Just got this today (my first ever gimbal) and I've used it to record my daughter's school performance. Great product and I don't regret buying it :). I am still learning on how to balance it as I am using Samsung Note 8 with i-Blason case which makes it a bit bulkier and heavier.
Hi Zdenka, Thank you for making this video! You should be hired to do the videos for the product. I got the Osmo Mobile 3 last Tuesday and I was annoyed that their instruction videos don't take into account that some of us have never used gimbals. After going through many of their videos I was ready to send it back, then I ran into your video and voila I was able to get started, I might not send it back :). Again, thank you!

Wow! Finally, a video using dji osmo 3 and s10+ because most of the other reviewers are either using iPhone X or Pixel 3 and I'm curious if the ultra wide angle will work without obstruction and I'm glad that it will. Great job Zdenka!
I cannot use the ultra wide with my s10 and osmo mobile 3 which is why I bought it to replace the first gen because of the obstruction. The fact that it works with the s10+ is great news. I need to find a way to counter balance my s10 once I push it out more to one side in order to clear the obstruction. :/
I also have the Galaxy S10+ and have decided to go for this gimbal on the basis of this video and the follow up one using a microphone as well. I'm really impressed by your reports

I finally pulled the trigger I bought this dji osmo 3 i got the entire package with the Tripod and the case and strap etc . I also bought an anamorphic Lens an. 3 gig Sandisk s.d. card Soni can start shoo8tng some cinematic movies just simply using my cellphone. Totally amazing.. Were all able to be filmmakers now and use our imagination.. Totally cool....
Thank you for another nice film with a comprehensive explanation. I bought a Samsung S10+ last week - I did not need a new phone, I bought it for the wide angle lens. I have a UA-cam site on RV travel, a lot of what I do is filming the insides of RVs and for that I need a wide angle lens. I bought a Sony a6000 mirrorless camera and Feyju Tech a1000 gimbal for that but the camera overheats after around 30 minutes use and takes some time to cool down, furthermore it is quite heavy. To make it more complicated, most of what I can film is in a very short window of time so therefore the lightweight telephone seems ideal. I bought a DJI Osmo 2 last year, I was very upset to see that the gimbal gets in the way, however it does not if the gimbal is held as a torch (flashlight mode). Of course this means that I must find a new style of holding the gimbal but I am practicing now, I posted my first video with it and I think it came out OK. It really is a pity, as you say, that the DJI app does not incorporate the wide angle as it would make things so much easier!
@@ZdenkaDarula Zdenka I think the problem is constantly buying new equipment. As I have now more or less worked out how to use the DJI2 without the gimbal getting in the way, I think I will stick to ths. If it were not for the fact that I now have a reasonable income from UA-cam, I would not have spent so much on the S10+ which was over EUR1,000. I don't know how to film which was why I came to your channel and I am glad I did. On the other hand I do know about one or two other subjects which others may be interested in so I suppose I need to learn how to film better! Thank you very much for what you have done for others including myself!

I have the same set up as you. Today I tried to experiment with pano timelapse. I only saw 240° in pano mode with 7 exposures required which I find too many. Is there any way to change it to 180° and 4 exposures as I couldn't find how to do it?

Hi does OM3 and mimo app supports Saramonic wireless microphone? Bought a saramonic wireless microphone and it doesnt support with mimo app also with my Oneplus 7 Pro. I have to use open camera app to use the saramonic with gimbal but I cannot use the full functions from mimo app. Is there any workout or solution? Much appreciate your help. Thanks Joy.

I am honestly staying away from digital zoom as it is never smooth and the quality gets worse when you zoom in. It is better to shoot in 4K and then do it in post.... 🎬😊📸🎥
Great! I just purchased Osmo3 and charging it. Let's get it charge than I will try all these. But how would be use with mono pod in the mimo app. How the controls will be used. What you suggest with stock camera app would be better or the mimo app.
I suggest playing with all the features first to see what best suits you.. as for monopod you have to set it up before you lift it. Have lots of fun with it
Hello... how do you manage to shoot in wide-screen without capturing the motor? I'm using Samsung galaxy s10e, the camera setup is similar to what is on galaxy that you have.. pls do suggest. I bough this DJI osmo3 over other ones just so that the wide angle doesn't capture the motor.. kinda heart broken right now..

