This is GOLD, brother. This is exactly what we need more of - quick, concise, and helpful. I think a series like this could go a long way toward helping to flatten the learning curve and helping fresh faces stick around. I'm assuming that since it's numbered, there's more in "the tubes?"
I'm by no means a new player- I'm Battle Rank 52 for crying out loud! That doesn't mean I'm not terrible, though. I always learn something useful from your videos. Thank you for your help and for your contribution to the community. Keep it up, Wrel!
Tip: Sticky grenades are about 5x more immediately useful than normal grenades. If you need to clear out a room, don't spam C4, spam stickies. Just one engineer with grenade bandoleer can turn the tide of a battle really fast.
Old but still useful tip: Look Up. Above your head could be a Light Assault or four raining down bullets on your little melon of a head, or hovering over your entire squad dropping a brick or two of C4 to kill every last one of you, including himself. Galaxies, Valkyries, and Spawn Beacons can also drop other non-MAX classes on rooftops they normally cannot reach.
Another good tip for MAX suits, sort of an expansion on what Wrel said. You can protect engineers by body blocking enemy fire, they'll be repairing you so most small arms fire will be quickly repaired back. This is especially true for NC MAX units running with an Aegis Shield.
tips I can think of off the top of my head is that when in vehicles, the page down key brings up the vehicle menu option. you can also auto run with the = button and change the zoom on your minimap with the [ and ] buttons. when overloading a gen, you dont have to stare directly at it and can actually do other stuff as well (i.e. walk around in in case an enemy comes, but dont go too far away from the gen you're overloading). you can also turn off the laser sight and darklight of your weapons by pressing the x button, and in the case of the lazer sight, you will still retain the smaller hipfire cof, and while the darklight will no longer reveal infils, it is useful at night to not reveal your location when necessary). If you are in a public squad, you can invite a friend to the squad by typing /squad invite playername and this will work even if the squad is set to private, though the invite has to go through the squad leader then. I would also consider mentioning that you can pretend to use med sticks as c4 to scare people in turrets and directional armour in vehicles isn't actually based off of where the projectile lands, but where the person who fired the projectile is in comparison to the direction the tank is facing (ie even if you pull of a really tight angle on the rear armour it still actually only counts a side armour damage), but im not really sure they can be considered quick tips for newer players :)
That MAX was hilarious! Great tips BTW. Would love to see more of these short, helpful videos. It's often the small stupid stuff that makes the biggest difference in success at this game. I would recommend going over: ducking behind cover after starting a revive, resupplying at terminals for shields and MAX loadout changes, placing c4 on points and generators, DI for launch pads (so nice when you're a LA), blowing up stray enemy vehicle mines as infantry, and reload canceling. Also, can you still jump, pop a med kit, and continue running? I can't seem to do it.
Tip: don't think to be an heavy assault when you're playing medic or engineer. Stick to your class and do what you're supposed to do (heal epair\give ammo) so that your faction-mates can perform better on the battlefield.
Alessandro CafisoYes, too many people play medics and don't actually perform medic duties. If you're a medic or engineer, pull out your heal/repair tool and deploy ammo packs every so often to help keep up your team's momentum.
Lojaf the Lucky but but but muh assault rifle! I actually love it when medics do fuck all and just try to be assaults. More dead\injured = more work for me = more points for me :)
Alessandro Cafiso Too damn right. Gods forbid people use a support class to, you know, support their team. The ARs are pretty good for combat, but generally they should be used a) for self-defence, b) for covering teammates or c) if one has literally nothing else to do (_ie_, heal/revive/covering fire). In that order. But try telling that to a KDR-obsessed CoD-kiddie.
+Breadfish You do realize that there's a reason they're called COMBAT Medics. I agree that medics shouldn't only be focused on attacking, as that just makes the battle that much harder, but the assault rifles are some of the best weapons in the game, and should be utilized.
Another Tip for Maxes: If you need repairs, don't run about like a headless chicken and scream for an engineer :P If you sit in cover ,within 5 seconds, an engineer will come to fix you up :D
One thing I need to use more often is most extremely thin ledges can be run across (about a Shield Regenerator or Spawn Beacon wide). This can be extremely useful at towers, where running along the outside ledge behind the walls can shield you from enemy sight and therefore fire.
I have been playing this game for about a year now. And I didnt know that you could redeploy while loading. Thanks for pointing that out. Its going to help a lot in squad leading and platoon leading
Tip: Placing tank mines at crossroads is advisable since it covers all routes passing through them. It's also incredibly satisfying when you catch someone.
josh slatter Detailed explanation: To initiate the heal/repair/revive you need to have line of sight, but you can then move behind a wall and the beam will not be interrupted and go straight through. Very useful when there is a fallen friendly outside of a shielded/sieged room since you can peak out just long enough to get your beam on them and they quickly move back into cover and complete the action through the wall/object.
I'm so satisfied that you killed "winsston" @ 0:52. That dude's such a damned traitor. He USED to be on my friends list when he played on the TR. Had to delete him.
I wish I could use instant action, half the time the damn thing tells it's going to put me in a nice, big fight, I get set up, and then it drops me on another continent at a base with 4 players, tops.
Sfn R. www.reddit.com/r/Planetside/comments/37vmoi/gamebreaking_bugs_that_are_now_at_least_4_months/ Happened to me a few times, but now I know better than using instant action.
This and Star Citizen... What a great 2015-2016 I'm going to have. Although I played PS2 in its early days I never really continued afterwards but now I have my gaming rig I'm definitely getting back at it ;)
How often do you guys find yourself as leader of a platoon? If you do, what do you guys focus on? I know there are many kinds of command styles and I rly want to figure out what kind of leader I could be (or a leader at all, despite the fact that sometimes I am better at killing than leading). I know in some cases secondary objectives are mandatory, but can be avoided (like in a amp station), and do you prefer to suppress the enemy forces or just heading straight for the cap point?
Saz Fiury It definitely can. I prefer it to the death-drop into the main hole though. Easy to bounce grenades up the stairs and back the defenders off a bit, since they're choked in there too.
Wow, thanks for the reply! Yep, as a person that often run Bandolier with AV nades, can confirm that tactic sounds super fun. Its when attackers and defenders are on the stairs on either end, that things get really messy i guess But i don't really have much experience breaking sieges on that base as my outfit avoids it when its populated, for the same reasons you'd take down the SCU in a biolab before taking points - get the point without the meat grind. Will definitely try what you recommended next time i find a fight there though!!
Amongst certain players (or certainly on Miller) that base is known as "subterranean grenade analysis". That made me chuckle the first time I heard it.
when hacking terminals you dont have to lock your sights on it. As soon as you start it, holding down your action button (E for me) you can look around and still shoot. This applies to overloading generators as well.
Keep looking at the minimap, scan it like your life depends on it. You can make a plan to kill enemies spotted or darted. Use the map to plan your route and consider lanes of fire.
Hi Wrel as a new player I thank you for your passion to make those planetside 2 videos. I enjoy ps2 really much at the time and I'm working at one of your loudouts. Sadly as a new player maxing wrong stats costs a lot of time. A refund system for paying a certain cert value would be great for beginners like myself, as you have mentioned it already in one of your videos, I think. Anyway have a nice day and keep it up! I would guess the max at the very beginning of the video was a brand new player who hopped on for his first time. Probably chose the most awsome looking class and then wandered not knowing what he was doing. I remember the first time I played. I pretty much did the same thing not knowing what the heck I was supposed to do.
Should I get that Nanite systems smg? I want it for my light assault. I play it by flying round on roofs n stuff and shooting at med-close range. I have the jaguar right now.
Jack Howard If you're talking about the NS-7 PDW, then... it depends. It doesn't cover quite the same niche as regular SMGs; the slightly better accuracy/falloff damage and slower ROF means you need a bit of extra distance to be optimal- think of it sort of like an SMG/carbine hybrid. Unfortunately, it looks like DBG discontinued the Fresh Meat pack, which had it (as well as a camo and a boost) available for two bucks, or I'd recommend it wholeheartedly. I don't think I'd really recommend it, or any SMG, for LAs, though. The carbines they have access to are generally better at the roles that class plays.
Wren, I have seen many of your videos and know a lot about PS2 even though I don't have many hours in game. I recently built a gaming computer *Yay!* and have started playing. I really want to play with a well-organized outfit. Any Ideas? How can I find a serious, preferably large that would be accepting of a player that knows what he is doing but is not very good yet due to lack of practice. Awesome Video please do more!

