As a Spaniard living abroad, it's been very heartwarming listening to you. Thank you for reminding me the positive aspects about my country. I'll recommend your channel to my Spanish students, some of them are American.
I subscribed also! I am born and raised in the SF Bay Area and I LOVE IT, but I am 50 and recognize it’s a challenge to retire here comfortably. Spain would be lovely!
Oh my goodness, I love it there! But the prices are nuts. I'm in Asturias and the weather is very similar to where you are. If you're looking into Spain I'd recommend joining the Spain's help group for expats FB group. There are many more groups to consider depending on your interest.
My American wife moved to Bordeaux to join me here in December 2016 (I'll let you guess why 😂). We couldn't picture "us" in the US. The second day she woke up in France, she had the realization that she was finally "home". She never returned to the US and we don't have plans except for a quick trip to visit friends.
That's so funny. When I first was married we lived in Spain for a few years, but I pushed my husband to move to the states. I was in my 20's then. While I don't regret moving back, but I don't think I'd do it if I had to do over. Have you visited Asturias? This is the part of Spain that I'm in.
@@momshouldve I visited Spain twice. Never the Asturias tho. I went to Salamanca mostly. I never was a huge fan of the culture, and I much prefer the Mexican culture. Wifey is desperate for some good Mexican food here. It is sorely lacking in France... 😉
Hey, love your channel name. Thx for sharing your experience. I subscribed because there are a lot of things my mom should've told me, lol. Looking fwd to updates on your saga, from America.
I prefer to work for myself after working at my last job. It was so bad for my health that I can't find it in myself to work for someone else. Maybe one day that will change, but for now I will work for me.
Oh, absolutely! I actually claim both. When I first lived in Spain I considered myself an expat because I moved back to the states. At this point in life, I think Spain is the best place for me. So now I can be considered an immigrant, a person who comes to live permanently in a foreign country. As compared to an expat, a person who lives outside of their native country.
Spain isn't perfect, losing a vast amount of water to seaside tourist hotel industry , also extremely hot when not facing big floods. Very patriarchal.
I can agree that nowhere is perfect. I live in northern Spain, it's quite different from the rest of the country. The society here has changed a lot over the past 20 years. It's a lot less patriarchal than the States in my opinion.
There are so many choices. I would start with culture, cost of living, and income then work from there. I know that Spain is working making the process easier. There is an expected brain drain and they want to capture as much talent as possible.

It's such a pleasure to be able to be in Spain. Are you able to come back often?
@momshouldve I'm glad you're happy there. Yes, I can visit anytime. I'm only a 2h30 flight away :)

Thank you for sharing, I enjoyed your thoughts! Also I subscribed to
Thanks Scott! Are you looking to move abroad?
Was it easy for you, as an expat, to find employment in Spain?
What is your first name?

Oh, it's Keena
@@momshouldve Hi Keena! It's a pleasure to 'meet' you.
Your an immigrant. Not some "Ex-Pat". Own it.

The prospect is tempting now that fascists are taking over on January 20, 2025. The question is where.

I moved to Spain. Where would you move to if you had a choice without barriers?
