Man I really hope Rodney sees that playlist you've got going I bet he'd be so stoked seeing all the work and effort picking apart his tricks then nailing them.
It's highly likely. Rodney is a known lover of skateboarding. He probably knows Braille at least and through that would likely have heard of this channel. It would be cool to have him on this channel.
Xandulf Beats The way Johnny pronounces “Mullen” is similar to the way you pronounce the last name “Müllen” in German. It’s like when Americans say “Tortilla” but they pronounce it “Tor-TEE-ya”. It’s an acknowledgement of where the word comes from. I think. I’m pretty sure I’m correct here, someone let me know if I’m incorrect
I love how you edited this video, it shows how long it took you and how many actual tries it took to land instead of cutting out all the attempts. It proves you've got alot of respect for Him. I hope he watches your videos. Your videos really prove how difficult Rodney Mullens tricks actually were. Isnt his name John as well?
Yeah. It seems like Rodney was always skating flatground a couple levels above everyone else. Someone who skateboards can't look at his work and not go "WOW!"
When I had first started skateboarding, Almost Round 3 came out and had me hooked on flat ground. I wish I had kept with it but injuries took me out. I truly enjoy watching your videos. Great work man!
I have always thought this trick was one of the most impressive things Rodney did in round 3 given the nature of the nollie 360 flip. Amazing work and so nice to see it being done again!
What makes Jonny a great skater is not the tricks he does but his perseverance and dedication to land a extremely technical masterpiece. Much respect tiger
This just shows the amazing level of skill that Mr. Mullen possesses. He most likely just nailed that on first go. His TED talks are fascinating. He explains how he does these tricks, and it makes perfect sense. You just need to understand the basics or your whole movement, fro your fingertips to your toes. Then just go for it.
I subscribe to a decent amount of people but I don't get near as excited with them as I do Jonny.... it's always "what now?? Did he primo to walking on water?!?!?" Love this guy!
That would be an order of magnitude harder, aside from having invented so many tricks the thing that really set Rodney aside from his competition was his incredible conistency. Granted as the tricks get more outrageous you do start to see evidence of it taking more than one try, but in a lot of Rodney's video parts you get a long run of tricks chained together over a couple hundred yards that were all a single take, something you rarely if ever saw on a similar scale with other skaters. Jonny managing to recreate and replicate some of these tricks shows how much of a wizard he is, but you'd need to spend weeks probably to recreate the single take aspect, especially if Rodney was really throwing down in that particular segment! I'd love to see it done though, and Rodney would almost *have* to fly down and link up for a game of skate after that!
Si74l0rd I am with you - it would be an insane achievement and probably almost impossible on most of his parts, especially the ones with long lines. But Jonny is not far away from being able to recreate at least one of Rodneys parts. Jonny is a wizard too :-)
Landing primo or remo is always the hardest thing because every other trick you train yourself for and prepair yourself for involves learning that, you only want to land on one spot and that's wheels down. It's a very scary feeling every time your feet land on a board sideways. It goes against all of your senses. That's what makes this trick so hard and I believe Rodney Mullen is the master of Mastering what makes us uncomfortable to try ourselves. He overcomes it with every new trick he created. It always goes against your senses. It's almost like once you land it you have truly made fear your master. You have to fully commit and stomp down on the side of a board to make it work and glide in mind blowing fashion. Excellent job! Awesome video again. Bad ass
I hate UA-cam sometimes, I find your channel and all its done is made me want to skate again.... Only problem is now I'm 40 with back issues amongst other things and have to many things in life that rely on me so can't chance get injured. I might by a nice setup though and keep it on the wall to look at, I can't skate any more but I can still support the community, I could allways pop a couple of olies in my garden on it though
For a moment i thought Rodney is jumping onto the ledge from below, which would have made landing the primo easier - but i think he just jumps a gap there and its an optical illusion? Glad you finally landed the trick! I like that you show your struggles, its so much more encouraging to seeing that its not just that easy, and even pros gotta fight for it. Thanks dude, youre an inspiration! Grüsse aus Deutschland!
I skated with Rodney in 1992 and he was working on the backside nose blunt slides For over two or three hours at a demo with Guy Mariano, Rudy Johnson, and Brian Lotti… I still have the footage and I’m grateful to have been able to skate with Rodney all day. It was there I learned the Ollie impossible which is still my favorite trick to this day being an old man that I am.
I grew up watching Rodney Mullen and playing him in THPS. He was aways considered the greatest skateboarder to me because nobody else could really do what he was doing. You sir have changed that

i think the most valuable gift you’ve given yourself, isn’t being super good at skateboarding, it isn’t the clout and it isn’t the money. it has to be the way you’ve trained yourself to keep going regardless of the continuous outcome. you have an ethic that doesn’t quit and that might be your most valuable asset, because it’s transferable. good job Johnny.

Wicked video man. I keep telling my daughter the only way to get good at something is to try and try and try...... She is 6 and just got her first skateboard for Christmas. This is a good video to show her what I mean and how determined you have to be. Thanks again.
Normally with skate videos, I like watching full parts where they're busting out huge stuff in the streets and not so much just constant attempts like your videos are. However, I find something just so satisfying watching your vids man. You do an amazing job at them and you are very entertaining. Keep it up Johnny 🤘 (Also, I dont think I've ever seen someone so not stoked for landing a nollie tre-flip that many times lol 😂 You make it look easy lol)