Hey you did read my other comment! Thanks Wrel. The video did help me a little bit but I still don't understand what the objective I am trying to reach is.. All I know is that some bases have 1 or more "whatchamacallit" control things. but how do we take down the shields that don't allow vehicles in
Bryan Nguyen those shields have a generator inside the facility that any non max infantry class can go up to, hold e (or whatever you rebound it to) for a few seconds and a count down starts. if no one can "fix" the generator in this time the shield goes down. if someone does fix it then the generator is instantly back to full and the countdown will have to start again.
So tell me... why does no one push up when we are attacking a base. Seriously, about every single person hangs back on a hill shooting at enemies and missing about a few miles away..
most random people who play the game care more about getting more certs then actually winning. I do this too, ill hack the generator, let you unhack, then rehack it just so I can get free certs. it also diverts people away from the front so I AM helping.
dear wrel im new to planetside and t would help if there was a video better explaining 1) upgrades 2) the vechile system, how you get them , where you get them 3) the squad and platoon system
0Letten0 Pretty much. I mean it's nebulous and people will always say "Each faction has strengths and weaknesses." Which is partly true but it has always seemed to me that TR is the last amongst equals. And because of the group I game with I play TR almost exclusively. Before I get jumped on I've got NC and VS characters, so I know that not all TR weapons are terrible compared to other factions it just seems on average that TR weapons aren't as good. Though personal skill can make up for it in some cases.
OPINION ALERT! 0Letten0 HA, TR used to be the dev favourite! But in terms of player base most new players go for TR so they are more zergy with less skill.

