How many lbs of wool to make a plain knit pull over sweater?

That's a hard question to answer because it depends on the weight of yarn you're aiming to spin, how many plies you plan to do and what size sweater you're looking to make. The best way to go about it is have a sweater pattern you have in mind see what type of yarn it calls for and how many hanks you'll need of the store bought yarn. Then figure out how much those skeins weight and then try and get extra wool after finding its weight since you want to error majorly on the side of caution. You'll want to make a small sample to refer to as you spin and based on your small (let's say 1oz) sample figure out how many yards per ouze you got from your spinning to see if you actually got enough wool to cover the amount of yardage you need to spin....and even then....it may not work out the way you anticipated! But hopefully this doesn't deture you, but gives you a place to start.
