Bradley Cooper's performance was one of the best I have watched this year.
He deserves to be nominated for Best Actor for that final scene alone.
I agree completely. He was really great in the movie.
Totally agree!
AGREED
I second that emotion
Every time I think about the final shot I get genuine chills. So good.
Guillermo Del Toro is one of the coolest people on the planet. Change my mind.
I agree, 100%.
He signed the roman polanski petition
@@mats6022 he loves monsters.
Bradley Cooper is pretty cool as well.
Said everyone….
This felt like two directors giving a talk on filmmaking for free.
This is exactly how I feel and I want more! I'd pay to see more.
Bradley directed A Star Is Born so it is exactly that!
That's because that's what this is lol..
Yep, Bradley is now a director too, and Guillermo knew that when they partnered up for this film & Guillermo said it helped their collaboration a lot that Bradley now has experience as a director
His sets are absolutely amazing. Practical is still the best can’t beat real interaction when actors are acting. This is a underrated director/writer love to meet this man
underrated by who?
@@lorenzomineo9943 I also think he is underrated in the sense that he is a true genious.
@@ramjua9462 - Yes, but he's recognized as such. I don't think he's underrated if everybody loves him
@@masterofallgoons I think he is very respected, but still not fully appreciated. I think most people see him at the level of Iñárritu when the genius distance between the two is big.
One iconography that impressed me was when Bradley Cooper was in the train and they flipped the camera upside down to mirror the Tarrot card reading. That was 🤌🏾
I didn’t pick up on that thanks for pointing it out!
🤯
Shame this movie got overshadowed by Spider-Man. I really liked it!
It's very sad that real cinema is overshadowed by McDonald's films.
@@delrey874 I bet you haven't even watched the movie. Its not like its just dumb goof. There are real consequences, real stakes, and the main character has a compelling arc. Fun movies don't automatically make them not "cinema" If thats the case, I guess Ghostbusters 1984 is just a McDonalds movie
Spiderman sucks
@@fubytv731 ok
@Kartikey Gupta ok douche 😅
Watching these two is like seeing a Teacher & his Star A+ student 😂
We're actually being shown what Stan's fate is going to be like the minute he steps into the funhouse. Brilliant. Love GDT.
whoever was in charge of marketing this movie must be fired. I had no idea this was a thing. It looks great though
yeah wtf,
The marketing sucked! The movie was great! Seek it out!
Lol I thought it was a 40s detective movie till I watched it.
This better wins the Oscar for best production design.
Dune: I don’t think so
@@elquesiempreusas649 boring movie
@@elquesiempreusas649 The French Dispatch: I really don't think so
@@elquesiempreusas649 dune was trash dude. If you remove the fandom and creamy pants nerd lore and watch it as a movie it's not the best
@@zyourzgrandzmaz It was decently good, but I agree with the rest. VERY overrated.
Guillermo’s creativity overwhelms me, wish I had a tenth of it. He has this passion and drive to materialize everything as he sees it in his imagination it’s so humbling. Love him as a creative mind and as a human being. I can hear him talk for hours on end.
I love watching people who are passionate about something and get to do it the way they want to
I love love love them. Cant say that enough! Guillermo actually creates worlds rather than films. He creates atmosphere, aesthetics and art. I am touched by his attention to detail and his total dedication to the 40s vibe. How he promises himself to a project... how he loves what he does... how he leads others into the world he has created. I adoreeee him!!!
Most underrated movie of 2021
This has definitely been Bradley Coopers best acting performance and it’s also probably Del Toros best film
Guillermo is a fantastic creative! Underrated, in a sense.
uh huhh.... totally underrated...... i mean hes only like a billionaire and has been making movies for 20+ years and everyone knows at least a few of his movies.. as well as has a gigantic deal with netflix for endless animated series...... but yeah, maybe he will make it one day......
@@zyourzgrandzmaz Don't be obtuse, I clearly said "in a sense" - because, despite his long running career and all his accomplishments and accolades, he really isn't a househould name (which he should be by now).
@@_all_around_us yes he is
Sure bro, winner for best picture in 2018, totally underrated
@@_all_around_us Yes, he's a household name.
I need to watch this. Both Guillermo and Cooper are amazingly talented.
Don't miss the original, too! It's amazing!

Bradley Cooper is a total student of the game. I can see him becoming a director later on in his career.
He has already directed before.
His Leonard Bernstein biopic will be legendary
He directed a star is born 😂
He should have been nominated for Best director. Can't believe he got snubbed

This was an amazing movie and you could really feel all the craft that went into it the whole way through. Very sad it didn't perform well at the box office.
It was so good! More people need to see it. I love seeing the characters journey.
@@artietheonemanparty agreed!
