There weren't that many Japanese Metal bands around in the 80s very hit and miss. They were still listening to SKA and still do today. Loudness were probably the biggest of them all. I think Japan's Metal scene has progressed since the late 90s only thanks to Western Artists that have toured their. And venue's do fill up.
There were some - 44 Magnum, Earthshaker, Tsunami and the best being Vow Wow (though more hard rock).