should of said " when playing a as a enigneer, dont for get your a engineer" XD there has been to many times when im in my MAX suit in red and ill be baging over the mic and requesting for the engine right next to me to heal me and dont run in to that door way filled with baddies lol......they normaly run in to the door way :(
Wrel, why do you like to play as a female? Please don't get me wrong, i am not judging you for anything or saying that playing as the other gender is bad or something (i myself play as a female sometimes). I would just like to hear if you have any reason for it or if it's just "becuase, that's why" Also please random ppl don't respond to me with things like "because woman ass" i just want to know if he has some reason for it or not.
i hate subnanite terranian anoleusus... not only its name but its entire base layout and the terrible performance i usually get. thats why i refuse to fight there.

This video has been interesting, helpful and entertaining. So I gave it a like shared it and told my friends about the channel.
Another Tip for Maxes: If you need repairs, don't run about like a headless chicken and scream for an engineer :P If you sit in cover ,within 5 seconds, an engineer will come to fix you up :D
***** Usually they dont since they are too busy to shoot mana turrets.
My Tip for Maxes: If you are not with a squad that repairs you, use autorepair -.-
(I did it and it helps a lot :/)
Alfred DerWeise Auto repair isnt good until u max it. But if doesnt matter which level it is if u are doing AA or anything where u are dmg sponge
Paavo Pesusieni using auto repair changes the way i play max, u just need to be more aware of your surroundings :)
Alfred DerWeise Auto repair if u dont need to worry about explosions. Flak if u need to worry. Not so hard after all kid
One thing I need to use more often is most extremely thin ledges can be run across (about a Shield Regenerator or Spawn Beacon wide). This can be extremely useful at towers, where running along the outside ledge behind the walls can shield you from enemy sight and therefore fire.

Hell, I'd give a like just for that quote at the end.
Good stuff as always, Wrel.
Tip: Placing tank mines at crossroads is advisable since it covers all routes passing through them. It's also incredibly satisfying when you catch someone.
That's strange. Don't think this video actually got sent out to sub boxes the way it was supposed to: #planetside2
I would love to re label the 'instant action' button as 'Instant Death' ;)
I think you're right. I only saw this because I checked your channel.
Wrel where was that Max going without ever knowing the way?
Wrel No notification here either. I just happened to check your channel.
i love your professionalism
Another useful tip would be the ability to heal/repair through walls.
josh slatter
Detailed explanation:
To initiate the heal/repair/revive you need to have line of sight, but you can then move behind a wall and the beam will not be interrupted and go straight through. TheUnchainedMind I never knew you could do that thx
That Big Lebowski reference though lol 0:30
Wrel Hey, what's that radial thing you have that comes up at about 0:45 or so? It looks like it'd be useful.
Holding the "Q" key while looking at an ally will bring up the command rose.
Ah, thanks man.
I'm so satisfied that you killed "winsston" @ 0:52. That dude's such a damned traitor. He USED to be on my friends list when he played on the TR. Had to delete him.
You can start Redeploy from a load screen as well, makes base hopping much faster.
Seriously, as a pedestrian look both ways before crossing a road, and as a vehicle driver, slow down in designated crossing zones
Battlefield Canadian they should put crossing signs in the game or give squad leads stop signs they can pull out
I wish I could use instant action, half the time the damn thing tells it's going to put me in a nice, big fight, I get set up, and then it drops me on another continent at a base with 4 players, tops.
WrathOfMega Totally drops you in another continent, because that's absolutely a thing that can happen in this game.
WrathOfMega Auraxian Roulette

Marten V Even now with continent locking?
You can also hold jump key from a accelerator and it will double your speed in the direction of the thrust.

