    When I came into beard products, just like most things I went in head first and DEEP! Fomo caught me and I kept grabbing this , that and mostly everything in between. This behavior continued even being a reviewer/ influencer… I bought everything that looked cool or sounded good ( scent wise ).
    Then in 2021 I looked at the 400+ bottle of oil collection and was like “ THIS HAS TO STOP “ and slowly dialed it back. This video is a MUST SEE for anyone who is into a niche market or has impulse control issues.
    Great idea, well spoken

      @@OGs_Playground 100% This is why we stopped offering 12 seasonals per year with our different "Seasonal Series". We are focused on streamlining and scaling to reach more new people, rather than trying to fomo the people that do follow us into buy 25 oils and butters a year.

    I was caught up in this with beard products. I took a look around at what I had and said to myself it's time to truly dial in what works best for me (company/brand) Only buy from now my top 5, when I can buy. Thank you for the video, helps strengthen those who may need guidance on this exact situation.

    I didn't realize I had a problem until I started cleaning out my bathroom of all the products I continued to buy that had all went bad. I threw away money because I kept buying and buying and they went bad because I had to have "the next greatest thing." This time around I know what not to do and my goal is to finish said products I paid for before dropping a bunch more cash on something else. I also believe FOMO (fear of missing out) got me. Thanks for the vid, OG Rob.

    I agree with what you are saying and get that it's not wrong to endorse a product, but when you are trying to be a trusted name whether nationally or in a small niche thing it's important to avoid pushing poor products! Short term, yeah, you get money but long term your opinion becomes worthless.
    For example, I used to listen to talk radio shows and disliked it when the host pitched an ad, because if that product sucks it discredits everything about the host.
    Recently a lot of UA-camrs were put in this situation where a scam company was selling square foot pieces of land that entitled the buyer to legally title themselves a Lord or Lady. It was a scam, you weren't really buying anything and when this scam got revealed one channel I followed released details of his transaction with them in an apology video.

    Great video man. Spending a ton of money made me go out and find other companies. At the time, my favorite company sold beard oil for $25 and balm for $20 all before taxes and shipping. Dude had a new scent like once a month and I had to have it. The problem was once I discovered other companies I watched reviews and I was influenced to buy, buy, buy. I spent, I mean wasted a lot of money. BUT then, I became and influencer myself.
    After a while, I stopped doing review style videos because they got boring but at the same time, I realized that I was no longer a walking, talking billboard. I talk about companies here and there but it's just to tell my audience what I'm using . I know that the "influence" is still there but it's not on purpose. Like it's not a "review." I don't knock the game and I'm glad that I got a hold of myself. Seeing dudes with a wall of beard products does not impress me like it did in the past. I've given away thousands of dollars worth of shit and I do not miss it. Once again, I appreciate your video, OG Rob! You continue to put things in perspective. RESPECT 👊🏾.
    OH, side note: I now only review things that REALLY pique my interest. The last thing that I recall reviewing was a solid cologne. I've never used a cologne prior to the review and I thought the concept was/is cool ✌🏾.

    • @OGs_Playground
      @OGs_Playground  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the time and perspective on you figuring it all out, Lump. I guess I knew it alot longer that I admitted to myself that it all was becoming a problem. I guess, once I've "done" something it's kinda over as quick as it started. There was no need for me to stick around reviewing and sing the same song everyone else was singing. I enjoyed it while it was fresh but the affiliate offers wouldn't stop. And that'll always be a no for me cuz money don't run me. Except where me and FOMO ocassionally take a short jog 😉. As always... Much respect 👊🏼

    I thought i had a problem with 22 beard oils. (I’d say half are rather almost empty or half way gone) I’m always clicking those links and putting them in my cart and going all the way and then usually the shipping stops me lol that extra $5-$7 and I’m like ehhhh do I really need this? Then end up backing out. It is definitely harder to trust people that are getting a kickback and getting free stuff out of it. Luckily I realized that sooner than later making a couple buys and not liking the product.

    We all probably need impulse control. I’m only buying from my No. 1 beard co and here n there trying a few companies I’ve never tried but I’ll never buy anything because an influencer says it’s the best. They don’t have my $ or beard (beard products are what I buy) I’ve been around long enough to know what’s best for my beard. Appreciate you Rob

    Great, great video! I agree with much of what you have said. I love the beard community, but I also found myself trying to buy what sounded like a good beard product. Most were actually good products, but next thing I knew, I had 40 bottles of oil that I could not possibly use in a year. So I learned to slow down. I have my favorite companies and will purchase them once in a while. You are right, if you are passionate about something great, but spend wisely. Again GREAT topic and video, thank you!

      I hope it's received well and wakes a couple people like me up. Ngl... it'd be kinda cool if influencers would keep this in mind when creating the FOMO that generates their income, even though it's not really in their best interest. Their constant push (sometimes accompanied with questionable truth and intentions) is just the right ingredient to create an addiction issue. Not a popular opinion there I'm sure. But facts are facts.