Hello from Germany! Can anyone please tell me what exactly is locked, (which parts of the gimble) when you hold the trigger? When I hold the trigger the Gimble moves around like without pressing the trigger.
That is strange .. it should move around.... if you point on object in front of you and move ... you should be loosing the object... but when you press the trigger, the camera should keep pointing on the subject as you move.... I hope this makes sense.... 📱📷📽📹🤗
I don't let those complicated words confuse you... literally grab gimbal and play with it for hours to understand what it can do. Pan control... you control moving left and right... invert tilt is I think upside down... might be wrong. I dont do well with fenctmy words either... lol

I have a Galaxy Samsung S10+ and i just bought a DJI OSMO MOBILE 3. I noticed that the S10+ gets a little warm when I use it with the OSMO 3. Is that ok?

Hi, Another great video. I have the Osmo2 and S10x like yours. A couple of questions, 1) on the osmo 3 could I charge my phone from the gimbal? Osmo2 is supposed to do this but when the phone is attached the usb port is covered by the Gimbal. 2) I have only had my osmo 2 for a few months so paying out for the new one is a bit extravagant, is the upgrade worth doing now or should I wait to see if they upgrade again to allow the use of all the lenses? I don't want to be buying a new gimbal every few months!!
Great questions. I upgraded because Osmo 2 was blocking the picture with motor when I was using wide lens. To be honest I don't think they will upgrade it anytime soon. I think the multiple lenses are still too new so they are not adding it to their app. The USB port is not blocked as you can see in my video so you can charge it from power bank externally.. I have to check if the gimbal allows you charging. Not sure on this one. There is actually full manual for download on DJI site. I suggest downloading it and look at it to see what it all does... i hope this helps
Hi Zdenka, how you enable the 4k resolution in Mimo App? When I tried to launch the DJI Mimo App without gimbal connected, it only gives 1080p max resolution for video. My phone is Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro.

im looking at getting this gimble once i get my s10+ , hopefully over the next month. Currently still using the old samsung 7. Do these gimbles cater to the older GoPro hero 4. How do you do your video edits.? This is the only thing i am struggling to do, so time-consuming! I guess thats the part of doing videos. LOL
I am not sure if you can attach gopro as I don't have one... yes video editing is time consuming and unfortunately it is a big part of creating videos....

The only question is to test how the ultra wide angle of view of the camera works with this gimbal. Is the gimbal arm covering the camera. I currently have S7 Edge and Smooth4 where the gimbal's entry into the frame is occasional. However, if I connected it to the S10 or used GoPro, which I sometimes use, but I know how to avoid problems, then Smooth 4 comes into my frame. It seems to me that the new system offered by OSMO should solve this problem in its entirety. Is the S10 not a problem with a wide lens?
If you go to my latest videos you will see a video which I filmed in the woods on staircase... all filmed with ultra wide angle lens on my S10+ and didn't have any issues there. The arm moved solved it for me.

For the Osmo Mobile 3, Is it true that all the video files are accumulated in the mimo app which takes up internal storage? If so is there a way you can transfer the files from the app to sd card?
I am looking to buy a gimbal and initially was thinking about the Vilta M, but now see the DGI Osmo 3. The trouble is, I have a Nokia 7+ phone and don't know if this would work with the gimbal. the on/off switch on the phone is almost exactly halfway down the right side of the phone so I think this will prevent the gimbal camping the phone. Also, it seems many gimbals and gimbal apps are more reliable with Apple phones, rather than Android. At over £100 here in the UK for almost any gimbal, it's a big gamble.
Yes and that is something I cannot answer unfortunately. I have it tested with my phone S10plus which works great but unsure about your model... hopefully someone else can help out here...
Ive reviewed this gimble for 2 days and almost bought it today. Im only concerned if I can use it with my Samsung Note 8 - with multiple lenses. I think I can use it with this gimble. Nice video, but I have a question though. I've read that with Android you can't use the shutter button or zoom buttons on the gimbal without the DJI app. You said that everything works with the native camera app, but can you confirm that with the S10+, the shutter and zoom buttons actually work with the native camera app?
To be honest shutter works perfectly fine. I don't touch zoom.... digital zoom degrades quality so you don't want to use it at all in first place.... just move yourself back and forth... new video about DJI is coming up tomorrow 📹📷📽📱

