That first blue blouse is beautiful. I hope you make a pattern for it, because I would love to buy it.

Hi Florence, I'm bizarrely obsessed with the progress on your Winter Olympic 1992 sweater, and cannot wait to see how you wrangle those steeks and get the sleeves in. Your rate of progress is amazing! I hope it's done by the next episode too because I cannot wait to see what you end up doing. I think one of your superpowers is explaining the technical aspects of your option scenarios succinctly, whilst keeping it interesting - it's a real skill.

It’s not as hard as it looks!! I think all over colourwork just has so much impact - totally worth the effort

Quince & Co has a yarn called Piper that’s 50% merino and 50% mohair. It’s lace weight but wonderfully soft and fuzzy so not super sheer like a silk mohair. I think it would work well as a substitute for the cardiff brush light. Probably easiest to get in the US but I think of it every time you talk about the gathered top, so I’m sharing. The top is beautiful, by the way. I would definitely knit it if you decided to publish a pattern! Lovely.

Yeah the colourwork project is amazing. That's a lot of knitting when you're just working it out as you go. I have faith that you'll produce something gorgeous.
I really enjoy you sharing your thoughts. Thanks.

hi florence! i’ve knit a top with a similar gathered look and what i did was a wet block where i lightly stretched out the fabric to smooth the stitches, then regathered the fabric by hand to let it dry. also, just to plant an idea, i would LOVE to see an option to make your top into a mini dress! if i am lucky enough to test knit it one day i may try it out 😉

Hi Florence! Your light blue top (won’t call it peplum 😄) is gorgeous! Steam blocking is probably the best way to block without flattening out the gathers. I steam block all the time and it works brilliantly. Also, because the nozzle of a steamer is quite small, you can easily try it on a small section and see how it goes. You’re not really committing to blocking the full garment. I’ve got the Tefal Pure Pop handheld steamer and I’d definitely recommend it. It works great and takes very little storage space. I hope this helps. As always, I’m really enjoying your podcasts (and I’m kind of wanting to knit a Norwegian colourwork jumper now 😂)

Excited to see how your lovely Nordic sweater turns out. Enjoyed the explanation and how you work the pattern and design details. Beautiful work and fascinating learning experience for us all. The crochet detail on the sleeve would be an interesting touch - do the sleeves the same; or, look at it all as a learning curve/experience and do the sleeves the way you want them - you might do three or four or as many as you want (it’s your sweater!). Thank you and see you soon on how it all went. It is stunning and has gorgeous colors. Thank you!

    Florence,
First time here and I'm in awe of your work! 💖
I will echo many here by saying that green cashmere "princess" blouse is lovely and I, also, am putting it 'out there' for you to create a pattern for it! 🙏😇🙌✨💫💖😺
Thank you for sharing your 1992 sweater, it's a labor of love for sure, and will be a total gem when it's finished!
Your ''72 rows per 4cm" sweater is sooo, fluffy! 😹 That will be for special occassions, I guess. 💖
Re: your lace socks, couldn't you flip the chart to knit the lace pattern in the original direction__never tried it but seems it would work, as long as the stitch count was the same throughout the length of the front of the sock(?). 😛
Well, off to check your Ravelry page! 😺
Thank you for sharing your 'adventures in knitting'!
    🙏😇✨💫🌱🌿🌻🐝🌳🌎💖🙌😺

Hi Florence, I own that same sock yarn in the same colour, and the colourway is 005! The label only has a number and not a name for it, but it's also being sold under the name Linen 😊
Loved the podcast episode as always - that long-in-the-making blouse is very stunning!

I absolutely love the ski sweater. It is gorgeous. Such beautiful colors. I use a method called the traveling loop instead of magic loop when I can. You dont have to turn the work and the needles as often. When the circumference gets too small, then I use the magic loop. I like the idea of a crochet seam. Would give it a cool look. Love everything you make. The socks are beautiful. I do mine 2 at a time, so they come out the same. I haven't knitted very many yet. I plan to in the future. There are so many plans. I want to knit your Fennel Seed Jacket next. Thanks for all your inspiration.

I like the crochet chain idea for the sleeve seam! I was also thinking maybe add a section of plain blue to the top of the sleeve which can be cut diagonally without cutting the pattern.

I spoke to my dad about it (who doesn’t knit but has a lot of good ideas) and he suggested something similar - adding short rows between the first and second bands of colourwork! So the first band is still at the top, and the blue wedge goes right below that and before the large colourwork section

I really hope you release the blouse pattern because I would make it so fast! I always love your patterns, you have such good taste! Also, fyberspates makes an alpaca silk yarn. I’ve never used it before but it has some nice colors, so maybe that would work?

Thank you for this lovely episode, Florence! It's so cool to hear about your progress with the Ski Sweater. It looks like a project you're learning a lot with and it's just super pretty and impressive looking!
I never thought I'd say I like a peplum top in 2024, but I love your blouse;) I'm pretty sure Kremke Soul Wool has some Suri Alpaca in a thicker yarn weight. I'm knitting with their lace version and it's so soft!
I had to order the baby pink Regia sock yarn when I saw it on your Instagram because these are exactly my colours! It's a pain to get (at least in Germany) but I hope it will arrive soon.

For the blue blouse, I'd consider Cirro by the Fibre Co! I believe it's an alpaca. I've knit a few garments in it and it does seem as though it would yield a similar fabric.

Absolutely nothing to worry about the steeking process! ✨ Using a sewing machine for the reinforcement (combined with the natural yarn that you're knitting with) is the perfect pairing to prevent stitches unraveling.
I've got a video on my channel that shows the step-by-step process of steeking a Norwegian sweater exactly how you're planning to steek yours - it may be helpful as a quick reference ☺️
P.S. For the sleeve you'll need about 1-2cm of reverse stockinette at the top which serves as a buffer for when the sleeve is joined to the armhole - you may want to pick up stitches at the top so you dont interrupt the beautiful band of colourwork 💞

For your blue blouse, could you create a mini sample of just a couple of pleats and block that to see how it goes?
I've made a lot of things with puff sleeves and gathering and haven't had any problems blocking, I try to place on the board and don't pin it. I usually join mohair/suri by putting the strands similar to magic join then knitting using front/back strand alternatively.

Love your podcast, very informative and I enjoy lots of the patterns you make. For your ski sweater sleeves, as a fellow English style knitter I would use a 12 or 16” cable to knit colourwork rather than Magic Loop: magic Loop is a pain to manage with floats and I never got into DPN’s .
As for the shape of the sleeve, I think as you said you’ll just have to try, I think flipping them not a great option, having BOR and decreases so visible…well it would bother me. Next Norwegian ski jumper maybe narrower sleeves with little or no decreases?? You’ll know more after making this one. Good luck
