip, made longer by some nasty thunderstorms on the Thruway both ways, but oh my gosh, this man is magic. By turns charming and funny or bittersweet and mournful... he played Dry County Dust and I had tears rolling down my cheeks. Don't miss him if he comes within a day's hatd ride.
I sent that song to my friend when her father-in-law finally died. She and her husband cared for him in his last illness, more for their future peace of mind than for the bastard. She said it was spot on.
Seeing Willi getting close to tears while singing is so moving.

Such a great recording. The Arrangements is gut shot of a song to someone who grew up with a self-destructive alcoholic parent.

I made the mistake of not seeing him when he came through my city early in the tour. This has to be one of my favorite sets available online.
Willi is a master songwriter. I know he checks comments on these, so hi Willi! One thing about Willi is that he only does 2 things with the bones
Mighty fine.