For example, I have a Samsung Galaxy S10+ with a Spigen Tough Armor Case. It would be nice to have a video where you put different cases on the phone so that people can compare with their own cases and get an idea if the phone would fit.
Hey Zdenka, another question :) The first 2 official tutorial slides in the Mimo app...What do they mean? I am worried if I damaged my Gimbal by following those 2 slides. It says to hold the motor head and move the Gimbal left right and up-down. This feels like something will break if you do it. Also if you hold just the axis hand and not where the hand is usually, the bottom part where you usually hold it starts going left and right like mad. So what da heck did they mean by those first 2 tutorial slides?
I honestly don't know what you are doing.... if you are putting phone in and try to balance dont turn on the gimbal... keep it off. Never turn on gimbal if there is no phone in it. ....
@@ZdenkaDarula Well I was following the first 2 slides of tutorials while the Gimbal was turned on because nowhere did they mention it has to be turned off. What's worse is that these are the officiak tutorials and the first thing you see when you connect their official DJI Mimo app and you have to go through those tutorials in order to continue, it's not possible to exit them. So I am worried I might have damaged my Gimbal by following their poorly written first 2 slides while the Gimbal was turned on. I have sent them an email regarding this. They should really emphasise that it needs to be turned off since this is the first thing you see when you connect the app.
@@theimstorm689 yes if you have paper manual in the box follow that. That one is correct... first place phone in, balance it, turn on bluetooth and then go to DJI Mimo.... it might still be ok, just start all over with the phone in... again if you see paper manual in the box, it should be there... I hope this helps..
I have just purchased DJI Osmo 3 mobile gimbal. I also just discovered your videos! Can you recommend settings for filming dog agility? It is a fast sport where the dog does obstacles like jumps and tunnels. I would like the gimbal to follow the dog. I am using Samsung Note 9. Your videos are so good to follow, cheers.
Unfortunately I am finding that face tracking is quite slow sometimes so it will have hard time to track dog.... I would just use camera phone and tripod.... 😊📸📸🎬

Hi Zdenka! I will appreciate very much if you could answer my question: Is possible to force Osmo Mobile 3 to make an automatic rotation 180 degrees or even more? Probably Path Timelapse of Mimo app would be useful. Why am I asking: I own Zhiyun Smooth-4, I use Motion Timelapse option of ZY-Play app on my Galaxy S9 (Android 10). I am able to run rotation up to 180 degrees only, but sometime I need 300 degrees for instance. I mean start and end points. If I set it higher than 180 degrees, the Zhiyun Smooth-4 gimbal behaves illogically (it goes silly). Few months ago I asked Zhiyun about such a phenomena but till today there is no improvement. Smooth-4 firmware version is still the same, the new version of ZY-Play does not have significant improvement for me. So this is why I consider the Osmo Mobile 3 gimbal. I will appreciate any hint. Great stuff. Got my Mobile 3 a few weeks back and loving it....cant wait to do more videos with it. Only setback while using an Android phone is that the app doesn't allow me to use the Slow Motion, only the iPhone has it when attached to the Mobile 3....have written in to DJI's support team and will see how it goes

@@Vijasvmishra those who say it is not necessarily most like have iphone 11 which has amazing Stabilization or shoot only is slow motion videos.... I cannot get steady video in real speed... naturally hand shakes. If you had a chance to try one you would know right away... it is hard to explain.

Thank you for your support Frank. Yes I do agree. It seems like gimbals cannot keep up with the new phones... all the products are popping up everywhere but they seem not to be ready for one another. I use Filmic pro bug just use my finger and tap on the screen. Even when I used Osmo w I still preferred using my finger instead so it is the same for me. But I do understand what you are meaning ....