The box office no longer means anything. It is only McDonald's films that make money today. Only those with taste will continue to love real cinema.
@@delrey874 box office does affect what gets made. I feel like if nobody shows up for Nightmare Alley, studios take it as a sign to not make more of it. Critical Acclaim is important, but earning money is important too if we want to see more of it.
@@artietheonemanparty Yes, indeed. It's so sad that these films don't make money, it's so cruel that films by great directors like del Toro, Spielberg, PTA, Ridley Scott, Wes Anderson, Edgar Wright, Eastwood, etc. don't do well at the box office. When the studios stop giving them budgets, then cinema will really die. But the great news is that as streaming services make movies like Scorsese's, Jane Campion's and Adam McKay's, they are giving money to art houses and original films that may or may not be a hit. Maybe Netflix and Apple are the future of cinema, I don't know what the future of theatre will be, but at least they are giving a chance to films that other big studios are no longer making.
Still Pan labyrinth among the best for me personally.. Guillermo and Tarantino movies always feed us with weird surprised storyline..
I went in expecting something else than what I saw. I loved this movie and that ending was phenomenal. Bradley Cooper definitely needs some Oscar recognition for this role. The world built was perfect and his character fits so well into it.
Can you explain the ending?
@@jb2166what part didn't you understand?
They better cast Bradley Cooper as young Indiana Jones. I mean look at him
Dude, he’s perfect for the role
@@CTM418 Young compared to the 79 year old Harrison Ford
I LOVED this movie!!!
It’s being overlooked like crazy over stuff like Power of the Dog or Dune.
I think it’s gonna be a classic in 10 years.
probably
Bradley is an amazing actor and director
Guillermo del Toro doesn’t miss!!! He knows what story he wants to tell and he will do everything in his power to tell it!
The "Geek" is played by Paul Anderson, who is best known for playing "Arthur Shelby" in the "Peaky Blinders" tv-series.
I didn´t recognized him in the movie.
One of the greatest recent/neo-noir films I’ve seen, & this scene breakdown solidifies that for me. Very interesting.
Two masters of their craft. Saw it in theatres. One of the best movies I saw last year. Great style and performances.
Man Bradley cooper has range. He’s so talented in this film.
Finally saw it last night and Bradley Cooper is terrific in it
Who doesn't LOVE Guillermo?!?! You can tell he's not cynical, he still gets excited and loves what he does! And his personality is infectious 💖💘💞💓I just want to hug him and then thank him !!!!
I'm so glad I got to see this movie in theaters, definitely one of my favorites in years and Bradley Cooper delivers a superb performance
Great chemistry between them
He did a great job. The last scene.. just wow
Absolutely loved this movie. I immediately wanted to see it again. I'm catching so many things I missed the first time around
Ugh, I love commentary like this. I need this for the whole film please. Geniuses!
I wish Guillermo did the Hobbit movies. I would have loved to have seen his vision
Just imagine if they released guillermo del toro's cut of the movie (the toro cut).
I would love that a lot 😍:)
You don't hit a Peaky Fookin' Blinders and just expect to walk away like this, just wait until Tommy finds out! 😂 Btw, the cast for this movie is off the charts, so many good people in it.
Production design and directing was outstanding! All the actors were great too
You can tel the immense respect they have for each other as fellow creators.
Couldn't wait to see this. It DEFINITELY didn't disappoint.
Absolutely loved this movie! Bradley Cooper and Cate Blanchett's characters were captivating in their scenes!
It's obvious these two built a strong friendship. It's awesome
For the final 5 minutes of the film I was smiling ear to ear. So good.
Very underrated movie, amazed by the ending - stayed with me for days after.
love the Guillermo's back slap, seems hurt 15:43
Watched the movie right now. I can't express how much I admire such creatives people like Guillermo, your genius overwhelms me everytime. Thank you so much for how well you all tell stories.
I this combo! I could listen to a weekly show about the Behind The Scenes of Hollywood with these two.
Guillermo really is great.
I do love this movie !!! at the end I had goosebumps all over
After watching this whole movie through, this scene is particularly eerie.
The ending performance of Bradley was powerful
One of my all time favorite films! Tyrone Power and Joan Blondell at their best - and one of the most atmospheric films I've ever seen (as good as Eyes Wide Shut.) Looks like it's remaining old school - can't wait to see it!!
Every time I see guillermo in a interview I wanna give him a hug and I don't know why
The final 5 minutes of the movie, Bradley absolutely topped his performance.
What we really liked about the movie that at the excact point we wondered how long the movie would take, the ball started rolling so to speak... . A must watch !
I met him at a Q and A back in the day at an AMC Theater for "Cronos" while at the low budget spread before the screening. He was ultra cool and super friendly.
We need to appreciate creative people like Guillermo more. Especially in today's wold that is dominated by franchise movies and remakes.
