  • I've been meaning to shoot this vlog for you for a while. It's a follow-up to a crucial vlog from last July called "Invited vs. Included" that resulted from a life-altering incident at the 2019 Family Reunion. I've spent the past several months on an incredibly important journey, and I'm going to tell you all about it in this week's vlog. It has everything to do with the new course, too. We’re changing the name from Bright Line Sisu to Bright Line Grit, and if you want to know why, this is the vlog to watch. Trust me, you don't want to miss this one.

I truly appreciate your willingness to be transparent and mindful toward the diversity of your following.
I had always been put off by some aspects of your delivery however your genuine caring nature and your honest desire to see people healed has always shown thru and I have been able to take what I needed to heal and leave the rest. I'm glad you are learning and growing and once again I see that after all you are like the rest of us, human. How refreshing to be reminded again that not one of us is perfect but I laud your willingness to get things right, eat crow when you need to and serve our "collective" (I pray I'm not offending any Star Trekians) in your highest self. Kudos.

Thanks, Susan, for this thoughtful, vulnerable, and transparent post. I must admit to having mixed feelings about your giving up swearing--but obviously, how you choose to speak is your decision and always should be. Thank you for your commitment to always trying to communicate in the most accessible way possible, and for working so hard to make new resources available to us as new circumstances emerge. Love always.

Susan, thank you, I love you, I am grateful to be included. Background; I'm a WASP male in my 60's, because of BLE and what I have learned here, I can truly love myself. Which makes it possible to love others. Knowing intellectually that I'm supposed to connect with the people in the world is not the same as being able to do so. You model for us (Bright Liners, your family, and others too) integrity, acceptance, and love/respect for everyone. Again, thank you, I love you, I am grateful to be included.

Susan, thank you. ♥️ Bright Line Eating changed my life. I am happy, thin, and free, and at my right sized body for 2 years. Thank you for always being honest with your community. Your honesty encourages the rest of us to live in full honesty with ourselves and our families.

RIGHT ON!!! That’s awesome that you took in the email, and consulted so many other people, thought about it and changed it. I wasn’t a fan of the word...but I am of GRIT! (I even have it tattooed on my knuckles! 🤪) I’ve had some pretty life transformative events over the past 5 years....but thankfully, I’m a better person because of it. I WILL admit that I swear now...but it’s a “freeing” things for me...but I know everyone is different. I DO refrain in front of my parents and nieces. 🤷‍♀️
Thanks for being REAL with us! RIGHT ON!!! Cheers!

Thank you for changing the name. My bestie of 35+ years is Finnish so I knew about SISU. I was appalled that BLE appropriated that term and so glad someone alerted you to the error. Keep learning and growing and being curious. Thanks for all you do, I love this BLE way of eating and healing.

My Latin teacher did a personal project of researching the derivations, the histories of swear words. Shit is farmer talk, it's the sound of manure pushing out of a cow and hitting the ground. Damn means to curse, to doom someone. The F word is the oldest, and it means to plant, to forcibly insert seed into the ground, and the ground is completely passive and powerless of course. So it naturally also meant the same thing toward women, who were just as powerless then. You guessed it, it's not consensual. The F word means rape. "F You" means "I will rape you." When I learned that, I quit using it. I still let slip an S word sometimes, but no D and no F.

Thank you for your program and all of your videos to help people. I am also plant based and have been on BLE for 3 weeks now and I have to be honest, I feel like I’m gaining fat. And let me preface this by saying I am a VERY experienced dieter, have been weighing food for years when I’m “on whatever wagon” I’m doing at the time. I am very good at tracking calories and macros after years of doing it so there is not much room for calculative error when I say this. I feel I am gaining weight, not losing. And I have a good 40 lbs to lose to be to my right size body based on your book. I always feel super full, am never hungry for my next meal, and I only feel “light” first thing in the morning. The rest of the day I feel like my body fat is just growing. I recently decided to cut my veggies down a few ounces at lunch and dinner and it didn’t help much with the uncomfortable, full feeling and just overall feel very heavy and fat. My digestion seems to be going very well but I still feel this way. So I don’t know what to do. Tomorrow is my 2nd weigh in since I’ve started and I’m almost positive the scale will show either no change or even a gain. 😕 .... I logged a regular day of eating in a calorie counting app just out of curiosity and it’s only 1200-1300 calories each day but like 50 grams of fiber which seems so high to me, especially being plant based and eating beans for lunch and dinner because I think I am intolerant to soy unfortunately. The kicker is, I am someone who thrives on volume eating so it’s been great not being hungry but I sure don’t want to gain more. Any advice is welcome 🙏