I wrote to support that i was very disappointed when updating from Osmo Mobile 2 to Osmo Mobile 3 because Filmic Pro ist not supported. And hurray i got this answer. QUOTE: Thanks for writing in! Out of the box at the moment you can use the Osmo Mobile 3 for basic stabilization, and it may be possible to start/stop recording from the gimbal. To do so, follow these steps: 1.) Turn on your Osmo Mobile 3. 2.) In your System Settings, select Bluetooth and connect to the Osmo Mobile 3. 3.) Do NOT turn on the DJI Osmo Mobile toggle in FiLMiC Pro's Hardware settings. If it's on, toggle it off. 4.) In FiLMiC Pro's Settings > Device, scroll all the way to the bottom and toggle "Volume Keys Trigger Recording" ON. Once you've done this, you should be able to use the record button to start/stop recording. END OF QUOTE -------------------------------- I tried it out. It works. Record button is better than nothing and helps to tap less on the screen.

I have the same set up as you. Today I tried to experiment with pano timelapse. I only saw 240° in pano mode with 7 exposures required which I find too many. Is there any way to change it to 180° and 4 exposures as I couldn't find how to do it?

Hi does OM3 and mimo app supports Saramonic wireless microphone? Bought a saramonic wireless microphone and it doesnt support with mimo app also with my Oneplus 7 Pro. Yes digital zoom in smartphones is never good.... you can try filmic pro which has a bit more control 📷📽🤗📹📱

I am honestly staying away from digital zoom as it is never smooth and the quality gets worse when you zoom in. It is better to shoot in 4K and then do it in post.... 🎬😊📸🎥

Great! I just purchased Osmo3 and charging it. Let's get it charge than I will try all these. But how would be use with mono pod in the mimo app. How the controls will be used. What you suggest with stock camera app would be better or the mimo app.
I suggest playing with all the features first to see what best suits you.. as for monopod you have to set it up before you lift it. Have lots of fun with it

Hello... how do you manage to shoot in wide-screen without capturing the motor? I'm using Samsung galaxy s10e, the camera setup is similar to what is on galaxy that you have.. pls do suggest. I bough this DJI osmo3 over other ones just so that the wide angle doesn't capture the motor.. kinda heart broken right now..
Unfortunately that happens with all of them. You just need to move it a bit to left and use counterweight to balance it properly 🎥😊🎬📸

Hello from Germany! Can anyone please tell me what exactly is locked, (which parts of the gimble) when you hold the trigger? When I hold the trigger the Gimble moves around like without pressing the trigger.
That is strange .. it should move around.... if you point on object in front of you and move ... you should be loosing the object... but when you press the trigger, the camera should keep pointing on the subject as you move.... I hope this makes sense.... 📱📷📽📹🤗

I don't let those complicated words confuse you... literally grab gimbal and play with it for hours to understand what it can do. Pan control... you control moving left and right... invert tilt is I think upside down... might be wrong. I dont do well with fenctmy words either... lol

I think I should be OK. You are probably filming for a long periods of time. But I don’t see a reason to be concerned 📸🎥😊🎬

Hi, Another great video. I have the Osmo2 and S10x like yours. A couple of questions, 1) on the osmo 3 could I charge my phone from the gimbal? Osmo2 is supposed to do this but when the phone is attached the usb port is covered by the Gimbal. 2) I have only had my osmo 2 for a few months so paying out for the new one is a bit extravagant, is the upgrade worth doing now or should I wait to see if they upgrade again to allow the use of all the lenses? I don't want to be buying a new gimbal every few months!!
Great questions. I upgraded because Osmo 2 was blocking the picture with motor when I was using wide lens. To be honest I don't think they will upgrade it anytime soon. I think the multiple lenses are still too new so they are not adding it to their app. The USB port is not blocked as you can see in my video so you can charge it from power bank externally.. I have to check if the gimbal allows you charging. Not sure on this one. There is actually full manual for download on DJI site. I suggest downloading it and look at it to see what it all does... i hope this helps

