I’m just wondering if you play by ear or use sheet music? I’m just starting out guitar but i can never find the sheet music for the songs I want to play ( eg the poles) and I’m just wondering how you started out what kinda songs you practiced first? Love your videos!
Thank you! I learn the majority of the songs I cover by ear or watching videos of the artists performing. I started out playing classical guitar in school so I learned the traditional way for about a year (very basic sheet music, chord shapes and finger style). Afterwards I learned mostly classic rock and 90s indie/alternative rock bands because that’s the music that got me into guitar and those were the first songs I learned (Nirvana, Blur, Oasis, The Who, Queen etc). For these songs I used to try to find tabs, but they would always sound wrong to me, so I just continued to learn things by listening and moved away from tabs in general unless it’s something super difficult. I took lessons from various teachers for a few years in my teens and did a lot of ear training and music theory, but I learned a lot on my own from guitar books, blogs/forums and UA-cam teachers. Now I mainly use tutors on UA-cam. I don’t know if this is the answer you were looking for, but I hope this helps in anyway 😅
