  • This is a classic example demonstrating why we are playing on 3rd and 4th lines in a balanced manner and how to attack with diversion.
    For kyu players, you don't have to memorize the variations, simply grasping the concept of how to make balance in the beginning of the game could give you a great start in the game.
    For dan players, this is a video that you can understand the purpose and method of attacking by using diversion.

    Your lectures like this are my favorite. Also, your English is great so don't worry about that at all. You speak better than many native Americans :D Keep up the amazing content!

    Thanks, the two variations involving the sacrifice of the original invasion stone is so amazing!
    I am often afraid to play that peep on 3:51 because black might separate the two stones, now I know how to respond!

    A good word that often gets used in translating the Art of War quote is "to feint" (to pretend to attack somewhere) or the noun "a feint" (a pretend attack).

    Good video as always.
    "Make a sound in the east, then strike in the west" - isn't that from "The Thirty-Six Stratagems" sometimes attributed to Sun Tzu?
    BTW, after the iron pillar (tetchu), white has many options as you say. Sliding in at the 2-4 point one I like... if B attaches at the 3-4, then the 3-6 is an "amazing move" (if black cuts, white ignores it and plays a tiger's mouth). :))

    16:50 If you want to attack in the West, make noise in the East.

      Haha yes, I did not rehearse that, haha. Even for the word "diversion", I looked it up after making the video. ^^I am learning English while you guys are learning baduk:).

      @@BadukDoctor I'm glad I can help. I've learned so much from the last three "Must Know Concepts" videos. I like the way you show the variations. 감사합니다
      If I can make another suggestion: you say "At this time" when I think you mean "then" or "and then" (그때)

    At 5:47, what if Black stretches to second line instead of connecting? What should White do?

    • @remivannier9931
      @remivannier9931 3 роки тому

      I was wondering as well so I checked with Leela. Leela actually recommends your move instead of connecting. Then white slides to S16, b R16, w S15, b S17, and w blocks at S10. Now black takes sente. White is alive and black has a weakness at Q11. Result is slightly favorable for white. (but the position was already good for white before the invasion).

    9:10 after move 36 why would black not respond with P-13

    • @BadukDoctor
      @BadukDoctor  4 роки тому +3

      White can atari the three stones and make ladder to capture the two black stones in the centre ^^

    17:39 you sound like all the corner is black”s. Isn't it still a lot of aji there? Seems that a W invasion should live, shouldn't it? Thank you!

    • @BadukDoctor
      @BadukDoctor  4 роки тому +1

      You are right still there are many aji in black's territory. But white has to waist more moves in the future for takecaring of white weak group. And black will get more territory. So that trading is good enough for black.😊

    In almost every variations you showed, leelaz doesn't care and always make a sacrifice to get the corner playing 3-3 at some point :')

    • @BadukDoctor

      Haha, maybe I should put more stones and show this example during middle game instead of late beginning.
      I was thinking too many stones might be distracting ^^