Hi Zdenka, how you enable the 4k resolution in Mimo App? When I tried to launch the DJI Mimo App without gimbal connected, it only gives 1080p max resolution for video. My phone is Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro.
You need to have gimbal connected via bluetooth to your phone and then go to settings.. it should be there. 🙃📽📹📷

im looking at getting this gimble once i get my s10+ , hopefully over the next month. Currently still using the old samsung 7. Do these gimbles cater to the older GoPro hero 4. How do you do your video edits.? This is the only thing i am struggling to do, so time-consuming! I guess thats the part of doing videos. LOL
I am not sure if you can attach gopro as I don't have one... yes video editing is time consuming and unfortunately it is a big part of creating videos....

Does Filmic Pro support Dji mobile 3?
Unfortunately not yet.... not sure if it will happen as they find DJI very buggy... I still use it though.... but tapping on the screen 🌞📽📱📹📷
The only question is to test how the ultra wide angle of view of the camera works with this gimbal. Is the gimbal arm covering the camera. I currently have S7 Edge and Smooth4 where the gimbal's entry into the frame is occasional. However, if I connected it to the S10 or used GoPro, which I sometimes use, but I know how to avoid problems, then Smooth 4 comes into my frame. It seems to me that the new system offered by OSMO should solve this problem in its entirety. Is the S10 not a problem with a wide lens?
If you go to my latest videos you will see a video which I filmed in the woods on staircase... all filmed with ultra wide angle lens on my S10+ and didn't have any issues there. The arm moved solved it for me.

For the Osmo Mobile 3, Is it true that all the video files are accumulated in the mimo app which takes up internal storage? If so is there a way you can transfer the files from the app to sd card?

I am looking to buy a gimbal and initially was thinking about the Vilta M, but now see the DGI Osmo 3.
The trouble is, I have a Nokia 7+ phone and don't know if this would work with the gimbal. the on/off switch on the phone is almost exactly halfway down the right side of the phone so I think this will prevent the gimbal camping the phone.
Also, it seems many gimbals and gimbal apps are more reliable with Apple phones, rather than Android.
At over £100 here in the UK for almost any gimbal, it's a big gamble.
Yes and that is something I cannot answer unfortunately. I have it tested with my phone S10plus which works great but unsure about your model... hopefully someone else can help out here...

I have quite slim cover and I think it could fit. Better and tighter fit is without the cover though... I hope this helps

Nice video, but I have a question though. I've read that with Android you can't use the shutter button or zoom buttons on the gimbal without the DJI app. You said that everything works with the native camera app, but can you confirm that with the S10+, the shutter and zoom buttons actually work with the native camera app?
To be honest shutter works perfectly fine. I don't touch zoom.... digital zoom degrades quality so you don't want to use it at all in first place.... just move yourself back and forth... new video about DJI is coming up tomorrow 📹📷📽📱

For example, I have a Samsung Galaxy S10+ with a Spigen Tough Armor Case. Hey Zdenka, another question :) The first 2 official tutorial slides in the Mimo app...What do they mean? I am worried if I damaged my Gimbal by following those 2 slides. It says to hold the motor head and move the Gimbal left right and up-down. This feels like something will break if you do it. Also if you hold just the axis hand and not where the hand is usually, the bottom part where you usually hold it starts going left and right like mad. So what da heck did they mean by those first 2 tutorial slides?
I honestly don't know what you are doing.... if you are putting phone in and try to balance dont turn on the gimbal... keep it off. Never turn on gimbal if there is no phone in it. ....
@@ZdenkaDarula Well I was following the first 2 slides of tutorials while the Gimbal was turned on because nowhere did they mention it has to be turned off. What's worse is that these are the officiak tutorials and the first thing you see when you connect their official DJI Mimo app and you have to go through those tutorials in order to continue, it's not possible to exit them. So I am worried I might have damaged my Gimbal by following their poorly written first 2 slides while the Gimbal was turned on. I have sent them an email regarding this. They should really emphasise that it needs to be turned off since this is the first thing you see when you connect the app.
@@theimstorm689 yes if you have paper manual in the box follow that. That one is correct... first place phone in, balance it, turn on bluetooth and then go to DJI Mimo.... it might still be ok, just start all over with the phone in... again if you see paper manual in the box, it should be there... I hope this helps..
I have just purchased DJI Osmo 3 mobile gimbal. I also just discovered your videos! Can you recommend settings for filming dog agility? It is a fast sport where the dog does obstacles like jumps and tunnels. I would like the gimbal to follow the dog. I am using Samsung Note 9. Your videos are so good to follow, cheers.
Unfortunately I am finding that face tracking is quite slow sometimes so it will have hard time to track dog.... I would just use camera phone and tripod.... 😊📸📸🎬