This is a superb remake! 🤩
Just watched this on HBOMax, super great film!! Love the insight provided here
Two talented geniuses
Well, I think Guillermo del Toro is a cinematic genius, but I was not aware that Bradley Cooper was such a brilliant actor. This film still resonates with me and it is one of my favourite films of all time. I watched it with a friend, knowing nothing about it. We each thought it was a visual feast and a marvellous, dark moral tale. Bravo to a great great director and a wonderful actor.
I hope this movie wins a few awards. Watched it yesterday, still mesmerized by it....
Thank you ! Hearing the director talking about his film is so interesting ! I wish I could find this kind of content as a bonus when i buy a movie but thats more about actor's feelings and anecdotes rather than describing a scene or explaining the movie.
Happy yesterbirthday to Coops!
It’s obvious how much respect these two developed for each other as filmmakers on this shoot.
Bradley Cooper for Indiana Jones
That's a very good idea, but I hear the next Indiana Jones is going to be Phoebe Waller-Bridge lol.
@@delrey874 she’s just gonna be IN the movie… its still Harrison Ford and he said the role will die with him
A wonderful movie. So beautifully, artfully visual. The psychoanalyst's office , for instance, is beyond attractive. Go see it. A masterpiece. Go on. Compare to the Tyrone Power film. Then comment.
I think this movie was better than The shape of water. It’s so beautiful and yet so Brutal
This movie is genius.
Bradley was so amazing in this movie! He should've been nominated! Let alone for that last scene! He's brilliant!
Bradley is the most gorgeous actor there is!
WTF THAT WAS ARTHUR SHELBY AS THE FIRST GEEK !?!
I guess he just wanted to hang with the all star cast.
I love this movie. I first discovered it about a month ago & I lost track of how many times I’ve watched it. A true gem👌🏻
Bradley Cooper deserves an Oscar he was so good in nightmare alley
Love that they had Derren Brown help with this film! Can’t wait to see this!
This COULD have been a masterpiece. But here's where it went wrong. Toro made the mistake that too many modern directors make -- he fell in love with every frame he shot. So he spent so much time on developing every scene that it too often dragged -- meanwhile, he lost the focus of the story. The love relationship was sudden and undeveloped. The arrangement with the shrink was vague. And his dissent into alcoholism was too abrupt. (The last 10 minutes of the film). Yet the movie was THREE HOURS LONG!!! It literally could have been cut in half. I would have loved to do a rewrite and an edit. It would have been so much better because it's a great story with great performances and the look was magnificent. It just got too caught up in its own cleverness and wound up missing the point of the plot.
I never even knew about this movie, I just stumbled upon it on HBOmax, movie was amazing
Loved this movie 🎥 I plan to watch it again too…Buffalo NY
Stan's Labyrinth
It’s such an amazing movie, shame is not getting the attention it deserves
bradley cooper needs to give del Toro some room to speak
*_GdT was talking about he "was finishing Nightmare Alley for Netflix", this was after the movie had had it's premiere?_*
_What was he talking about? Was GdT overseeing an edit of a longer version for Netflix?_
_Is there a planned release date for Nightmare Alley on Netflix?_
Bradley gave me Indiana Jones vibes in the first act & Cate Blanchett reminded me has the essence of all those femme fatale of 40s noir detective flicks. This movie is gorgeous
Guillermo got that Yuji Itadori fit
The 1947 original with Tyrone Power is one of my top loves in movies.
It rendered well one of the most underrated novels in literature of all time. I loved Gresham's novel to the point of enduring a night in the disastrous hotel where he wrote it and where he later committed suicide.
I love every detail the movie has to offer it's amazing, never did i invested so much in a movie.
I could watch them dissect the entire movie and be completely enthralled.
Love the Gollum moment of the geek. His Hobbit would be amazing...
wish that they could explain every scene of the movie this way, it gives it a different feeling
“Come on in, see who you are, see who you will be.” This film is brilliant. Sure to be a cult classic! 💯
So proud of Guillermo, he never dissapoints.
With every movie that Guillermo Del Toro makes, I get more and more disappointed that we’ll likely never see his adaptation of “At The Mountains of Madness”. One can only imagine how incredible it would be….
I love this movie so much. The visuals are insane!!!!!!!
Bradley would’ve been perfect for New Indiana Jones
Gracias por su trabajo saludos cordiales desde cd Nezahualcóyotl México 🇲🇽 🙂 🇲🇽 🙂 🇲🇽
I love this and I love them and I love how excited Bradley is about the whole process but I noticed he kind of interrupts Guillermo a lot
love the way he describes : being swallowed by the devil, entering purgatory, and you see the skeletons in the background with the geek
wish they did a full movie breakdown