As well as repair, you can hack terminals through walls, which is especially helpful at tech plants.
That back way into Subterranean gets pretty nasty pretty quick if the defenders know you're pushing it. Zombie time?
Saz Fiury It definitely can. I prefer it to the death-drop into the main hole though. Easy to bounce grenades up the stairs and back the defenders off a bit, since they're choked in there too.

I really miss this game so much
Keep looking at the minimap, scan it like your life depends on it. You can make a plan to kill enemies spotted or darted.
Use the map to plan your route and consider lanes of fire.
0:34 THIS! PLEASE DO THIS! Pretty soon I get tired of getting mowed down and just watch maxes die.
Luv ya Wrel. Keep us alive even if Daybreak wants us dead

Patrick.C Hey, thanks for the comment. I agree that a refund system would be pretty helpful for newer players in particular.
Anti armor ammo!!!!!Now!!!U got influence. Give it to me!!! As always:Good video. Nothing new but you are good.
Subterranean has a BACK DOOR?!?! My life has been a lie ...
I would guess the max at the very beginning of the video was a brand new player who hopped on for his first time. Probably chose the most awsome looking class and then wandered not knowing what he was doing. I remember the first time I played. I pretty much did the same thing not knowing what the heck I was supposed to do.
Any NC max tips? I always die in like 2 seconds whenever I equip it
Hey Wrel i have a video suggestion for you, class roles its getting to be big problem where newer players aren't healing/repairing other players.
Moral of that MAX's story in the beginning: If you are a MAX get a harasser buddy to drive you to the next base.
The carbines they have access to are generally better at the roles that class plays.

cant wait till this finally makes it to the ps4
Is it a play 2 win?

after using a grav lift you are immune from fall damage for a few seconds. use this to jump off high places without dying
ps4 coverage?
share the "how to get on a walltower, withoutusing the stairs" to the newer players
please make video '' how to unterstand which class is for you ''
Wrel could you do three videos where you go through the best weapons of each weapon type by faction? Maybe the best all-around weapon or a weapon that is exceptionally suited for some situation. That would be interesting content imo.

Havent played for a year now. Is TR still the weakest faction?
0Letten0 Pretty much. I mean it's nebulous and people will always say "Each faction has strengths and weaknesses." Which is partly true but it has always seemed to me that TR is the last amongst equals. And because of the group I game with I play TR almost exclusively.

Jacy Gouveia VS has pretty stable leadership/players: FCRW, HIVE, DPSO, Wu Tang, etc.
tip: stop walking in the middle of the road, its really stressfull for tank drivers and other vehicles to take note on your location. Walk on the side of the road.
has anyone noticed when they play tr their more likely to be flashed banged than the outher factions
Do all of your vehicular equipment stuff inside the spawn room or while de-spawned, NOT at the vehicle terminal. Snipers love vehicle terminals...
Those afterthoughts though... :p
Thanks!
LPT: Do not revive someone to get XP but to actually try and help, nobody likes to get spawnkilled
lol that Max...
lizardmen98 I think that max was a mad max (don't kil me XD).
lizardmen98 I think that max was a mad max (don't kil me XD).
when the hell is this coming out on PS4 already?
William Ablett June 23rd. It just got announced this morning.
Very nice video
I hate it when MAXes expect you to risk your ass for them. I did a few times, but now i offer repair and wait nearby. If he doesn't come - his loss.

Nope, can confirm 90% of BR100s don't even think of doing any of this. Frustrating.
Wrel, why do you like to play as a female? Please don't get me wrong, i am not judging you for anything or saying that playing as the other gender is bad or something (i myself play as a female sometimes). I would just like to hear if you have any reason for it or if it's just "becuase, that's why"
Also please random ppl don't respond to me with things like "because woman ass" i just want to know if he has some reason for it or not.