Is possible to force Osmo Mobile 3 to make an automatic rotation 180 degrees or even more?
Probably Path Timelapse of Mimo app would be useful.
Why am I asking:
I own Zhiyun Smooth-4, I use Motion Timelapse option of ZY-Play app on my Galaxy S9 (Android 10).
I am able to run rotation up to 180 degrees only, but sometime I need 300 degrees for instance. I mean start and end points. If I set it higher than 180 degrees, the Zhiyun Smooth-4 gimbal behaves illogically (it goes silly).
Few months ago I asked Zhiyun about such a phenomena but till today there is no improvement. Smooth-4 firmware version is still the same, the new version of ZY-Play does not have significant improvement for me.
So this is why I consider the Osmo Mobile 3 gimbal.
I will appreciate any hint.

Only setback while using an Android phone is that the app doesn't allow me to use the Slow Motion, only the iPhone has it when attached to the Mobile 3....have written in to DJI's support team and will see how it goes

Unfortunately 60fpsis not supported for Android phones on DJI mimo app. You would have to use Filmic pro 📷📱📽📹

Zdenka Darula Yes I have seen videos about gimbal that’s the reason I have been confused about its usage some say it’s not at all necessary and some say it’s better to have a gimbal 🤔
@@Vijasvmishra those who say it is not necessarily most like have iphone 11 which has amazing Stabilization or shoot only is slow motion videos.... I cannot get steady video in real speed... naturally hand shakes. If you had a chance to try one you would know right away... it is hard to explain.
Zdenka Darula well I do use an iPhone 11 Pro Max and now have ordered a dji Osmo 3 just to get the feel of it maybe I could up my vlogging game one step at a time 😊

I love your videos. I just upgraded from Osmo Mobile 2 to Osmo Mobile 3 and was very disappointed that Filmic Pro is not yet supported. With Om2 everything worked fine with S10 plus. Do you use Filmic Pro too?

Thank you for your support Frank. Yes I do agree. It seems like gimbals cannot keep up with the new phones... all the products are popping up everywhere but they seem not to be ready for one another. I use Filmic pro bug just use my finger and tap on the screen. Even when I used Osmo w I still preferred using my finger instead so it is the same for me. But I do understand what you are meaning ....

I wrote to support that i was very disappointed when updating from Osmo Mobile 2 to Osmo Mobile 3 because Filmic Pro ist not supported. And hurray i got this answer.

Out of the box at the moment you can use the Osmo Mobile 3 for basic stabilization, and it may be possible to start/stop recording from the gimbal. To do so, follow these steps:
1.) Turn on your Osmo Mobile 3.
2.) In your System Settings, select Bluetooth and connect to the Osmo Mobile 3.
3.) Do NOT turn on the DJI Osmo Mobile toggle in FiLMiC Pro's Hardware settings. If it's on, toggle it off.
4.) In FiLMiC Pro's Settings > Device, scroll all the way to the bottom and toggle "Volume Keys Trigger Recording" ON.
Once you've done this, you should be able to use the record button to start/stop recording.

I tried it out. It works. Record button is better than nothing and helps to tap less on the screen.
Has the active track been fixed for android in the mobile 3? It was broken in Osmi 2 and only worked perfectly for I phones.
I never had issue with active track on either of them... both work well for me 🙂📽📷📱📹