Thanks for this thought provoking video. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and I feel similarly about the word “Mormon.” That is NOT the name of our church, and it’s offensive because it’s used derogatorily and we have a history of being oppressed. I really wish people would stop using that “nickname” for us.

Thank you. I hadn’t ever thought about the use of the term “tribe.” I appreciate the education. The term “grit” is perfect and for me so relatable. I’m glad you received the email in time to update the name of our new coarse!

Glad you aren`t using the word ``tribe.``
I found some interesting info -
Did you know that Sisu is a brand of supplements in Canada? From the Sisu website:
    ``Sisu means `Inner Strength`
While there is no direct English translation, the Finnish word “sisu” truly encapsulates what we stand for, the products we stand behind, and the people we serve:
Inner strength. Integrity. Perseverance. At Sisu, we acknowledge the effort that Canadians put forth every day to stay on top of the seemingly endless stream of deadlines, tasks, and unexpected challenges. As such, we expect no less of ourselves, constantly striving to offer the highest quality, most effective products on the market. Our numerous awards for innovation and consumer satisfaction only reinforce this belief, encouraging us to continue helping others to enjoy lives that are healthy, happy and productive: in perfect balance. Release your Inner Strength, with Sisu.``

Wondering how to make BLE more accessible to people like my sisters and cousins who graduated from high school, shy away from science, and grew up shame filled but stay away from personal growth- therapy...AND are overweight or obese??? Ex SPT drug addiction story is a better credential for them than the college professor....

BLE is a way of life that for most of us requires community to sustain. Susan leads this community. It’s about us all feeling safe and included in this community.

    • @Brightlineeating
      @Brightlineeating  4 роки тому +1

Hi Anita! Your question is certainly understandable. Here's what Susan has said in relation to this concern:
"BLE isn’t really about food or weight. It’s about becoming the kind of people who don’t need to use food as a crutch. It’s about doing our inner work, learning to be self-compassionate, and leaning into community. I definitely still talk about food and weight, but in the approximate proportion that those topics occupy in our program. Living happy, thin, and free requires first handling the food, then moving past it. That requires a whole lot of courage and a whole lot of learning from our mistakes. It’s all relevant. My vlogs are one example of what working the BLE program as hard as you can for 17 years looks and sounds like. Food and weight topics come up now about as often as they always did. :) "

Good on you Susan. I suspect the Swearing Self is just another part that wants to drive the bus and that you will be able to escort it to a back seat once you engage. I dig you but i felt myself that the swearing didnt become you, what you want to do, or your higher self but I didnt want to impose my stuff on to you. Thanks

Hi Guys! Thanks for watching and for adding to the discussion here. 💙 In Bright Line Eating Official and all our Facebook Communities, we have the following guideline regarding spirituality:
Spirituality - Susan Peirce Thompson’s message about spirituality: “A word about spirituality. Bright Line Eating is faith neutral, meaning that anyone can do Bright Line Eating and succeed, whether they have a spiritual or religious practice or not. In this community, it's important to keep in mind that faith and religion are very important to some people, and not having faith or religion is equally important to others.
What we do here is love, accept, and encourage everyone, no matter their background or beliefs. If faith is a part of your journey, you can incorporate that into your posts here, but please make sure it's done in a way that's respectful of people from other belief systems. For example, writing, “I’m praying for you. Remember that (insert prophet or deity of choice here) is waiting for you when you’re ready!” may not land well with everyone in our community. Something like, “Sending love and prayers!” is more universally respectful. And if you're agnostic or atheist, please take equal care to make sure that your posts on this subject are accepting and loving."
